I have been using Barclays Pingit, Via Blockchain in order to get bitcoins, But recently i have found that they have placed a £10 limit on the amount of money you can deposit via pingit each week!
This simply will not, anyone else having this issue?
-
Yeah same is shite as was a great way to get inststant bitcoins they took it down sat as were having trouble then it came back with the limit
-
I just want a fast efficient way to get Coin in the UK. Its really becoming a nightmare!
-
agreed. I had 250 sat waiting in my pingit and now the cunts wont let me deposit to blockchain.
what are the alternatives now? face to face via tradebitcoin or similar or depositing international bank transfer to intersango with whatever scandalous charge the banks make? i cant think of any other options.
any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Cheers

£10 are you serious >:( wtf ..
-
Also PingIt's commission has increased from 0.97% to 5.97% :o - If anybody needs help on how to acquire Bitcoins in the UK, feel free to drop me a pm, and I'll do my best to point you in the right direction :)

I wonder if this is an organized crackdown against Bitcoin from the UK government. At first all the big exchanges loose their british banking connection nearly simultaneously and now this.

I remember hearing something about "Operation Pangea" where some governments in the UK were cracking down on online drug vendors. Not sure if this is directly related though.

It's a little prank the governments of the world like to play on us occasionally, but it doesn't really work very well. They mostly hit our competitors, anything we lose is more than compensated by that. They do seem to enjoy it though, so that's something.
The darknet markets are really made stronger by such activities. More vendors screw their faces up and up their game by becoming expert reverse package profile engineers.
By iron, iron itself is sharpened.

Use bitcoin-otc, you won't look back. Check out my explanation of the whole process at http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=46692.msg515070#new and PM me if you need help.

The £10 limit has been lifted.

The £10 limit has been lifted.
Your correct, the limit has gone back to its original weekly deposit limit of £250 (clearwebalert) https://blockchain.info/wallet/deposit-pingit . The 'new' interest fee still stands at 5.97%. It's great to see this method for acquiring BTC in the UK is back on track! :)

OTC
Over the counter. It is the most anonymous method of obtaining BTC if you do it right, and the rates are often excellent, superior to the 'easier' methods, which are tantamount to giving up your anonymity.
Don't give up your anonymity folks. Once you do, you can *never* get it back again.

Pine I agree with you OTC is a far more superior way to acquire Bitcoins, and the rates are often far more generous to the popular methods. In the UK it's becoming increasingly difficult to acquire Bitcoins. Barclay's PingIt is just another method, one that I have never personally vouched for, I don't like the idea of doing a transaction through a Smartphone, and the infringement it may impose upon my anonymity. I believe some people disparage from using OTC, for the fear of getting scammed, but like any system, if used correctly, there's a very minute risk of that happening. Some people prefer to use Barclay's PinIt, it's their choice, and I kept them updated that this option is back on track.
Thank-you for reminding us about the importance of our anonymity, that's very true especially when dealing with an anonymous marketplace, I have personally warned quite a few people about my fears of using PingIt, and your right if they choose to go ahead the risks should be known. OTC is great, but for reasons beyond my personal understanding people fear it, but in reality, there is really not much to fear, it's the one safest methods to acquire anonymous Bitcoins :)

The 'getrating' feature is very useful altho I havn't finished my setup/reading. Is there a list of all time highest rated? Or do you just have to check with individual names in gribble? Would it be unwise to discuss best otc vendors on a forum here ito speed?
-
You can check out sellers on the bitcoin-otc website, as well as through ;;getrating.
And no, I definitely wouldn't discuss best OTC vendors, although I'm happy to hear other peoples experiences!

Hey, so long as you're on the OTP (One True Path) pine is a happy monotreme! :D

I'm all for OTC, clearly the other methods are going to pop up then get squeezed out regularly. It also has the benefit of being anonymous.
However, if someone uses ping-it and blockchain, then another tumbler like bigcoinfog, how is that not anonymous?
How is anyone going to track you through blockchain (which has an inbuilt mixer and a taint analysis tool) and then on to bigcoinfog, again mixing it all up and paying out in several transactions over x hours, how is anyone ever going to be able to track that?
Blockchain and bitcoinfog would have to be compromised at the same time, which seems less likely than getting ripped off or running in to trouble via an OTC transaction. In fact with OTC you can clearly be seen on bank cameras if you deposit cash directly. You could wear a disguise, but then the disguise is in your house, and you'd have to bin it and get a new one every time.
I'm not actually arguing, just playing devils advocate to get peoples thoughts

Buying BTC isn't illegal, however revealing your identity when doing it for me isn't advisable. The chances of you making a cash deposit in branch of a bank and being identified in the future is much lower. After receiving your coins they will be sufficiently mixed. For small time purchases, there are MUCH bigger problems around for investigative authorities. Switch up which banks you go to and don't wear a disguise. This would probably attract much more attentiion to yourself if spotted.

For UK buyers.... I'm just waiting on some coins from Bitcoin-OTC but decided to have a check up on Ping-It while waiting to recieve them and noticed this:
Is there a maximum deposit limit?
Yes, users are strictly limited to deposits of £500 per 7 days. The maximum single transaction size is £250.
Is there a minimum deposit limit?
The minimum deposit that can be made is £10.
Seems like the £10 limit may have been lifted. Can anyone confirm this? :)

It was lifted a couple of weeks ago, used it myself today.
