That was the article that lead me here, I'd heard of Silk road a few times before but had never registered.
Have people had much luck getting things into NZ?

there are a few threads with vendors saying they have success sending to NZ, but I hear it's pretty difficult.

I am 100% to NZ for the last 13 months.  The elves and I are very sneaky fucks.  As far as news reports, I agree with 4titude.  Articles like that bring more buyers and sellers which is good for all of us.

When the reporter who quoted infectionnz's thread finishes sucking his dick I am next.  All over the world power bases are crumbling.  If you think the Arab Spring was an awakening, wait until the central bankers realize how much fire they are under.  Wait until politicians wake up to the fact that they don't control money any longer, and see how fast they scatter like rats on a sinking ship.

Burn, motherfuckers, burn.  Bitcoin is freedom, bitches.  How ya like me now?  Fuck your taxes and your brutal drug laws and your fucking 1%.  Fuck your poverty and your monetary policy and your oppression parading as "politics".  You've never seen anything like this- it is a firebomb exploding in your midst.  Before the first shot is fired you will have lost the war.  The major battles were all lost while you slept in your castle.

Long live Dread Pirate Roberts.  Long Live Silk Road.  Long Live Bitcoin.

I doubt it tbh. First off the type of people who read The Herald online aren't the type to use SR. I doubt they'd learn about TOR, then .onions and then Bitcoins and then figure out how to get coins. Secondly, to actually find the article you had to go into National news then scroll all the way to the bottom.

Well, setting up Tor is a whole lot easier these days -- I remember years ago when it really was a multi step process.
I've used it off and on for years, played with bitcoin back in the days when mining was actually profitable (but didn't do much, thinking it would never go far. duh)... and heard of silk road last year but today's article got me off my ass to actually check the site.
So I agree with infectionnz, it's not going to be an issue. Safely getting things into NZ is the only issue I'm worried about.

I obviously can't say too much but I have actually processed two orders for Bitcoins from NZ in the past few days - one of the buyers said he'd learned about Silk Road from reading a newspaper article. Presume it was the last one before this?

Yeah never had an issue with NZ and I have 7-8 people that buy from me fairly regularly from there.

NO Psychedelic!  When the reporter is done sucking Infectionz's dick, he can SUCK MY DICK.  The reporter, not Infectionz.  LOL.  As long as the motherfucker who wrote the article is sucking my dick, I am happy.  Or anyone who works for customs can suck it as well.

As long as there is any dick to be sucked and LE is doing the sucking, we're good.  Or the goody-two-shoes media.  Rupert fucking Murdoch can suck my pole.  I consistently meet people in the illegal drug trade who are polite and ethical and that is more than I would say for government, LE, or media in the modern world.

"A Customs officer has been found to be a member of a secretive online marketplace which offers global delivery of illegal drugs, pornography, firearms and fake passports."

That makes it seem like he's some machievallian villian within the inner circle of a criminal enterprise.

Really, he just went onto a site and clicked join.

Isn't it strange that it was his browsing habits that are front and center instead of any crimes?  Is browsing now a crime?  Does he live in North Korea where any means of expression are considered dangerous?  This guy was quite the supercop by the way.  When they arrested him for a little meth his first response is "SILK ROAD IS ON MY PC!!!  I JOINED 5 MONTHS AND 4 DAYS AGO!!!  MY PASSWORD IS __________"  Good god man have you ever heard of lawyering up?  What in HELL?  How about a little screening DPR?  There must be some very basic "are you a fucking dork" index that can be established with a question or two.
