Breaking Bad - It's not a film but it may as well be since you'll watch the whole show in one sitting anyway

Book is much better, far more complex than the film can really illustrate. It's a lot darker too.

Oh and anyone seen Layer Cake? THAT is the ultimate British gangster film.

Rise of the Footsoldier IS good yeah, but it doesn't inspire me career-wise. Layer Cake is where you want to end up.

Plus on top of that Michael Gambon's speech in it is fucking epic.

"You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. Climb a little higher, take less shit. Until you're in that rarefied atmosphere where you have forgotten what shit even looks like....welcome to the Layer Cake son."

It's the best "film speech" in history IMO. The book it's based on is really good as well.

Holy Rollers - About jews trafficking MDMA, with the guy from the social network

Game of thrones- HBO series, but probably one of the best, if not the best, things I've ever watched

Breaking Bad - Mentioned above, again, TV show, but because your on a drug forum, I bet you would be interested

HBO sparticus series - Just strait amazing, sex, blood, fighting, AMAZING acting, must see

The avengers - Amazing movie, great actors, and just looks REAL

Iron man movies with robert downey Jr

Alien series - Just strait amazing, among the top 5 sci-fi stories/movies

Jackass 1,2,2.5,3,3.5 - If you like pranks, or are tripping/high, or just love these guys, this is one of the boss'est things I've ever seen. You feel like a bro to these guys, just amazing

American Pie 1-2 - these are the best american pies, the rest are also good, but this one is the best IMO

Project X- being a senior in HS and loving to party, I naturally thought this movie was the shit.

I love movies, very rarely do I see a movie I hate or can't finish. Usually it's because its just boring, and I hate sitting there waiting for some stupid ass thing to happen.

To this date, the only movie I couldn't finish was Where the wild things are just strait up terrible...

try to find Porno as well, thats the sequel to Trainspotting and IMO a much better read. Begbie has me in absolute fits every time he's mentioned in Porno.

Layer Cake is quality, as is Limitless (film, but the OP sounds pretty cool as well), and of course Fear and Loathing is up there among the greats.

Love Honour and Obey is a good gangster film as well - "You're fat, and i'll chuck you in the fucking river!"

Hi there,i have something to add,but many good films are already listed.

Mad Men is a really good series too.

The most authentic drug movie i have ever seen is the Pusher Triology,it takes part in Kopenhagen and is direct by Nicolas Winding Refn ( you maybe know Drive from him).
You may also know one actor,Mads Mikkelsen he played in Casino Royale.

Overall this is my hottest tip on drug related movies, watch it yourself and build your opinion

I've watched Precious stoned off my ass and it was the most crazy, hilarious, racist movie I've ever seen.

I saw Scott Pilgrim vs. the World on shrooms. Also recommended for that combo.

Gonna watch Moon on MXE tonight if I can. That also seems like a good combo.

Donnie Darko
Crazy dark movie, I've always loved it.

A Scanner Darkly
Not a great movie per say, but everyone should watch it. It looks like they filmed the movie with some big stars (keanu reaves, robert downey jr, woody harrelson, winona ryder) then converted it to vector graphics. It's about the future when most of the world is addicted to drugs and cops undercover have to wear chameleon like suits to hide their identity from even their superiors.

The Big Lebowski
Classic.

Shawshank Redemption
Classic.

This thread is full of crime movies, I think my favorite crime movie is Casino, can't think of many that truly standout, maybe Alpha Dog, that one was pretty good. Godfather and Scarface are obviously the most popular.

Rise of The Footsoldier (Loosely based on The Essex Boys)
The Business
The Firm
The Essex Boys
Cass
Casino
American Gangster
Scarface
21
Breaking Vegas - MIT

ROFLCOPTER

Scanner Darkly is a sweet tale by Philip K Dick, they used rotoscoping to animate that shit. Pretty neat.

