Look at all this mad spam from bitcointalks today. Nomad can't deal with the sheer amount of spam alone (it seems he's alone now). Who agrees we need the spam busters back?

but it does have some modules to take care of that, i believe that they wont be installed cause they might be a security threat...

I volunteer to be a spam-buster. I'm on here often and if I could make a dent in it, and stop that damn chinaman spammer then sign me up. Please bring back the spam busters, or make more mods capable of editing or deleting posts or banning users. This is retarded. The spam isn't financially based anymore. The spam is a forum attack method and a way to try to attack the bitcoin community. Silk Road is a constant battleground. How many scam/DDOS/hack/phishing attempts can you name that have occured in the last few months?
The spam is not guided by financial gain in my opinion, it is a means of disruption.

It *always* happens around 4-5 am UTC. Can a mod schedule to be around at that time?

riven already mentioned this in a similar thread*: setting up some verification questions instead of / in addition to the verification image would be quick and easy to do via the SMF admin area, and would very likely stop or stem this flow of spam, at least temporarily.

Another suggestion (apologies if it's been made before and is not viable here for whatever reason).
Evidently SR already has membergroups set up (newbie, hero member, etc.), so how about preventing members from starting new posts while they are still in the newbie membergroup? That way they would be able to reply to existing posts, but not keep creating these new spam posts.

Everyone chill pill out for a bit ok, I just spoke with DPR and he seems to except the need to have a spam buster or two.
He asked my opinion as my choice and of course I gave t back to mohska.
I dont make the decisions so dont bother even posting anything relating to becoming anything else than what you currently are here, just be grateful someone with experience might be back on top of things. This is a good thing, it's the first step back to moving forward than backwards.
So just give it a few days and see if anything happens, I kinda suggested many thinks but we will see if 1 or any of them happen either way we all need to be on the look out for each out and vigilant. Never become comfortable here that always ends in "Where are my BTCS ..."When Will SR be giving my BTCs back"? For those that don't know the answer to those two questions is they wont' be giving them back. SO you look out for you and your mates and call out the cheats when you see them...if it seems to good to be true make them prove it's not and for god's sake stop finalizing early for whatever stupid reason the vendor gives you.

Since it says 'Guest' looks like the account has already been deleted. FWIW, a person with dysgraphia might actually tend to write in such a fashion -- I'm somewhat surprised that they don't use something like Dragon Dictate to compose their messages. Since they can read normally, I would presume they would be in a position to be able to dictate.

Thank you! I've been spending pretty much 90% of my time tonight deleting those threads! I think there's another mod (or mods!) on who are doing the same!
A big thank-you to CaptainMal and all the other moderators for keeping on top of the spam tonight, keep up the great (and much appreciated) work :)
