Watchmen.
What a pile of fucking shit. I cannot believe i wasted 3 hours of my life on this piece of fucking garbage.
Thats right folks THREE HOURS!!
Seriously i wish i could turn back time and stop this from being made. The only good thing about this disaster was the girl in the black/yellow latex outfit. Other than that i implore you to stay away from this, your life is too precious!!
-
You should get really really high and watch Master and Commander with Russel Crowe. It'll blow your hair back
-
Master and Commander was an awesome movie. So many of those little gems out there that do not get the recognition they deserve!
Can you think of others?
-
12 Angry Men was a good'un if you haven't seen it yet
-
12 angry men, ill have to check that out on imdb.
Got a movie sorted out for tomorrow, its called Kick-ass. I'll let you know how it goes!
-

Gangs of New York is also pretty sick
The Departed, if you've not seen that you NEED to
-
Whenever I can't find any even remotely watchable movies to download, I stick to my drug movies collection. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or Trainspotting do the job well 8)
-
Master & Commander is my favorite movie, how freaky is that :) 3 people here who all love it despite it not being that well known or have anything to do with illegal activities or drugs.
Definitely the first Matrix movie is a close second, I hate the other two though, they should never have made them.
Stargate is third, but that's not to everyone's taste.
Also: Casino, Goodfellas, Rock N' Rolla, Snatch, Layer Cake... are all obligatory :)
-
Stargate was a movie that more than held its own. Great cast, great script and cool use of cinematography.
They killed it by making a low budget series about it, really. I still cant believe it lasted as long as it did. But seeing as Richard Dean Anderson was one of the main sponsors, he probably kept it alive.
Also, did you know that RDA had a fear of guns?. How the hell does that work out.
-
ted!
-
You're missing out on life if you haven't seen:
Pulp Fiction
No Country for Old Men
There will be Blood
The Usual Suspects
Lucky Number Slevin
Best top five movies I can think of on the fly.
-
In Bruges
'nuff said 8)
-
-.- Don't watch Ted. I just wasted about 2 hours of my life waiting for something funny to happen....
All it is , is retarded fart jokes, weed jokes, and someshit about some Buffalo bill type of father who wants to steal the bear.
But, i agree with the posts above me!, LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN IS A GOOD FUKKIN MOVIE!

:0 i thought ted was a really funny movie! Damn..guess were all entitled to our own opinions tho. I gotta with the person who said you can't go wrong with the drug collection movies :P those are always worthwhile!

