Title: is it possible to have two tor browsers running separately on one pc or laptop?
Post by: RR on May 18, 2012, 11:16 am
is it possible to have 2 tor browsers running separately on one pc or laptop?

for example, can i be logged in to my vendors account and my buyers account at the same time with out having to log out then back in each time i need to switch over? its really starting to get on my nerves cos i have a huge sentence as my password.

i have tried starting tor again to see if two will run at the same time but all i get is an error message saying tor is already running, if this is possible would someone be kind enough to explain how i do this please?

using 2 virtual machines can do it. I don't know if you need two network adapters though, maybe one through the host network adapter, and the other using like a usb wifi card might do the trick.

What wretched said, 2 VM's would work although would significantly slow your machine if it's not relatively top end. Especially with all the programs you need open i.e. truecrypt, vm x2, GPG, tor etc...

I guess you could use the host and 1 VM to get it done though, but everything I do on Tor is done through a VM anyway, thats why I said to use 2, but if you are just using your main OS for your Tor travels, just using a VM with your normal setup should work without using too many resources.

i dont see why you can't just open a second tab and log in to the other account... FF has tabbed browsing.

Just tried it.  In two accounts, separate tabs.  Just don't confuse which is which.

best,
d

because you are using one ip address its all linked so if you open a new tab and then click SR it will come up as you where logged in before with out asking you to log in

You can't log into the same site on the same browser AFAIK.

Just download the VM, install Ubuntu and all necessary programs and away you go with your seller account. Keep your buyer account on the top.
