I am trying to gauge the interest of SR members in purchasing digital copies of Movies, TV Shows, etc. before I invest the money in a vendor account. I have been a member of SR on the purchasing side of things for awhile now, and am looking to venture into providing a service.
While the internet has plenty of publicly available options for downloading any and every type of content, I have access that goes far beyond. Quality content, available in any format (i.e. SD, 720, 1080, etc.), with a heavy emphasis on Movies and TV Shows.
I am looking to serve domestic and foreign customers who are tired of public (i.e. torrent) sites, worrying about anonymity, limited by their ISP's, viruses, mis-labeled files, or just the hassle of finding and downloading in general.
I am going to keep the prices low. To preserve a convenience factor for people. My goal is to serve customers who are tired of sifting through bullshit and are willing to spend a dollar or two on getting EXACTLY what they want safely and anonymously. No more downloading 5 copies of something hoping just 1 is what you are looking for. No more worrying about exposing your IP. No more worrying about viruses.
I have personally spent 15+ hours learning everything I need to know to make myself, and potential customers, as comfortable and safe as possible. Both within SR and beyond. I take this very seriously and have invested a lot of time before even asking if people are interested in this.
I AM NOT looking to become a "clearinghouse" for new people who merely want to drive their transaction counts up on low cost items in order to have a "good looking" transaction history for other purchases.
Any and all feedback people are willing to share about interest in such a service is GREATLY appreciated.

I think it's possible.
However there are some problems.
1. Namely TOR is slow with download speeds, and the kind of decent data people would want is very large in file size e.g. 30 GB - 150 GB easily.
2. 90% of the people on here know very well how to use the torrent system. So... they can already get that shit for free, it's just a question of quality and time.
Until you can address those two basic problems, I think it'd be a hard sell.
I think 1 would be addressed by posting blueray disks or something similar. In eastern europe they package a dozen videogames/dvds together as a package. So maybe you could do: all the TV seasons of every show on a certain TV station or something similar. That would call for some really special data delivery system though.
2 can be addressed as like you say, having special content that is very hard to find. e.g. being the first to get DVD rips out like Axxo used to always do etc.
I think, in any business on SR, the main problem isn't quality per say. It's consistency of quality. Get that right, and the price, and you can sell pretty much fucking anything.

im interested. but i dont want to download via tor. id love colbert report , 1000 ways to die .. and maybe some adult stuff :)
my home connection is shit, but i want be able to go to another connection and download some stuff really fast. ;)

would also be interested if the prices are kept very low and it downloads fast. or else, like someone said, i would just use azeureus so you gotta make this fast, cheap and convenient! 8) but if you can do that, i think you can make it work.

someone already suggested this idea a few weeks back, the summary was it would pretty much be a waste of time as most people can get access to this kinda stuff anyway + including costs for a vendor acct + time spent on comms it'd be a long while before you recoup your money back..

If it's links to downloads, that's one thing.
But if it's DVD-Rs or BD-Rs in the mail full of stuff, that may just be a huge potential business. Especially if buyers could customize.

yeah custom orders put to dvd and mailed would be DA BOMB but watch out for LE :P it looks like SOPA and similar organizations are out for blood! look at megaupload owner sentenced to 50 yrs? wtf thats more than ppl get who rape and kill..
