I may be attempting to bring some weed back home from California when i visit there for Christmas. Anyone done this before? What should I do?

I would mail it to myself before I thought about smuggling...

Generally if you're sneaky enough bringing cannabis among airliners is not too much trouble at all. Dogs are usually sniffing for bombs and guns and things of that nature that can implicate realistic harm.

How much are we talking about?
If its just 20 joints worth, try my method. Buy a Rizla cigarette machine the kind that rolls a filter into your cigarettes. Get a bag of filters. Don't worry if you have too many they make great earplugs too LOL. Really clean your weed so its uniform, grind it pretty fine. Roll yourself 20 really nice joints. Take the pack which has been opened, fill the cigs in there and place it in a big ziploc bag with 2 other packs of cigarettes. Zip that sucker shut really good and put it in the middle of your clothes in the suitcase. Fly with the comfort that you know you're headed somwhere loaded and ready to blaze ;)
I've done this on domestic flights just to be accurate, no international experiences, so caution is advised there.

nothing more than an oz. We were originally gonna roll 20 jays because i have about 3 packs of rolling papers and i'd just take the other 1/4 and mail that back.

I travel with pot all the time. If you're going to pack some, make sure it's in your suitcase, not your carry on. Travelling domestically is easy as they never check your luggage. You just wheel your bag up to the luggage conveyor belt and away it goes. I usually wrap it in 3-4 ziploc bags, pack those in my overnight wash kit and make sure the wash kit is packed in the middle of my luggage with lots of stuff around it.
Flying international, you need to be a little more careful as they may open your bag and have a look. I get a shampoo bottle with a wide open top. Again, pack the pot into ziplock and roll it tight so it fits into the shampoo bottle. Empty the shampoo into a holding container, pack the pot into the shampoo bottle, and then fill it back up with shampoo. Put the shampoo bottle into a big ziploc bag ("in case it leaks"). I go out of town on business a few times a month, maybe 25-30 trips per year. Been doing it like that for 10 years, never had a problem. Maybe a bit of overkill, but better than the alternative of ending up in a foreign prison.

Try using a smelly proof bag (or stink sac) or any vacuum sealer with a turkeybag . Very safe way to transport, Vacuum-->MasonJar with foam inside ---> foam outside by foam I mean that spraying foam... this is assuming you want to transport in the safest manner

Yeah I've traveled states with tons of weed + other various drugs twice... Buy a pair of underwear or make one with a hidden compartment. Make sure you triple vacuum seal the weed and then just stuff it in. viola.

if you have anything crotched.....you need to AVOID the new body scans. I would never go thru one of those things whether I was carrying or not. But when you opt out be prepared for a more thorough pat down. I hate FUCKING TERRORISTS who have now made it harder for me to travel with weed. Fucking Underwear Bomber.....at least his dick got burned off. :-)

Terrorists didn't make it harder for you to travel with weed the fucking TSA facists and the US government did and everyone will allow them to get away with it in interest of "security".

I wouldn't do it, because if you get selected for random screening your fucked. Just mail it to yourself, my friend sent my pipe to me with no vac seal or anything and it got through the mail. Not buds, but it was loud.

But you are correct in how everyone seems to allow the govt to scan us "naked" in the interest of security.
Before the body scanners I used to carry up to an OZ or so on my person without too much concern. Not anymore.

That's really funny, I've always done it the same exact way, with the shampoo bottle. Only ever done it domestically though.
But yeah like everyone else is saying, don't carry it on or you will almost certainly get hassled about it. And don't worry about dogs, because unless you're flying back from Mexico or Amsterdam or something, any dogs at the airport will be bomb sniffing dogs. They can only train a dog to do one thing.

I had heard, but haven't confirmed (nor googled, nor searched, nor cared), that a dog's attention span is so low that they're only good for about 45 minutes of sniffing. After that, if the same dog is still there, it's only for show.
So, if this is true, and you witness a dog swap, kill a few minutes before you walk by.

im curious as to which countries your going thru. domestic shouldnt be a problem .. but international?
