UK, he didn't really sell narcotics he sold packagaging material and marijuana seeds i believe and stoner items
-
i knowe this cos he just rang me on my house phone and told be he has just been released and asked me to put a warning out as they have all his laptops nand its also his b'day to day and he has been quized all day by b'ham police in devon
he is a headshop store and sells drug packaging so if you brought there recently move your stash
-
Why would they catch a small fish like that ?
-
NOOOOOOOOO!
PLUTOPETE CANT BE GONE:(((
Where can we get badass head shop supplies now. Especially MBB

Plutopete is not small. He is actually huge. He sells Powder bottles, snuff items, cocaine accessories but the biggest one is the Military Grade MBB. Maybe stolen stuff? Tax fraud as well.
-
If they were going to bust him, might as well go bust all the head shop owners IRL.
Almost all of the stuff he sold you can get on regular online and in real life...
Wonder how he got caught though.
-
He used to buy from his vendor account without encrypting his address. He may have had the local police wanting an excuse to raid him for a while, unfortunately they may have been handed that information in the US investigation in to DPR.
It all depends how good the SR self destruct system was, he was relying on that.
It's a shame, he was polite and a great if occasional customer.
If you have been ordering packaging materials for vending purposes I would be mildly concerned.

i knowe this cos he just rang XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
duuuude now the police know who you are too since they can just look at phone "metadata" records, which req no warrant.
hope you cleaned house, too late to delete the msg because everything here is logged.
damnit people stop snitching on yourselves.
-
How can you get military grade MBB like Pluto had available
I've yet to come across it on the clear web

my house phone is not at mt current location its redirected to a unregistered mobile phone! and i would guess they hit him hoping to find addresses of vendors and this is 100% connected as he said the police kept leaving the room to talk on the phone to the fbi team running the raids, they also kept asking him about the man they have and think is DPR.........

Is format C good anoufh ??????

wow this is crazy if true...so what is he being charged with? anything in connection with his ordering drugs from the road? or just vending?
-

Was it possible he got raided for outside of silk rod dealings?
This is just asking me so paranoid... I have this terrible thought in my head that what would happen if Silk Road was being watched / bugged for the past few months and gathering info on all vendors.
And now they will raid everybody's house?
I store most stuff at another location, but now I want NOTHING here. Not even a gram of weed.
Or packaging material. It's all going.

Is format C good anoufh ??????
NO IT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH!
Hard drives are cheap. Take it out and take a sledge to it and smash it to smithereens. Makes sure you get the round platters inside the drive really good, smash the fuck out of them. Get rid of the pieces in a fire if you can, in a secluded river or even throw the a couple of pieces in various trash bins around town.
Formatting does not erase data on the hard drive. It simply changes the file allocation table. A format C: can be recovered very easily without much tools, like anyone can do it with a bit of googling. You can write the drive with all 0's and that should do it, but there are papers out there that say even this can be recovered by sophisticated data recovery teams. Your best best is to destroy it, it's less than $100 for a new drive, probably less than $50.
Good luck, stay safe.

Did he have PGP? If so do you know if that is compromised?
Fortunately I never purchased from him but I know he acted as a low-hanging fruit simply because he wasn't doing anything illegal really. I mean seriously, personal bits of bud and he was declaring his income for tax purposes. Seriously, he was totally above board apart from the occasional purchase as far as I know. If they got him for buying the odd bit of cannabis then the US authorities are pressuring them, they must assume that they somehow know each other.
This is just getting ridiculous, he had never done anything serious to my knowledge and sold legal products. He was hardly the mastermind behind this place.
None of this is meant to be cruel, he seemed perfectly nice and I suspect they will have a hard time pressing charges that will stick.

They really don't need to press charges against him. If they can get their hands on the details of the vendors who have ordered wrapping from him then they're well on their way to front page headlines of multiple busts in the morning's press. All we can do is hope he didn't keep the order details and the addresses.
-
i can confirm 100% that Plutopete did NOT keep any addresses the only ones at risk are those who ordered yesterday! this is because they raided just before his first postal drop of the day

does he also have any emergency contact details??
-
It depends on a few things, if they had a warrant which it sounds like they did then they have enough to do forensics on and recover a lot. There is going to be a lot of data destruction. The last thing I do before I retire for the evening is clear my work computer.
I doubt he was running TAILS or anything other than windows, I suspect this given that he didn't encrypt his address when placing orders. That means trails that can be followed. All that I can say is bad times. It depends who is working on his data, if it's the local police then no worries but if they call in the big boys then they can drudge up a fair amount if at any point it was in ROM.
Thank you for warning people though, that is noble of you RR.