Love Kung-fu Hustle - Honors and makes fun of the genre all at the same time :) On the Asian side of things - Watch "Old Boy" fucking awesome and The departed was great but the movie it copied, "Infernal Affairs" is better. Also some good Samurai flicks are "Yojimbo" (fist full of dollars was copied from this one) and its sequel "Sanjuro"... and I am always entertained by the original Zatoichi - they made tons of those
For US productions always liked the artistic quality of "Sin City", the darkness of "fight club" and "seven" and the classic movies like "The good, the bad and the ugly" For drug movies Super Troopers, Pineapple Express and I liked Harold and Kumar Christmas much better than I anticipated
-
people are always sucking watchmen's dick. i'll know not to bother now.
-
Last Samurai
Braveheart
Gangs of New York
KPAX
The Matrix
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
Snatch
Amadeus
Master and Commander
Gladiator
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
There will be Blood
Shawshank Redemption
Inglorious Basterds
Pulp Fiction
Leon
Oldboy
Death Proof
The Battle of Britain
Training Day
The Hangover
Se7en
Fight Club
The Departed
Star Wars Series
The Dark Knight
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Taxi Driver
Escape from Alcatraz
Gran Torino
300
Trainspotting
Children of Men
Battle Royale
The Hurt Locker
Oceans 11
City of God
The Godfather 1,2,3
12 Angry Men
Inception
Schindler's List
The Pianist
The Usual Suspects
Resevoir Dogs
That's a list off the top of my head. Every single one of those films blew me away. Nothing average there.
+1 to the guy saying Oldboy.. and se7en. Fucking sick movies
-
Trainspotting is an awesome movie. It shows what life in scotland is actually like for a lot of the poorer folk.
Ewan McGregor deserved a fuckin oscar for this.
Gran Torino is awesome too. Has anyone seen Harry Brown?. Its basically the same principle story but the guy is an ex-marine who served in northern ireland, so hes got the training to actually take out the fuckers one by one. Well worth watching.
Although americans might want it in subtitles!!
-
Blow
Had it on my HDD for months and watched it last week, awesome movie.
-
XD Fuck yea man, blow is such a great movie.. Heres a list of good ones in my opinion
Blow
Fear and loathing in las vegas
The rum diaries
Tangled ( Watch it on molly or acid....thats how i watched it....you'll never look at that shit the same again... )
Wrath of the titans
Anchor man
Talladega nights : The ballad of ricky bobby
No country for old men
21 Jump Street
Chronicle ( LOVED THIS FUCKIN MOVIE! )
or IF your more into TV shows,
I'd reccomend torrenting alot of Comedy Central presents.
I personally enjoy Mitch hedburg's and Bo Burnham's stand up shows
-
Man Harry Brown is a boss of a film. Cain is a fucking kingpin YET AGAIN
-
Harry Brown is quality, reminded me of Get Carter!! Brilliant!
-
Harry Brown is quality, reminded me of Get Carter!! Brilliant!
Get Carter? I'll have to see this
-
Serenity is also a good fictional space movie, or Event horizon. <- shit was scary as fuck when i saw it
-
Harry Brown! - class class film.
here are a few of my favs. ( in no particular order )
Memento - class film with great acting and twist.
Troll Hunter ( if you like hand held camera films this is a must )
Home Movie ( again hand held - slow to starts but builds to the crazyness of a slipknot video )
shutter island ( loved this movie - a definate must watch twice film )
Requiem for a dream ( although dated now its a truly brilliant film in every way )
Love honour and obey ( brilliant film in the lock stock style but seemed to go under the radar - if you enjoyed lock stock its a must )
Love watching movies so will probably update this thread further as more movies pop into my head.
-
I'll have to check this shit out. If its as good as lock stock I'm down
-
Give it a shot Kapp - il be interested to see what you think!
-
To the person above who asked about Get Carter OMFG!
If you like any movie with Michael Cain, you will love Get Carter. He deals out some serious shit in this one too.
No Country for old men was totally awesome. Javier Bardem was just so cool as a hitman.
-
Finding Nemo, also The Lion King. 8)
Hakuna Matata motherfuckers!
-
Man always in threads like this I hope to find a long list of movies I did not have seen yet :P
But I'ma check out Love Honor and Obey, since I really loved Lock Stock 8)
