What are the real forum figures... and when will we be back at former volume?

So, the last forum had a member count of approximately 100,000.

The current forums have a member count of approximately 2,000.

That means, right now, we're running at about 2% volume.

I wonder if we will get close to that number again, and if so, when? I know nobody has an answer to this, I'm just airing my idle curiosities.

Also, it's worth noting that out of those 100,000 members, a high percentage of them would have been redundant - e.g. alter-egos, old unused accounts etc.

I've added a poll, just for fun and research, asking how many accounts folk opened on the last forum. This is just because I'm curious about the individual count vs the account count, if you follow. I know folk may have had more than one account for a number of reasons - forgetting a password being one of them - so don't be shy

EDIT: Also, please count any spam, bogus or dirty accounts you opened. Be anonymously honest - it's a non-identifying poll.

That's not what I'm saying, although more would be nice - higher numbers = more diversity. As you can see, even with low numbers, we've still kept some of the 'characters' from the old forums - so higher numbers doesn't necessarily mean a higher percentage of penises .

to be fair there are a few penises here. more so than the old forums, or are the flacid members here just amplified because of the lack of numbers.

Vast majority of users are waiting for the marketplace to open before committing themselves to a forum account. A lot are also hesitant given the events are barely two weeks old, and are browsing as "Guests". When the market opens and starts operating smoothly (which all indications are that it is soon, and will), tons of old users (and new) will influx into both the market and forums. With Atlantis gone, BMR's recent closure and reports of Sheep Market Place being compromised in several ways, Silk Road seems poised to rule the roost again.

It's technically less than one but greater than zero.
If you haven't had an account on the old SR then the number is zero.

If me and my girlfriends all shared the same account to brag about all the drugs that we were snorting and getting free stuff in the mail then the number would be 1 account used by 3 people or 1/3 or 0.3333333333333333333333333... well you get the point.

However, if I KNOW that Shirley (that would be my hottest girlfriend) had another forum account -then how can I count her? I mean she was using our shared account to thank vendors for supplying the Cialis but then she started a NEW account to chat with the "Ladies of Slickroad" and loan out Bitcoins.

You see the math is troublesome here. There is not how we say a one-to-one correspondence.

Maths isn't my strongest point, but to me it's looking like there's a percentage then of about 75% individual users?

Or, every 1 account represents 0.75 people.

Would that seem about right?