That is the exact reason I never ordered from him.
Nothing against him, but I always knew a lot of vendors purchased from him and am paranoid.

do you know why he got raided?

What products does OP vend? I'm not accusing anybody of anything but for all I know you could be a rival vendor. Again, I mean no offense but as we all (should) know DTA (don't trust anyone)

I'm in panic mode here a bit...
Small time buyer...... been using PGP for my last few orders, but before that I didn't...
Should I be worried ?
-
Can't believe he ordered unencrypted from his vendor account. It's not that hard to remain anonymous! There's a few simple rules....
-
He isn't the only one. I've had several do the same. None of them what I would consider the larger scale or more professional ops but yeah, it happened more than once.
Thank god I made the decision never to rely on SR solely for security.

@RR do you know if plutopete was in contact with that guy Tim who was doing the survey? If he did participate and did it unencrypted then it may have been tormail that fingered him rather than SR.

You deserve it, you don't get enough.
Seriously, he was paying taxes and running a legal business, his identity was no secret from what I can gather. I mean correct me if I'm wrong but I remember him saying he had an actual return address since it was a legal business. It didn't need Tim's help for the police to find him, everything was reported to HM Revenue & Customs. He checked with his lawyer if I remember some of his posts correctly and was told he was not doing anything against the law.
I don't want to seem cruel about him, again, I liked him but low-hanging fruit would be an apt term, the reason he put himself in that position was because he wasn't really doing anything all that terrible. I doubt he has even been charged.

I doubt that HMRC were aware that he was selling wrapping to vendors. That's the issue here - I suspect that he's nothing but a stepping stone to finding the people who are distributing drugs and the amount of wrapping he sells to them is probably an indicator of how much they're vending and how high they go on the follow up list. (depending on what they're vending of course).
The best place to hit a system is at its weakest point - whether it be DPR with his vanity (Linkedin ffs!) or the mellow plutopete who just cruises through life believing in kittens and rainbows (ok, I don't know if he does but it sounds nice).
-
Fucking Hell this is a nightmare.... the fact they've moved this swiftly is extremely worrying....
I mean fucking hell, bloke in Devon being asked if he knows old mate from San Fran.... Bloody Hell !!
Super Stressy about how far they'll go with this..... most recent orders been PGP'd - but some older ones not for fucks sake,,,
Sorry for throwing out needy ex-girlfriend vibes... but should I be worried ??
-
Buyers for small to medium-sized amounts shouldn't be too worried. They're not going to arrest a million people. But in future, USE PGP!
-
How much is small -medium? £300-400 of packing?
-
If you were ordering large amounts of packaging materials I would be concerned. If you ordered them from a vendor account, be nervous. If you didn't encrypt then clean house and possibly lay low somewhere else for a few days and see what happens.
They can't get a warrant if you've been buying mylar but they can start to build a case. This all depends how set on doing some actual policing they are intent on doing. I don't thing this will be a huge investigation but I would be shitting myself if I'd been ordering from a vendor account with no encryption. I mean literally going on the run for a few days at least.
I mean fuck, I never really breached security and I'm still tempted to get out of dodge for a day or two.

I don't think a couple of days is going to help here, I doubt this is a number one priority and as you say, it helps to either point them to people who have never been on their radar so they'll need to build a case or it will add to any information they already have.
This could be like waiting for the other shoe to drop - only pluto knows what info they got from him, his accounts or hard drive.
-
Agreed but I think they will be wanting to move fast on this, they won't be waiting for 'warrant day' for these ones. Most areas once a month or so will do the roundups of people they want to pick up, they know the big boys are likely to scarper quickly so if they want them they will need to move fast. PlutoPete was easy as hell to find so fingers crossed they haven't got huge plans in mind.
I am standing firm, I'm not too scared for myself but I can understand why people are.I don't think a dragnet is closing in but they may have though they could catch the British 'wing' of SR administration, I can imagine the police having that kind of lack of understanding in the UK.
Do we know what the situation is? Bailed? Charged? Released without charge?
I hope you're wrong Abby and this is as far as it will go in the UK but as I've said before, you're usually right.

