So, lets gather together and put our ideas together. When you get some good quality bud but....... its compressed to shit.
I am going to try this method of uncompressing the weed.
A water cure! Break up your brick of weed and place it into water. This is a curing method for many growers, I'm going to try it on compressed weed to see if it will give the bud some fluff or put it back into it's 'normal state'
Anybody else got any techniques?
ps- i have some bud sitting in water right now as an experiment, will let you know how it works.

It will change the character of the bud and not necessarily for the better although it doesn't seem to affect the potency drastically. A grower friend of mine had water leak into a container with about 10oz of bud in it about ten years back. The water became a brownish-greeny color and after the bud had dried out it had lost a lot of the "zing" of the original flavor (although it still seemed to get you stoned ok).
Bud is a mixture of water soluble stuff, oils and insoluble matter so if you soak it in water some of the water soluble stuff is going to leach out. It'll also take some of the oils too (mostly trichomes and the fine droplets you see on the bud and surrounding leaf) but probably not a huge amount.
I'd never heard of indoor growers curing their crop this way before and it sounds interesting (there's a few articles and posts if you search google) but everyone doing this seems to do it with fresh trimmed bud before air drying.
I don't know and I'd be interested to see how your experiment turns out (especially for compressed weed) but that one time I did smoke a bunch of cured weed that had been soaked and dried out I didn't find it very tasty :)

Being smoking swag for years the best thing to do with it is make canabutter.
Now I rather use the good stuff Rook's trim.
You could put some orange peel, but a water soak won't do much, it will take some nasty green stuff off.
If you leave it wet it will start fermenting, and that doesn't smoke well. ???

Anarcho47's compressed Jack Herer was INSANELY GREAT IN A VAPE!!
I do not understand the complaints about compressed weed. Also, Anarcho47---get some more Jack Herer in stock!! I am almost out :)

I personally don't care if weed is compressed or what, its just if people buy the compressed weed to sell it turns the ignorant customers off... and most people are ignant

It's purely an aesthetic thing for me.. I like breaking up nice chunks of bud that haven't been compressed too much but it makes no difference at all to the smoke. If it's really solid I'll use a grinder..

Not everyone likes using a vape; my friend has a volcano and I think its the biggest waste of money in the world. Nothing like smoking a bowl out of a bong/pipe, or twisting off your doobie once your done. Compressed buds are just ugly.

Guys,
It all looks the same after you grind it.
Best part on the SR is you get a choice.

talk to me when you are 45 and are unable to take a deep breath :)
You gotta love that yearly bronchitis you get.
Tar from cigs or grass is not good my friend.

Doobie,
I love you.
Young man, listen to what he say.
I have to say vaping, stopped the nightly wheezing, and morning hacking.
Still enjoy a good doobie if you know what I mean.
The secret to vaping is finding the right temp, and keeping the screens clean.
The best part is vaping in public, but that was before tinctures, and edibles.
Everyone should vape, not all the time, but it much better for you.

If it's compressed and/or dried out, try using a lettuce leaf to put some moisture back in. It holds just enough moisture and doesn't change the taste of the buds.

I don't chain smoke. I smoke a very little bit. A max of .2 or .3 a day. Sometimes nothing for weeks. I don't drink alcohol or smoke tobacco either, so I'm in excellent health.

Cool suggestion.. Used to do this with dried out tobacco (also used potato, orange peel, carrots.. :-) and worked great. Lettuce definitely has the least impact on the taste.

Came in here to basically say this. Grind it up and who cares if it was originally compressed. The only part you're missing out on is admiring the beauty of really high grade buds. It's worth it for the kind of quality you can get here.
If it bothers you way too much - grow your own!

Guys,
Like i said, some people on here buy wholesale so they can resell on the street. Many street buyers don't understand the concept, and don't forget about the other competition out there. When other people have fluffy airy nugget, when an 8th looks like a quarter vs an 8th looking like 1.5-2 g's, i'm going to buy the fluffy nugget just because. YA DIG?
As for the water curing, i did it but after drying out the nugget it seemed to dry out more than it was originally and lost some weight. I only expiremented with a .2 nugget and shrunk down to .1. I'm going to try with a larger amount next time and use an 8th. We'll see, might post pics to show difference to.

You just gotta find a vendor that doesn't compress the buds, it's not really possible to "uncompressed" them. And like the guy above said, compressed buds hurts the bag appeal so you get less for it. Also when you smash the trichomes all up and expose the oils inside them it must decompose faster when exposed to air, light, ect.
