Title: Noob bitcoin questions
Post by: whytry1313 on May 07, 2012, 10:50 pm
Hi everyone...

I'm taking the dive after reading many posts here in the forum about acquiring bitcoins. I still have a few questions though. I've decided to use BitInstant via a cash deposit to fund my Mt. Gox account. What should I expect at the bank? Will they ask for my I.D.? If I need to mention bitcoins, will that be a red flag? Also once my Mt. Gox account is funded and I exchange to bitcoins, should I route them someplace else first or right to my SR wallet?

On another note...If I have the Tor browser open, only pages accessed there will be on the Tor network correct? I ask because I opened Mt. Gox on a different browser while the Tor browser was in the background and I know you aren't supposed to log in Mt. Gox while on Tor.

I just need to read up on the PGP key stuff now...

With the wire transfer they won't have to ask you any documents normally
I f you go directly to the bank just say for explanation instead bitcoins. You're investing in trading forex market or something similar
it's works good.
I suggest you to move the bitcoins to a wallet on your pc or a wallet online before transfer the funds on silk road

You shouldn't be required to present an ID. It's just like any deposit account that anyone in the world can make a physical deposit to. I say 'hello', 'how are you' and 'thank you' and I'm on my way.  I've read lots of posts regarding using several wallets before moving coin to your SR wallet and it makes a lot of sense.  I use bitcoinfog to tumble my coins on their way to my SR wallet.

In terms of the Tor browser, I believe you are correct. I also open a different (non-Tor) browser while connected to Tor and access clearnet that way.

Why should they ask for your ID or even sense that you are purchasing money for bitcoins?
Also, which option should you choose for 'Pay to'?

I've already pretty much answered every single one of those questions on another thread! Read the whole thing.
