Are you using a PGP front-end like PGP4Win or GnuPG or are you using CLI?

There's a 'Newbie PGP Club' dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=107219.0 I'd highly recommend you visit it, there's lots of useful PGP information there, if your operating windows I'll be able to teach you, if your operating mac I'm afraid I won't be able to, however there's other members in the club who can :)

https://www.igolder.com/pgp/ makes it extremely easy, not sure about security precautions going about it this way.

-----END PGP PRIVATE KEY BLOCK-----

Whilst I'm sure this key has been replaced by now, it serves as a valuable reminder of what *not* to do.  Ever.

1)  Do not use a PGP tool run from an external website (e.g. IGolder).
2)  Do not use any PGP-like software based on the Bouncy Castle libraries (e.g. Portable PGP, IGolder, etc.).
3)  Do not use a PGP key of a size lower than 2048-bit strength.
4)  Do not post your private key anywhere, only post the public key.

The post above broke every single one of those rules.
If you need more reasons why igolder is unsafe do a search on the main forum homepage, you'll find plenty of warning posts about it. Don't take easy street, learn PGP properly (I promise it's not as hard as it looks), keep anonymous and stay safe everyone :)

Use kleopatra if on Windows. Import public key, create blank document, choose encrypt (ASCII armor), then select the recipients. Done deal time for dinner

Get GNU Privacy Assistant it is the graphic front end to GNU PGP.  It's really easy to use to creat a new key just click new key.  To import a key just click import and to export your public key just click export.  It order to encrypt something just click on clipboard then type your message into it and click encrypt and select the key you would like to encrypt with.  To decrypt paste the message into the clipboard and click decrypt and select the key you would like to decrypt with.

I admit I had a terrible time learning it, but after testing with others in the pgp club
here...I figured it out pretty quick.

pgp4win here too!

Being a n00b is hard, what exactly is "kleopatra"? .  :o

I think so.

It's the same as if somebody gives you a math formula. Just follow the instructions exactly and do it. After a while it will start to make sense.

I never use Kleopatra. I got it as an add-on to GPA, one .PROG you can use to do PGP. It is not very user friendly though. It looks polished, but is not intuitive and is full of glitches. I would recommend using gpg4usb. A lot of us here use it.