People were also buying heroin. I'm not sure I follow your logic.
Buying mylar doesn't make you a criminal, people use it to store food. In itself buying mylar is not an offense in any way so why not do it with bitcoins from a legal business? For all the police know they were storing food and anonymity freaks, this is why it won't be evidence enough for a warrant.
I find it really ironic that you are laughing at the people who didn't break a single law at least to the knowledge of the police. Seriously, mylar or crack? You think people are going to jail for mylar. If people practiced proper anonymity they should theoretically be fine.

I'm glad that i recently moved my operation over the border.. Already thought it was fishy that ST was moving his operation You know shit is going down when the #1 starts disappearing Thank god that i never shipped anything to the US Just for the sheer fact that i knew this beautiful place was going to get busted one day /or me\ If i would have sold to the US i wouldn't be able to sleep ever again Id even shit bricks in Honolulu or any other beautiful island.. Surely opening up to the US or any other high risk country would be mad money Look at super trips how he exploded when he started selling to the US not only him also Frank and others.. The amount of requests i got from Americans shipping to them is just insane and im glad i declinded everytime and stuck to my personal rule NO USA ??? I cant imagine how any vendor that sold to the US is able to sleep at night ...
... anyhow moving to BMR and sheep will be shipping from Germany with the same oldschool stealth massive discounts as a opening guys;;; hope to see you guys in a better situation .. SR was a great experience
... Send my regards to pluto pete i always liked the presence of that fellow on the forums

Is plutopete going to comment in this thread? Could you get him to make a statement?
-
I'm here :)
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back online, i borrowed an old laptop and it needed hours of updating, i've borrowed another now while i'm waiting.
Right, here's what happened.
I was raided yesterday morning by SOCA (Serious Organised Crime Agency)
They got the warrant on 16th September.
I was just about to ship my orders and they've siezed the bag of packages.
They've seized all my computers, even broken ones i was repairing, and also all my flash drives, memory cards etc. nothing to do with SR was stored anywhere, tor was on a flashdrive.
They seized all my Salvia products and all my Kratom products and all my seeds, all totally legal. The evidence sheet lists my salvia spliffs as cannabis joints!
They took an assortment of foil bags.
They've seized all the testing kits stored in my fridge but left the EZ-Test kits.
I had a small amount of weed and a bit of coke on a mirror, and a little bit of mdma, well it was my birthday.
They took me to Barnstaple nick, the local plod had not been informed beforehand and they had to explain to them who i was and why they'd raided me.
They questioned me about a package seized with my name on, I couldn't help them as i knew nothing about the package.
Then they asked about 2 shipments of foil bags from China, i told them all my imports are legal and there are no restrictions on selling them.
Then they asked about Silk Road, and what business i did with a guy called Ross Allbright, i've never heard of him and told them this.
Then they asked me about Bitcoins and the escrow system
Then they asked about my business, my bank accounts and turnover, banking, and bitcoin exchanges and localbitcoin
Throughout the interview they kept asking for my passwords, i politely declined every time despite there being nothing for them to find.
That's it in a nutshell, obviously i can't go into great detail here. I didn''t know until i was released that they had got the SR server but they were being fed questions from USA and it looks like they put off raiding me until yesterday.
I haven''t been charged with anything yet, I've been bailed until mid february. they seized dozens of foil packs with the letter H written on them and containing brown powder, they are going to be really disappointed when they find out its Horn Kratom and all the ready made spliffs are Salvia.
I had a call from the police this afternoon saying they are returning my seized cash tomorrow :)
My solicitor and a legal adviser from Release both say that i've nothing to worry about and it appears they expected to find something very different from the headshop in my front room :)
The only names and addresses they found were those on the orders in the mailbag, all the items are legal and there was no large orders of packaging materials.
-
Glad to hear you're ok (probably a bit weird coming from a stranger). We heard about your arrest earlier, I thought it was solely a US operation, but guess not. Wonder if any other countries are involved...
-
I had a small amount of weed and a bit of coke on a mirror, and a little bit of mdma, well it was my birthday.
Happy birthday!
SOCA will run the whole SR investigation this side of the pond and will have been provided with anything relevant that the Feds have got - mostly of the SR images.

Glad to hear you're a free(ish) man PlutoPete, thanks for posting that update, it is important to know what 'they' know as best we can.
They clearly hadn't done their homework on you, I'm really not sure how they managed to get a warrant, the judge must have been seriously misled as to the nature of your business. I really hope your lawyer is finding out how they managed to get it, you may have been the victim of police harassment. As far as I am aware being a personal drug user is no reason to issue a search warrant.
Hopefully you can still claw together some birthday cheer somehow, it's really not nice of the police to steal yours.

