Title: Running something like privnote on own server?
Post by: maambaba on November 15, 2012, 02:20 pm
Hi there!

I am using privnote when I am too lazy for PGP.

It's quite a helpful service. But I was wondering if there is any way to run a software like privnote an my on linux server.
I found Vanish (http://vanish.cs.washington.edu/) but the latest update was in 2009 and it seems abandoned.

Is there any other reliabel and safe opensource software which I could use?

Any help would be great!

Warm regards,

If you're too lazy to use PGP, then there is no hope for you.

As far as running your own server goes, I can't even begin to describe how insane running a server on your own box would be.  If you think using PGP is hard.... there are so many ways to fuck things up that it isn't funny. Far from improving your security, you'd be leaving yourself wide open.

I totally agree with Nightcrawler. Just using PGP + Tormail is both easier and safer.