-
Went to see the new Spiderman with my son over the weekend and wasn't too impressed.
Watched The Wind That Shakes the Barley last night and that was a damn good movie.
I like Last Samurai, Robin Hood, Braveheart, Apocolypto for action type movies.
Comedian Ralphie May 'Too Big to Ignore' is too fucking funny. Its on Netflix. Had me rolling on the floor. Can't remember the last time I laugh that hard.
Fear and Loathing was good but The Rum Diaries seemed kind of slow.
Have to pass on a lot of the recent movies. They pump shit out that isn't worth sitting through.
-
Scooby Doo is the fucking cat's pajamas on shrooms, seriously guys it's cool beans. :o
-
So is Ringo, and Princess mononoke ( Really good anime if you guys are into that stuff )
-
So is Ringo, and Princess mononoke ( Really good anime if you guys are into that stuff )
I watch Studio Ghibli films on a monthly basis man, they're hugely influential to me. ;)
-
I watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas last night for the first time.
WHY HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS BEFORE. It was fucking hilarious.
Anyone here seen Drive? Worth it?
-
Withnail and I (so funny)
-
I watched my neighbor totoro while i was frying balls on lucy. @.@ That fucker looked so god damn cuddly...even with the several skulls growing out of his eyeballs
-
Great movie that Love, Honor and Obey was, cool to see Jude Law in there as well, he's like one of my favorite actors.
-
Glad too see you enjoyed in Knomo - its really strange that not many people know about it considering the style of film and the cast members - and the great great tunes sung throughout lol
-
You know when I read "frying balls on lucy" I don't think of sid - I think of the first Crow movie... I love fear and loathing in Las Vegas, my favorite scene is when he wakes up and the suite that is trashed/flooded with Depp wearing the alligator tail with a chicken in the room because a few times in my life I have been in almost the exact same situation - Probably the same reason I like Hangover so well too
I think people like "Watchmen" because they think they like it's aesthetic qualities - but to me man 3 fucking hours! Really? and even through all that the story kind of sucked. I can't focus on anything for a few minutes let alone 3 hours - Some of the movies that are great for their constant action are "The Rundown" 104 minutes with the Rock & Seann William Scott , Ong Bak 104 Minutes and "the Raid" 101 minutes.... Speaking of Seann William Scott, just finished watching "Goon" 92 minutes and a kick ass movie - I was expecting a shit movie but this one is definitely a guy show. Also if you want watch a action movie your chick will dig too - check out "Chocolate" where a thai autistic girl kick the crap out of a bunch of guys to collect money for her mom with cancer.... for some reason chicks love it when a girl thrashes a bunch of men - hey its a win win for you all
-
@ EnemyOfTheState.
I must admit that the trailers ive seen for the "new" spider man looked pretty shit. WAY too much cgi.
If you want a movie with believable CGI then i highly recommend District 9. You might be a bit put off by the South African accent but its a big budget movie with great effects. You wont be disapointed.
-
I watched Tenacious D and the pick of destiny when I was fucking hammered, and had taken about 40mg of 2c-b. I swear to God I thought that movie was the best thing I had ever seen. But I'm sad to say, I think it was all the drugs
-
Certain movies are definately made for drugs in mind.
When i get high this summer i will have to watch Jay and Silent Bob again.
Ladies in latex anyone?? 8)
-
blow goodfellas bronx tale casino
-
Goodfellas should be at the top ten of everyones list!!
-
I recently watched The Men Who Stare At Goats, enjoyed it quite a lot ^-^
-
I caught parts of that movie after getting home from the pub one night. I do not mind spoilers, but did it turn out they were like "jedi" or was it all a bullshit experiment. I know parts of it are supposedly based on real events.
-
HITMAN.
What a fucking movie. This is the second time i have seen it and the second time it blew me away.
Seriously there are some movies out there that you can just watch again and again, no matter how many times they get repeated on the telly.
Sorry about the new thread but i really couldnt be arsed to find the old one. ;)

