Every message you encrypt is also encrypted to yourself automatically. Makes life easier with troubleshooting of this kind.2. Even though (1) is true, if the enemy intercepts your messages, they won't be able to figure out that your public key was used to encrypt the message, that information will be hidden, (you can also hide the other public key used to encrypt (person receiving the message) so no information is available for traffic analysis.
