self explanatory thread title I guess.

This method works on any *nix system, including OS X and Linux:

You might find Guru's method easier, though.

Why are you keeping your stuff openly on your Mac anyway? This is extremely unwise. You should keep the program on an encrypted USB and back it up on a secondary USB.

By the way I use Mac too. :)

if I click export in GPG Keychain access.  Does that export a copy of my private and public key?

Further to my message yesterday.

the .gnupg folder in the home drive is also hiddeen by default in Lion if you cant find it.  (Like myself)

To enable hidden files/folders in finder windows:

Open Finder
Open the Utilities folder
Open a terminal window
Copy and paste the following line in:

defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES

Press return

Now hold ‘alt’ on the keyboard and right click on the Finder icon

Click on Relaunch

You should find you will now be able to see any hidden files or folders. One you are done, perform the steps above however, replace the terminal command in step 4 with:

defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles NO

As forementioned by others copy the .gnupg folder to a USB drive for safe keeping.