It's a great film. Did you spot the bit where they're playing the game in the background?
-
Casino
-
@Louis I certainly did bro, although i didnt realize it until this time around, as after the first viewing i ordered the games right away. Then after playing the first one it was like "holy shit oh yeah..".
Another plus of the movie is the russian girl that plays alongside Olyphant. She is just totally hot in every way!.
Casino is good, but Casion Royale is better :P The Daniel Craig version, not the stupid David Niven one. 8)

No arguments there! :)

Casino Royale didn't work for me, but only because I've read the novel and Bond is supposed to be quite young when it happens. Around 25 or a little younger and that's an age that Daniel Craig just can't pull off.
-
"The Man From Earth", blew my mind!
-
A History of Violence
Trainspotting
Ferngully The Last Rainforest
-
I still haven't seen Ted yet.
-
A History of Violence is a good movie.
Spoilers
He takes out those guys in the coffee shop in a truly fucking awesome way.
Did you spot his girlfriends massive bush after he fucks her on the stairs??! I honestly lol'd when i saw it.
-
The Cabin in the Woods
Absolutely brilliant and hilarious meta-narrative of western gladiator capitalism seen through the prisim of the horror genre that also has interesting religious implications. Gotta love Joss Whedon (or at least some of his stuff).

Anyone here like Wes Anderson's movies?

Anyone here like Wes Anderson's movies?
Hell yeah, they're genius! He's one of my favorites next to Quentin Tarantino. Steve Zizzou is my go-to movie to watch when I'm having a bad trip, it's just so innocent and fun to watch. :))

Anyone here like Wes Anderson's movies?

YES. Props to you for having good taste :D But yeah, I love The Life Aquatic. I would say The Royal Tenenbaums is my favorite though. Have you seen Moonrise Kingdom? I've heard really great things...and really *not so great* things about it.

FUCKEN YES! my all time favorite movie is Royal Tenenbaums, something about gene hackmans character is unbelievable, aside from the story itself. all wes anderson films are dear to me...am i the only one that actually got touched when Steve Zissou (bill murrays character) finds the tiger shark creature and everyone touches his shoulder? seriously wes anderson has a great connection with comedy/tragedy. I learned alot about my friends based on their enjoyment or disapproval of his films and thank you guys for bringing him up

I'm glad to see that there are Wes Anderson fans here :) I saw a guy the other day on here and his username was Zissou, which I think is pretty awesome, haha. But yeahh, I love that part of The Life Aquatic too! And I love the way Wes Anderson uses a lot of the same actors throughout his films. It just makes me happy because those actors BELIEVE in Anderson's work and it shows.
And I, too, have learned a lot about my friends based off of their opinions of his films. The ones that enjoy his films are the ones that are still my friends ;)

Gladiator
Such a fucking classic, had to see it again
-
Gladiator is a great movie, although it practically ruined Russel Crowes career. He got up his own arse even when they were making the movie. In the scene where he gives the "I am maximus decimus meridius" speech, he threw the script on the floor and said im not reading that shit.
Turned out to be one of the best scenes in the movie!!
Seriously, what a douche.
-
reservoir dogs :)
-
Reservoir Dogs is great. All of Tarantinos work is original and brilliant.
-

Crowe did a great job in Cinderella Man. Gladiator is one of my favs but I like 300 even better

+1 for you ralph my good fellow SR traveler. Next to District 9, 300 is my all time fav.
-
Fuck all the Hollywood blood festivals of pornographic violence!
Ever seen 'its w wonderful life?'
Watch that shit every year at Christmas, and weep!
Might be the Christmas hash cake making me emotional.
B and W movie but they have coloured it.
Sob.
:'(
-
Thats a class film to watch at christmas mate, i watch it whenever its on.
Only the original black and white version though, for me the colored version just looks, fake.
-
Cinderella Man
never watched it because i found the title to be unappealing (very stupid)
ended up watching it roughly a year ago, for the first time.
UN-beliebvable.....that is the top 2 movies crowe has been in (gladiator obviously is the other one)
but cinderalla man touched me man, the fact that its all true, current boxers praise him still to this day and jesus, i cried like a bitch at one point...just watch it if u havent
-
I will have to check Cinderella man out. I thought Crowe was awesome in "A beautiful mind". That really did choke me up in parts. The guy can act, but i think he fucked up his reputation due to big-headedness.
Anyway on another train of thought, speaking about titty factor, what is that movie with all the cheerleaders in it?
(No its not a porno!)
And, i do wish i lived in america sometimes!! 8)
-
having seen both, twice, i can easily say without hesitation, cinderalla man is pound for poiund more moving and enjoyable! def watch
-
That reminds me, oliver reed died during the making of Gladiator.
Couldnt believe it at the time. He helped the guy playing the young kind over come his fear of the role.
He said "sure you can do it, lets go and have a pint!"
What a guy.
-
Batman! I saw it on opening night and was BLOWN AWAY haha lol
-
Thats a sick joke dude.
Although, if you have seen it REALLY, i must know EVERYTHING!!.

