Title: Tormail can be .net again!
Post by: chronicpain on August 22, 2012, 08:20 pm
I just noticed that tormail.org got their .net back.. I just saw the announcement today, it looks like it doesn't matter which one you use now. .org or .net

I haven't tested it yet, though..

It's good that they won, but we know the .net TLD is vulnerable to the whims of Verisign and by extension the US government and anyone they partner with. Probably better to stick with .org for now.

If I am not mistaken, I believe that .org and .net (as well as .com) have all been claimed by the U.S. government to be under U.S. jurisdiction.

That's right, the only difference is .org uses a different registry (Afilias, I think) to .com and .net.

So really they're better off having both.
