My account has just been compromised! no idea how but I logged in and silk road detected multiple login attempts so I entered my pin. My SR bitcoin wallet has been emptied of aprox 3 coins and the attacker managed to change my password before I could, so I can't login now either! This especially concerns me as I have incomplete transactions that are still yet to be finalised etc.
How do I go about getting my account back? Is there a contact email I could use for silk road and how quick are they to respond.
Cheers

You logged in using the link posted on Wikipedia. Though it may be little consolation, you're not the first. The site at the link you went to is a scam site set up to harvest users login details.
Register a new account and contact SR Support letting them know that you logged in using an incorrect link, and your password etc. was changed. Give them your account history: your last 3 purchases (who they were with and the approximate amounts and dates of these transactions), and your password history.
They may be able to help you out.

I have also been using the link from the wikipedia page....should I delete all of my accounts and start over? Should I just reset all my passwords?

Change your password and pin immediately using http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/
Then you're fine.

I can't believe people actually fall for this :o

I can't believe people actually fall for this :o
It may not be true in a dark city alleyway, but it's true just about everywhere else in today's digital world: the nerd has become the apex predator... rather ironically amusing, really :)

Well luckily I have taken 0 steps whatsoever. But this isn't that unbelievable, when you're new this is a lot of information to process.

LOL! I just noticed the OP's name is "apeks1." Dude, that would have been some stand-up comedy level cleverness there if I had realized that when making my "apex predator" statement :P

When you're new you should be reading, reading, reading. Had you done that you wouldn't have fallen victim to a scam. EVERYBODY was new here once, but not everybody got scammed. Stop everything you're doing, read the first 10 pages worth of threads in each forum, and THEN proceed to send bitcoins to your account. Do your due diligence before sending anybody money for them too. No doubt after you've sent them you'll be starting a thread saying "bitcoins missing! sent 24 hours ago! help!" because you haven't followed the correct 'get a new address' procedure for sending funds to your account.
Again, stop everything you're doing and start researching every aspect of how Silk Road and Bitcoin work. You're obviously someone who doesn't have the best grasp on how a system such as this works, so you need to educate yourself and know the solutions to your problems before you even encounter them.
Apologies for coming across as somewhat blunt but mollycoddling you isn't going to help at all.

Well, I'm not gonna say I disagree or anything... but let's be honest man. Technology ain't everybody's cup of tea, and if you don't care for computers, then Bitcoin and all this bullshit is just a goddamn headache to you. I can totally understand why somebody wouldn't spend the goddamn 24-72 hours of straight studying it took me to really get a grip on the whole bit.
Frankly man, if I hadn't already had some goddamn meth to help me study, I wouldn't have bothered learning how to fucking get cleaner meth :P

Not sure if you got the part where I have taken 0 steps whatsoever....because I'm reading reading reading. That's how I found this thread, and learned from my mistakes. So while I do appreciate the advice I'm already following that protocol.

Oh I fully agree; when I first found out about Bitcoin it took me about a week of solid research and reading to understand how it works, and the ins-and-outs of the technology behind it. The difference is that I didn't put any money into it until I understood it, unlike how most new members here are going about it. Then they wonder why things go wrong. ???
Definitely got a chuckle out of that last bit though. ;D

My sincerest apologies royrogersmcfreely - in my 'just-awake' dreariness I confused your post and the OP's, and amalgamated the two! It is very good to hear that you're doing your research before taking action, and that will serve you very well indeed.
Best of luck with your future purchases here.

Silk Road is no place for the technologically-illiterate, nor the computer-phobic. Such people are dangers not only to themselves, but the greater community as well.

This.
None of you should be okay with someone saying "I'M NOT GOOD WITH COMPUTOR, PLZ HALP!" on SR.
Sorry, too bad.
It's like me saying "ME NOT GOOD CHEMIST, WANT TO MAKE MDMA AND CHRYSTAL METHAMPHETAMINE LOL, I CAN'T BE BOTHERED STUDYING, PLZ HALP!"
Synthesizing drugs just isn't something I should be doing.

And yet you enjoy the fruits of their labor by buying the chems they cook up (no judgements, naturally -- I do it too just like all of us here). Well, I personally have no problem with someone who thinks computers are just plain boring and only cares about learning enough to actually use Silk Road with moderate safety (all things considered, obviously ordering drugs is... you know what I'm saying).
There isn't exactly a one-stop-tutorial that explains precisely what you need to know and precisely as much of it as you need. That's the sort of thing people are very good at that computers are very bad at -- summarizing information, analyzing context and being able to see where someone might misunderstand something, etc.. As long as someone's polite and grateful, I don't have any issues spending my time helping somebody who only wants to know this stuff to order drugs. And I don't think they represent a necessary danger to themselves or anyone else, provided they're willing to learn when others are willing to teach.
I don't know about you, but I learned by reading what others had written. If they had said "fuck that, this shit isn't for people who don't design CPUs, they can piss off!" I wouldn't have ever figured out how to do more with a computer than boot the thing. See what I'm getting at.

I do indeed enjoy the fruits of the chemists' labor, and I pay for that.
I pay for that service, even though it would be cheaper for me to make it myself.
Alas, I just don't have the knowledge, time and motivation to do so, so I pay for others to do that and make a profit from me in turn.
Those that don't have the knowledge, time and motivation to use SR safely have the alternative of sourcing it elsewhere.
That's the point I'm trying to make - SR isn't for everyone, and trying to cater to the lowest common denominator isn't doing anyone here any favors.
Like you, I'm happy to share what I've gleaned from hours of studying these forums, when someone is polite and respectful, and shows that they've made a slight attempt at sourcing the information themselves.

... shit. I see your point. Well fuck man. I have no counter to that. You win, lol :P