Thanks Adasel. Yeah, I've seen Dist.9. It was a good flick. I've heard somewhere that they are going to do a sequel. Wanting to go see the new Batman, but at this point I'll wait for the hype and 'other events' to die down. No pun intended.

There have been many rumors regarding a sequel for district 9, supposedly named D10 for the second settlement that was built for the aliens. From what i understand the writers are taking their time. They want it to be a perfect movie like the original.
However i fear a sequel wont happen. Many sequels have ruined originals, too many to name for now. Just because a movie has an open ending it doesnt mean it needs to have all the loose ends tied up.
As for No Country for Old Men, that was a VERY cool movie, and i was well sutprised how it turned out.
-
withnail & i
absolutely fuckin classic brit movie
-
Watching no country for old men right now.Its a lot cooler than I thought it would be.Its pretty good. That's my movie of the day.
I watched that movie twice in the theatre and enjoyed it both times. What'd you think of it after watching it all the way through? I'm a big movie buff and used to work at a video rental store, and this movie is easily in my top 20.
-
withnail and i is great.
As for No Country for old men ((S P O I L E R S))
i was gutted that the lead hero got done by the assassin. It was a bit of a let down how it just suddenly seemed to end.
-
I prefer the book No Country For Old Men. Anyone seen Wild Bill? Best British film I have seen in ages.

LOL thanks for that.
As for Wild Bill my brother wouldnt shut the fuck up about that movie. I think i know everything that happens now, still worth watching?.

I wanna watch V for Vendetta for one purpose, Natalie Portman.
-
I wanna watch V for Vendetta for one purpose, Natalie Portman.
Natalie Portman. I've seen her tits.
-
Anyone seen Wild Bill? Best British film I have seen in ages.
I think i know everything that happens now, still worth watching?.
Just watched Wild Bill last night. Excellent movie, and love the ending. I liked a lot of the cinematography too, some of the scenes of the Olympic Stadium being built right next to the council estate are really thought provoking. You need to watch it to see what I mean, it's hard to explain.
Anyone else notice how at the beginning he's leaving HMP Parkhurst prision on the Isle of Wight?
No? oh well just me then :P
-
Natalie Portman dreamy yes she issss ! ::)
-
Natalie Portman is fucking horny, i dont know why. When i saw her in one of the "new" star wars movies she was wearing a white jump suit. Sorry, but that was it from then! 8)
-
Oh and just to add The Pahtom menace killed off the series for me. Natalie Portman and the ROTS is what makes it great in my opinion.
And why did The Phantom Menace ruin it all??? I'm going to let you all guess ;D
-
because anakin' was a cheap spin off Luke, who then prolly spined' off some other shit...
I use to have original 88 mm film cells of the movie..shit was BOMB !
-
LOL oh yeah. I'm glad us fellow star wars fans can tell each other apart.
-
lol, im not sure where i heard this, but Boba Fett didnt die ?
-
lol, im not sure where i heard this, but Boba Fett didnt die ?
That was in the comics and apparently canon. Apparently he used his jetpack to get out of the Sarlac. He later appeared in at least one of the computer games.
-
True. George Lucas was so surprised by the fan backlash when he "killed" Boba Fett that he brought him back in a backasswards way. Boba Fett is the only individual to ever escape the Sarlacc Pit.
Also, the Sarlacc Pit sounds like the worst way to die. Apparently it keeps you alive for centuries.
-
DAMN.. know i gotta check that out
I luv SR !
-
Because most sarlacci inhabit isolated environments and rely on prey to stumble into their pit, they rarely feed. As a result, sarlacci have evolved an efficient digestive process. The stomach of a sarlacc slowly dissolves prey into nutrients in a painful process that can last for several thousands of years. Victims are kept alive in the acid-filled stomach throughout digestion and few ever escape. This is one aspect of the sarlacc that makes it such a feared creature. As the droid C-3PO announces (translating for Jabba the Hutt) in Return of the Jedi, "In his belly, you will find a new definition of pain and suffering as you are slowly digested over a thousand years". If no living prey is available, a sarlacc relies on its root system to absorb nutrients. One sarlacc located on an airless moon feeds on cometary material rich in oxygen, hydrogen, carbon, and nitrogen that drifts into its mouth.
The sarlacc's stomach is lined with a fibrous network of vessels that attach themselves to a swallowed victim. According to the Star Wars Databank, the prey is incorporated into the sarlacc's biological system as it is digested. Besides digestive acids, the stomach also contains mind-altering neurotoxins which keep victims from struggling and escaping. The toxins induce hallucinations in prey which "suggest that the sarlacc somehow absorbs the intelligence of all its victims, who live on in disembodied torment". A sarlacc can communicate with its victims through this stolen consciousness. In one Star Wars short story, an old, unnamed Jedi woman who falls into the sarlacc on Tatooine explains that "sarlacci do interesting things with messenger RNA: over the course of millennia, they can attain a sort of group consciousness, built out of the remains of people they've digested. I talked to such a sarlacc, once a few decades ago". She too becomes part of the sarlacc's consciousness.
That's scary as hell if you ask me. So it apparently feeds on your intelligence for thousands of years while you hallucinate the entire time while being digested? That would be a literal version of Hell, yikes! :o
-
Man, thanks to Gary O I watched the Star Wars movies on MXE....Fucking deep shit!!! Especially 'Attack Of The Clones' & 'Revenge Of The Sith'!! Mad sheeeeitt!! I'm more a fan of the original Star Wars films but those two are proper bad!! Especially on MXE!!!

