I was using an onion uploader site, but someone told me that was unsafe because my camera phone was encoding my location via GPS or something? Is there a site that will remove my info and upload anonymously?Your camera phone _DID_ include your GPS coordinates in the images. PM me with a PGP key, and I'll show you what it revealed. You have to use software to strip out the offending GPS data from the images PRIOR to upload. Using an .onion site is perfectly accaeptable, EXCEPT in the case where your photos contain your GPS location data. Nightcrawler[PGP key snipped]I see. Thanks. So a regular camera is fine, just not a camera phone? I see so many vendors post camera phone pics too!Camera phone pics are perfectly fine, if you take the trouble to scrub the exif data prior to uploading them anywhere. Unfortunately, people either don't realize the danger, or they forget to carry out that step. Using GPS coordinate data, and Google maps, I can being up a picture of your house, using Google Streetview. Most cameras don't include a GPS so, in general, they're a better choice. Most camera phones include GPS; most (but not all) will embed the GPS coordinates in the exif data. My understanding is, that in some cases, this GPS coordinate embedding can be turned off. In any case, you are always better off checking the photos to ensure that these tags are not there, and if there, that you remove them. The less information contained in the exif data, the better.
