Title: feedback and ranking system changes
Post by: RR on April 11, 2012, 05:12 pm
i dont know why feedback should be on a 1-5 scale, what is wrong with the simple positive/negative system that ebay uses? if it works for them right?

it just seems to me that the ranking system could do with some tweaks like for example i see sellers that have been her for 7-10 months with 100% feedback and between 100-200 sales coming miles behind sellers who have been here for 29days 100% feedback and only 20sales.......

how can this make sense? how can a vendor who has been selling for less than a month be ranked higher than a 10month seller with 10x the number of sales?

personally i would trust the longer standing member over the other even though the silkroad system says he is a less trustworthy vendor

please tell me what you think?

After many lawsuits ebay removed negative feedback it's only neutral and positive now
Powersellers on ebay just claim defamation and have their internet lawyers fax in form takedown threats to ebay to have any bad feedback they want removed

Nobody here can keep 100% perfect feedback there will always be competitors doing black PR or just crazy scammer buyers trying to hold your rankings hostage for a deal on drugs.

yeah i do see that so maybe the 1-5 system needs to be tweaked cos it seems to me that leaving 3 or 5 does just as much damage to the overall score as leaving a 1.

and ebay allows buyers to leave poss/neutral/neg but sellers are only able to leave poss/neutral feedback

I also don't understand the 1 - 5 rating level.
#Bitcoin-otc when you leave somebody trust ratings after a good transaction ,it's clearly spelled out what those rankings mean. A rating of +10 means you trust the person nearly unconditionally and have many, many transactions with them. A rating of 1-2 means a few good transactions with them.

Much easier to understand, less potential for abuse.

I think the current feedback system is good. I think the entire design of Silk Road is ahead of its time.

yeah i do agree value should pay some role in the rankings but not completely control it, like total amount of sales should also play a part and how long a vendor has been active.

Well. I had my first bad experience with feedback.

I just started on SR, 9 transactions all 5/5 done through escrow system.

I waited, i was patient, i finally got my feedback next to my name! hurray!, but wait.. 97 ?????

Turns out, a customer had a suggestion about my shipping and gave me a 4/5. NO problem. I dont mind good feedback.. BUT,

Since i have exactly 10 feedback's, That means 97... That's pretty messed up IMO. a 4/5 to someone with 100 feedbacks doesn't even make a difference. a 4/5 to someone with 10 or even 20 makes them have a 97.

And sure enough, a guy just asked me a question and referenced the guy who said my packaging needed a update.

When i try to go over and above for customer service im rewarded with a 97 :(

mate that is exactly what im talking about i had 100% on 137sales been a vendor for 8months and i asked someone to FE as it was going international and ive had problems with scammers so no ask for FE anyway he left me 3/5 as a temp score until he receives his package now thios 3/5 is the only feedback i have that aint 5/5 and this has put my overall score down to 96 i think there needs some tweaking cos in my eyes 4/5 is good constructive feedback and shouldnt affect your over all score, also 3/5 in my eyes means neutral feedback again shouldnt affect your score

Sounds like a cop trying to get us to be lax. Nice try officer  :P