Any of you guys ever check out the British film "Bronson" it's a little different but I enjoyed it.
Thinking about drug films
"Requiem for a Dream" was great from what I remember, also liked "pineapple express", "super troopers", "Friday" and some of the old cheech and chong movies. Have to make sure I mention Half Baked because the line said by Bob Saget (when they were in addiction counseling) is classic "Marijuana is not a drug. I used to suck dick for coke. Now that's an addiction. You ever suck some dick for marijuana?" That coming from the Full House dad will always be hilarious to me.
Thanks BandW

Bronson was a great movie, a real treat when i saw it.
It really shows what goes on in the mind of a guy like that.
SPOILERS
When they stick him in the nut house and he fucking fights through the drugs they give him, that shows how determined that guy really was.
You should read his books, i have one called Solitary Fitness. The guy designed a system of getting huge without needing weights and protein drinks.
He has one numerous records for press ups. He even signed a copy of his record and gave it to one of the kray's, who hung it up in his cell!.

In Bruges
'nuff said 8)
In bruges is fucking awesome. Colin Farell and Brendon Gleeson are awesome in this.
As for Infernal Affairs, i watched this BEFORE i saw the departed. All i can say is that The Departed disappointed the fuck out of me.
-
Warrior, fucking awesome movie.
-
Dark City and the Men who stare at goats.
Just watched them over the weekend and both are outstanding.

DUDE, I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE SAYING! It sucks though, some of the horrible stuff I've done I can't come to terms with; it always stays on the back of my mind because I choose to have a conscience. What the hell do I do to cleanse my soul of this stuff :-\
-
This is way off topic, stay focused people!
-
on that movie note, i enjoyed GOOD WILL HUNTING reminds me of me, especially now during my higher learning..
im watchin DARK KNIGHT rises now, and this movie is on POINT ! its not the BATMAN world where its all crazy its more realistic in this sequel
-
Went to see The Dark Knight Rises last night with my older son. Without being a spoiler it didn't end at all like I had thought it would. Another major twist in the plot and the introduction of Robin. Overall a descent flick that keeps your attention.
Without hijacking the thread I found myself wondering about certain recent events. The recent shooting in Aurora was at the midnight premier of the third installment of The Dark Knight. According to the timeline police provided to the media the first major 'battle scene' w/ Bane has lots of shooting and explosions is when the guy went on his rampage. Pretty loud scene. How did the shooter know to utilize that part of the film, or did he? Since no one had seen the film yet how did he know he would be able to use that particular scene to carry out his madness? Just a thought.
-
Just watched J Edgar, pretty cool movie.. Might be a bit slow for most but I quite liked it :)