Happy Birthday (if belated). (insert balloons and kittens and things)
It was bad form of them to ruin your birthday like that, particularly since you run a business with no reason to give them suspicions. The police these days grasp at anything when they're desperate and obviously convinced themselves that you were some kind of criminal mastermind. God only knows what stories they told to get that warrant but I suppose that's probably the most unusual birthday present you'll ever get - you'll be able to dine out on that story for years!
Much respect for holding your ground with them, it must have been quite shocking for you when you found them at the door but I'm glad that they saw sense.
I'd suggest that if plod is feeling a bit frustrated by getting the wrong person then they may get spiteful and you may get a visit from HMRC soon (if you haven't already had one recently), nasty people they are. A colleague from years ago was once visited by them and they demanded to see receipts for everything in the house and business. Apparently HMRC has the most power in the land apart from the security services.
anyway, I hope you manage to make up for them ruining your birthday like that.

They got the warrant on the suspicion that i'm involved in the large scale distribution of class A drugs, my lawyer says there's no way they could suspect that from the evidence that had been disclosed to that point, but that was before i returned home and found the copy of the evidence list, 18 pages of stuff they've seized :o
I had a lot of foil packs containing kratom that was marked "H" for horn kratom, a fine brown powder so you can imagine what they thought it was :)

Lol, I wish i'd found them at the door, but they didn't knock and wait for an answer, they used the big red "doorkey"
I'm fully expecting HMRC next, especially as SOCA have taken my books and receipts!

Hi pete.
just so i understand
They got the warrant on 16th September. Y did they not act before ?
Do they have any addresses of any of your orders in the last 14 days ?
All so they siezed the bag of packages that you had on wednesday right?
They must have the addresses of that bunch of orders then?!
-
Glad to hear you're a free(ish) man PlutoPete, thanks for posting that update, it is important to know what 'they' know as best we can.

At least they will knock on your newly repaired door (I do hope that the police replaced it and didn't just leave your place open to the breeze and lightfingered people). From what I remember of my colleagues story, they won't make an appointment though.
The police really are getting above themselves these days.

Through your correspondence on this forum and SR? Does this mean that we're not as anonymous on here as we'd wish to think??

I can only guess why they waited after getting the warrant, but i suspect they were told to wait by the americans.
The only addresses they got from my place were those on the orders ready to ship, none were large orders. These orders were all placed on Tuesday 1st October from about 3pm until 9.30am on the 2nd October.

Wow, it reminds me of the time a local head shop owner was consulted by the constabulary because they knew he was more familiar with the changes in drug law than they were, they were trying to figure out whether shrooms were illegal about 2 years after the law changed.
I really hope you pursue them for their wrongful and ignorant actions, it was plain as day to anyone with half a brain that you were the most above board person on here. I wish I could be there to see the disappointment on their little faces when the reagent tests come back and they owe you a new door.
I may be somewhat mistaken but this really does make the UK side of the investigation look inept, they can't even keep track of publicly available data. Although it is deeply concerning that a judge issued that warrant, what are the odds that he is one of the many nonses in the judicial system...

hey plutopete you realize that you are still aiding a criminal enterprise by being a vendor, even if you sell legal products? The commissions paid support the site. I hope they dont pick up on that. Probably best not to sue them for being dicks.

I don't trust railroadbill one single bit....
Dodge mofo!!
No, they can not charge you for selling packaging equipment Pete, that is ridiculous. IF ANYTHING, the only thing that POSSIBLY could be put on you would be avoiding paying tax on the items which is highly unlikely as the hardly have a whole lost of all you ever sold or they would've known not to raid the place at all for legal items....
Go away railroaddowner!

I don't pay commission on my listings, the buyer does :)

spoke with pluto this morning, he's fine but had shit birthday, he's on bail only got bit of personal sniff which he had for his birthday. they asked alot about the road, but dont worry about pete he never kept records :). took loads of legal shit like salvia joints. his business is 100% above board but its the usa who ran the interview over the phone.
How many people can be talking to PlutoPete. RR and now you :)
If he's interested to speak to me about the details I'll be posting something in my blog later and would be great to hear his side
Listen mate, you are all about you, not anyone else.
Stop self-promoting at every opportunity.

