Copy the vendors key to a text file. Then import it in Cleopatra. You can then choose File from the menu and encrypt it. Just choose the vendors entry :)

No need to use Kleopatra for this at all.

Step 1.)
Copy the vendor's public key into notepad

Step 2.)
Save that text file onto your desktop, or somewhere you can find it easily.

Step 3.)
Open the program called GPA. In the window, click the "Import" icon near the top of the window.

Step 4.)
Select the text file you just saved from the vendor's profile.

Step 5.)
If everything went well, it should say, "1 key read, 1 key imported". Click ok. You should now see that vendor's key listen in your list of keys.

Step 6.)
Click the "clipboard" icon, which will bring up a new window. In that window, write your address.

Step 7.)
Click the "encrypt" button. It will present you with a list of keys. Select the key of the vendor you just imported. It will warn you about there being no way to know if that key belongs to that person. Just ignore that message, and click ok.

Step 8.)
You should now see your encrypted message. Copy that, and send it to the vendor when you make your order.

I broke this down into eight steps to make it simple, but it's really very easy, and once you do it a couple times, you should be able to do the whole process in just a few seconds.

"Step 3.)

I had issues with this part as GPA didn't install as standard and Kleopatra did took me awhile to reinstall and unselect Kleo and selected GPA  then more instructions made sense

I'm new here too and trying to understand the encryption process:

Sorry I don't understand that - why would I send only my encrypted email address? Wouldn't I want to encrypt my mailing address and and other messages? I know I must be missing something.

I am new but will try to help here ( pine said I had to try to help someone if I learnt :)

Step 6 would be your shipping address that you would want to encrypt as part of the purchase. you would use the vendors public key so they can decrypt with there private key. Thus allowing only them to view this information in the event that SR was compromised during your transaction......

This is great. I was too lazy to bother with PGP until now but really it's quite simple and from what I can gather, quite effective too.

I am converted  ;D
