Title: Shipping a liquid... how to package it?
Post by: purp13 on April 20, 2012, 05:06 am
So I am shipping some lean inside a water bottle.
It smells like cough syrup (not intoxicating) but I'm not sure if dogs would pick up on that.

I am mailing it from the USA and to another location within the USA so shouldn't be any problems with customs.

How do you recommend I package it?

Vac seal it anyways just so it doesn't leak if something happens.
Then put it in tupperware, tape the hell out of it, put in box with paper so it's not rattling around, ship it off.

Make sure if its in a box you rap it in bubble rap or ball up some old newspapers and use that. Packages with loose items are a red flag to customs. Especially when their heavy like a liquid.

The tupperware is because cops in Canada sometimes stab the boxes in transit with a wire hoping to puncture any vac bags that may be in there. Just because they need a warrant, doesn't mean they can't stab boxes as they come down the line for dogs to sniff. At least they do it up here, dunno about the US.

Canadians next time you receive a box domestic, check for the tiny stab holes almost everything has one from bored cops somewhere in Toronto hub.

I'd like to stab any punk ass cop who stabs my mail with a wire. I receive a lot of domestic parcels via Canada Post and they ALL pass through Mississauga/Toronto sorting plants, yet I have not encountered any stab wounds on my parcels.  :-\ This is imported mail only I would assume, because I really doubt any cops in Canada would waste any time worrying about mailed drugs within Canada when there are so many imports to worry about.

I lived in the GTA back in the day and had a friend who worked in mail sorting and what not. He said cops would never really be around unless they found a large amount of drugs. I doubt they would be able to stab the mail. That would get them fired quite fast if it was reported.

I seriously do not recommend shipping liquids in normal circumstances. Especially quantities greater than say 200ml.

Customs can tell if a package holds liquids, there's a machine which detects this. It is very efficient at this.

The reason your package could get red flagged isn't drugs, but explosives.

It ought to be appreciated that the machines that detect drugs also detect explosives, that's their dual use.

To your postal inspector: liquids = potential explosives.

Secondly, using the pin check is business as usual. Another reason not to use liquids. That shouldn't come as a surprise to any vendor.

If after my advice, you are still determined to go ahead, then I suggest using a large vial and a small vial. The small vial contains liquid and stopped off by wax, the large vial contains sand. Finally you wrap carefully in bubble wrap and mummify it in tape. Finally, slap a fragile sticker on the package and use the return address of a scientific lab somewhere in your post code. The item should be placed within a cardboard box, and not a standard parcel package or business mailer.

A water bottle is a no-no. There is no earthly reason people would post each other water bottles when they can pop down to walmart or the local shop.
