Title: Tormail Question
Post by: Damod78 on February 10, 2012, 01:29 pm
I have a mac and been using GPG Keychain to do all the encrypting and decrypting automatically.

I've found a product I'd like to buy but the seller is insistent on encrypting all communications.  I don't know squat about manually encrypting or decrypting messages so would Tormail be another option? (vendor also uses Tormail)  Can I just open a Tormail account and send him regular messages or would I still on top of going through Tormail have to encrypt my message manually?

You still need to use pgp, you should always use pgp anyway as it's bad practice to place your security in the hands of others.

I think, for the sake of argument, you should simply assume all the services used here are compromised.

e.g. Tormail, Instawallet etc

You don't have to be paranoid, you just shouldn't make any assumptions about privacy.

I wouldn't encrypt all communications.  Just those with sensitive information.  It's just more time consuming for both the seller and the buyer.  Remember time is money, especially for the seller.
