Title: UK - Postcode and City
Post by: H3l1uM on January 22, 2012, 09:10 pm
Hi,

I am from a country where in the address we write the postcode in front of the of the city name.
But I now live in the UK and (of course :) ) they do things the other way, put the city first and then the post code.

I bought a package 3 weeks ago and I haven't received it (it was from the UK so it should be there by now). It was from a pretty famous seller so I believe he sent it. Now I realize that I may have written the information the wrong way in the address. So I'm wondering if that may be the reason why I haven't received it, and if so, would they more probably have lost it or would it be just delayed ?

You can put a postcode pretty much anywhere.

In fact, you don't need to use a post code at all. Postcodes merely doubly ensure the address is correct.

So... I doubt it.

Nope, as long as the information is correct it doesn't matter about the order of it so much.

If the package was sent UK to UK was it sent 1st Class Recorded? as it's only £1-£2 more and you get a tracking no. so you can check the status.

3 weeks does sound like a long time though..could have been stolen by a postie as I have had orders stolen in the past (no customs love letter)

Okay thanks, it doesn't make me feel much better though... :(
I haven't received anything from customs (do they always send something if it is seized, even for a small package ?) so yes maybe it was stolen (But how would they know to steal this package in particular ?)...

I wish I knew mate, I didn't order it from SR it was BudMail so maybe someone smart enough to know their packaging techniques or maybe they saw contents under a scanner e.t.c

my suggestion would be to get in touch with the vendor ASAP and ask them how they sent the package (delivery method), I think I know which vendor you got it from and believe that they would never ever scam which is why I recommend you get in touch and see what they have to say about it :/

I'm know you're not feeling particularly good about it, but I believe your best policy is to sit tight and be patient. Frequently when purchasing completely legitimate packages I've had outsize waiting times that made me wonder if it was ever going to arrive. After four to five weeks, I'd give up on the package. I would then develop an entirely new strategy for delivery.

I got a little note from them for a flick knife I sent myself from Austria, maybe they got pinched by your postie?

yeah anything sent from amsterdam is dodgy business mate, next time take a train out to a place called Haarlem should only cost you a few euros and get your stuff sent from there.

So I guess as my stuff might have been seized it's not safe to ship to the same address again ?
I don't really have anywhere else to send it to...

As has been discussed before on SR forums;

Setup a shell company (a hell of a lot easier than you would imagine) and direct post to Widget Ltd at an address that isn't yours.

Otherwise visit my thread for useful infos...