Archer is always hilarious when I'm tripping balls, they need to make a movie though for our purposes.  :)

Immortals on LSD was pretty awesome, those titans were some freaky shit.
The BEST movie on LSD though, is the one you see when you go to an actual THEATRE!
When I walked out of Independance day, waaay back in-the-day, I seriously thought it was the best movie ever.  LOL  It is so bad.

Old timey shit, The Wall, of course.

Lost was a really good TV show series, had me hooked for like a month watching it on Netflix and I found Disappearance on 7th Street as well, although the ending was bad, and Lincoln Lawyer was an amazing movie.

Layer Cake is so boss.  I remember tripping to the FC Kahuna song in the beginning of the movie where all drugs are legal (song is called "Hayling") I tripped a LOT to that song and eventually looked up its origins, found something about layer cake and thought it looked badass so I watched it.  One of the top 3 movies i've ever seen.

Yeah exactly, this is what I mean. There is something magic about Layer Cake that just makes you think "Now that, is how you get shit done". Might have to watch it tonight to be honest, got a hankering.

And lol, Deadfuture I agree with you that it should have been in, no need for the sarcasm. I just think that Jakie Brown is equally good as Pulp but a lot of people say it's one of his poorer films, hence why I said it might be a little controversial. ;)

I've never seen Devil's Playground but I thought Holy Roller's was pretty awful, I thought Social Network was too though. My favorite Jesse Eisenberg movie is Rodger Dodger, Education of Charlie Banks was pretty good too. Zombieland, I liked the movie but didn't really like Jesse in it, Woody made that movie and Bill Murray put the cherry on top.

Layer Cake was pimp. You forgot to include Daniel Craig's money line in the film:

"I'm a businessman whose commodity happens to be cocaine."

In fact, it was Craig's badass performance in Layer Cake that landed him the Bond role.

Craig gets to play out the fantasy of every ambitious baller on the planet who dreams of the day they can graduate from the game after washing and smartly investing a large enough chunk of change to maintain legitimacy. Probably 95% don't have what it takes to quit and stay away, but Daniel Craig's character, despite the constant temptation to break his golden rules that probably everyone here is implicitly familiarity with, proves himself to be anything but just an ordinary playa.

And yeah you are dead right. Fuck it, it's my ambition and it's not even cheesy to admit it because really that's what everyone wants.

That Planet Earth series was boss as fuck. I too, watched that shit incredibly high with my wife and we were amazed by how lovely that shit was. It's amazing how they managed to catch things on film for the first time. Like the albino mountain lion scene, the birds eye view hunt they filmed where the pack of hyenas I believe were chasing a group of impalas and how they broke off in groups to flush them out. I find nature to be fucking fascinating.

The same group did the new Frozen Earth series as well which I have and am almost finished with. I have mad respect for nature after watching that.

I'd agree with others though on Layer Cake. I had to watch it a few times to get all the slang down but it's a fantastic movie- classic.

I've only watched a bit of the Frozen Earth series, I believe the one I watched had this amazing caterpillar that would literally completely freeze each year and thaw out, and it took something like 8 or 10 years before it would eventually cocoon and become a moth.

Pulp Fiction is a given! Haha of course that's the holy grail of all his movies. I thought Death Proof was fun, not anything spectacular script-wise. I think it was Tarantino's first movie doing his own cinematography which was cool. I actually have yet to see Planet Terror, wish I could have caught the double-feature in theaters though. The Kill Bills are also a given. And a third installment has been confirmed as well! :D I would have to say his most underrated is Jackie Brown, I think since it came right after Pulp Fiction and was focused more on character development than violence. Definitely a must-see. Oh and True Romance, which Tarantino wrote. Great movie!

All badass fucking movies
What the fuck about Pulp Fiction??? that's like Tarantino's best work IMO.  Also, wasn't a huge fan of Death Proof, actually thought it's counterpart Planet Terror by Rodriquez was better.

This may be a little controversial....but I think Jackie Brown is equally is good as Pulp Fiction.