Stupid cops wasting tax payers money raiding a hard working man who runs a online head shop
Good luck for the future, hope to see you on BMR

Yup - they will be busy beavering away building up contact graphs, checking phone records, seeing who was talking to who an how frequently and no doubt deploying some targeted surveillance on anyone who looks interesting.
They have a lot of data to munge through from SR that the feds will have given them (mostly messages) and again that will be probably be graphed to see who/what stands out as worth of prodding further. Names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses will be going into their research suite and I would expect their analysts are busy graphing away as we speak.
Be prepared for sure - take steps. Telephones and clearnet comms are their favorite technique for graphing because they are cheap and access is easy for them via NTAC - but once they have designated you as high value they are resourced enough to have blokes sat outside in a 4x4 for a bit of up close.
Be safe

Hi mate. Sorry to ask again, but just wondering if the 18 packs seized were to or from you. It's important to know.
I seem to remember him saying that they had one package that had been sent to him from some stranger and he knew nothing about it. The other packaged he mentioned were probably outbounds. However, they have taken his books which, I assume, have the orders for this financial year at least and again I assume they'll have a look before passing them over to the tax man.
Since we've just seen how they're jumping to conclusions here when they went after him, I'd say if you're on the order books, you're probably on their list. You'd like to hope that they'd realise that it's legal to buy stuff to put food in but who knows. Just don't be surprised if some plod turns up asking to look in your freezer sometime I suppose.

it wasn't 18 packages, it was 18 page list of stuff seized from my house, almost all of which is totally legal.
The packages ready to ship that they seized probably number 25-30 orders, all were legal and none were large foil orders.

I should clarify that when i say they got my books etc I should stress that they are my accounts for the last few years. I have no record of anyone who ordered from me, other than the bag of orders ready for shipping the only names etc are of legal wholesalers in UK and Germany.

So you don't keep copies of the invoice you send to people or just don't send them? Not unusual though, I bought something from an online hifi place last year and they didn't send me an invoice either. If HMRC do come calling they will ask to see sales records.
eta but if your turnover is under the vat level then they'll probably give you a warning and tell you to keep better records.

I don't send invoices :)
The vatman doesn't really know how to handle bitcoins, if i buy an item for £10 and then sell it for 0.5 bitcoins when the rate is £50 a coin, but a week later i sell my 0.5btc for £70, how much vat is chargeable?
I record my sales weekly, not individually, in a recognized small business accounts book, the taxman has been happy with this up till now :)
-
OK mate I misread. So do you have any idea on how they found you?

If you do get to the vat rate and they make you register, I can give you the details of how to calc it. Luckily they don't really care about digital currencies until you cash out, unlike our Canadian cousins whom the taxman has told they're supposed to charge vat on digital currency sales, even if they are almost all micropayments.
It sounds like you should be fine if they do turn up, although I'd probably talk to an accountant to make sure you have everything covered.

Unlike other vendors, my address was no secret, PlanetPluto is a registered business selling legal products. I break a few small rules such as selling seeds together with a growguide, but they would look so pathetic doing me for stuff like that the publicity would just send me more customers :)
I've just had my ready cash returned, they say forensics on the legal herbs will take a couple of months but my computers won't be looked at for 6-9 months because they have a big backlog, I've told them this isn't acceptable and that if they aren't examined and returned within a reasonable time i'm claiming for consequential loss to my business. I'm not sure who trains these plod but they didn't even know that cannabis seeds are legal and i've said that if they're destroyed or badly stored they'll be liable for the cost at a rate of £5 per seed :)
-
Whoa! First of all, definitely +1 to plutopete. I'm sorry about what happened to you, especially on your birthday. It seems like they pretty much just went for the weakest link (you're not hiding who you are or your business) hoping for something better or at least to use you as a stepping stone.

This made me laugh so hard!
But a couple months to test the herbs? The fuck? Does it smell like weed or not? If they need more than that, they can send it to me, I'll "run some tests", and I'll report back with the answer.
They are definitely wrongly dicking you around but as another user said, you may want to be weary about sueing them or anything similar because you may end up even higher up on their shit list. Of course, it's up to you though. If I were you, I'd talk to my private attorney about it because there could be a good amount to gain from it. Not to mention, if you succeeded, it might make LE think twice before making raids related to SR...just suff to think about.

Glad to hear pluto. hope to see you on sheep or BMR