Thank you! I wish more people understood the greatness of this movie. I was blown away when I saw it. Great writing and story development, I was never bored.
Oh and sorry I mentioned True Romance twice, it deserves that though :)
Can I also just say that Uma Thurman is one of the sexiest women alive! If I were to go gay for anyone, she would be my first choice hahaha

Really? One of the sexiest women alive? I don't think she's very attractive, for celebrity standards anyways, she's sort of on my list along with Angelina Jolie that some people think are the sexiest women and neither would even be in my top 100.

I like /some/ of her movies - Gattica was great, she was OK in Pulp Fiction, saw her in Les Miserables a few weeks ago and that was decent. Kill Bill I still don't understand how anyone even liked those movies, let alone the cult following it generated. And Super Ex-Girlfriend is on my worst movies ever list.

Green Street the better of the 2, although hard to take Elijah Wood playing a hooligan.  What about ID?  You seen it?  What about remake of 'The Firm'?  Aint saw the remake yet but would love to track down a copy of original with Gary Oldman.  You would also like 'Romper Stomper', an Australian film, russell crowe playing a skinhead.

Without a doubt 'From Dusk till Dawn' is the most fucked up film Ive watched stoned.  Knew nothing about it before I'd watched it so when the change comes halfway through was completely unexpected (not gonna say just in case I spoil for anyone who hasnt saw it), was convinced someone had switched tapes.

Everyone is putting up Layer Cake, but surprised Sexy Beast getting no mentions - Ben Kingsley amazing in it, some change for the man who played Ghandhi.

I dont really have a fav genre with films - they are a bit like music, either good or bad, no inbetween.  So heres a few of my favs:-

A Nightmare on Elm Street 1, 3 (Dream warriors) & 4 (Dream Master)
Boogie Nights
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox story
Halloween (original)
Theres something About mary
As Good As it Gets
The Shawshank Redemption
The Thing (original)
Dodgeball
Goodfellas
Heat
Carlitos Way
Forgetting Sarah marshall
Gladiator
LA Confidential
Trainspotting
Tucker & Dale vs Evil
The Dark Knight
Iron Man 1
Thor
Bad taste
Black Sheep

Watched it and Made in Britain in the same night.  Romper Stomper by far the better of the 2 IMO, although Made in Britain a helluva lot better than 'This is england'.

I always heard great things about Blade Runner, everyone always referencing it like a cult classic.
I finally broke down and watched it a couple weeks ago and I have to say I was hugely disappointed, the story went absolutely no where.

The original Dune is all sorts of fucked up though, I'll never forget smoking out and tripping LSD watching that entire movie.

I dont know if its been said but everyone should get high and watch The Boondock Saints.

Also masters of the universe, its a live action adaptation of he man. I think its really great, rivaling star wars maybe even.

edit: I wanted to add my favorite sam raimi films, army of darkness/the evil dead 2 and darkman

Platoon is ranked pretty high on my war movie list. The number of big names stars in that movie or that came from that movie is ridiculous (Charlie Sheen of course but a young Johnny Depp as well). For Entourage fans, an extremely young Drama is a crazy ass teenager in it, but still has the same voice haha.

(also on the topic for Entourage fans, watch HARVARD MAN!!!! God that was a great movie, Adrian Grenier is in it and he trips a shit ton of LSD and goes berserk. And Sarah Michelle Gellar isn't annoying in it.)

But uhm back to Platoon. The thing I liked about Platoon is it divided them into 2 groups, the stoner group and the hard nose group, and the stoner group are the good guys.

Another one of the best lines in it is - "My name? If you knew that, you'd be as smart as I am."

Yup. And the introductory Layer Cake narration familiarizing the audience with the golden rules of high line slinging for a living.

"Always work in a small team. Keep a very low profile, only deal with people who come recommended. It's like selling anything: washing machines, hand-made shoes, blow-jobs. As long as you don't take the piss people will always come back for more. That's not to say we don't weave that magic that makes two kilos into three, but never be too greedy. Know and respect your enemy. It's only very, very stupid people who think the law is stupid. And avoid like the fucking plague loud, attention-seeking wannabe gangsters, in it for the glory, to be a face, to be a name."