I like how he burns down the prison so they declare him sane and release him. It's hard to believe that it's based on real events, but it is. It's also true that if you cause enough issues for the authorities that they will eventually just want to get rid of you and leave you alone. Nowadays he'd be declared a terrorist and sent to Guantanamo Bay.
-
I would say hed be more of an anarchist than a terrorist, but hey i dont think he would turn down a demolition job if serious cash was involved!
-
Just watched 'Wild Bill'. It was great.

Just watched 'Wild Bill'. It was great.
I like the way it's very down to earth, very realistic.

Gantz and Gantz: Perfect Answer
The live action movies, not the anime.
Particularly if you're high.
-
Just watched Momento. I've always been told how great this was and I have to say it lived up to the hype.
-
Yeah Momento is a great film, I might just watch it again tonight - You know I have been watching "The Big Bang Theory"tv series lately and it reminds me of a great film "Suicide Kings" love the dialog in that movie
-
Last night i watched a torturous movie called District 13. The critics raved about this because its got PARQOUR street jumping in it, or however you spell it.
Torturous as in having to sit and fucking watch it, the first 15 minutes is amazing but after that, fuck i didnt even bother with the last ten minutes.
-
hahaha.. stupid aliens.
i just finished watchin SLC punk
damn good funny movie
-
Speaking of aliens i had to laugh when Battleship bombed lower at the cinema than John Carter.
The tragic thing is though a lot of people i know actually liked JC.
-

It's spelled Memento >_<
Sorry, I love that movie and can't help but correct that :-*
-
Has no one here seen District 13??
I need to bitch about it some more lol
-
You say Memento, I say Momento, You say Potato, I say Patato... Let's call the whole thing off ;)
Has anyone seen the Prometheus movie? I was thinking, how old is Weyland? And, how long was he in Hypersleep? Because, isn't Vickers too young to be his daughter unless she is an android. And why was the medi-computer thing in her escape pod only programed for males? And why... and why... oh, I just realized, the whole film doesn't make any sense...yet? :o ???
-
My brother went to see Prometheus when it was released. He said it was the most boring movie ever.
One thing he couldnt understand is why the human looking alien keeps attacking them.
A friend he went to see it with expressed his opinions infront of every one as the credits started "I wasted my fucking money on this fucking shit for that fucking stupid pointless ending!!""
Apparently my brother looked on as everyone started staring.
Wish i had been there.
-
'Blow' on today.....It's making me drool for cocaine though!!! lol
-
Blow was a great movie. It was actually the first time i had heard of Pablo Escobar (yeah i know).
Apparently there are conspiracy theories as to whether or not hes actually still alive.
-
The Eagle.
Not bad at all!!!
The critics slated it because it was all but one american actors, but fuck me im not listening to those idiots anymore.
-

I though JC was a damn descent movie. Of course I was a Edgar Rice Burrough fan as a kid too. Also read a lot of Robert E. Howard's Conan series.

I can't comment on either John Carter or Battleship, I haven't seen them. But your username reminded me that Enemy of the State is an excellent film.

Seconded. I recall how blown away i was by enemy of the state. No real use of cgi, mild explosions "from what i remember", just a good old fashioned fast paced action movie!.
-
Yeah great film, forgot about that one
-
Watched Martyrs a while back - quiet a hauntingly disturbing film.
Bought Ichi the Killer the other day, fucking love that film. Takashi Miike has done some awesome films, Audition was another good one, long build up to a truly shocking end.

FLUTTERSHY'S MOVIE OF THE DAY
Diamond's Are Forever, the 007 movie from the 70s. Is it a good movie? No, not by any means. But it is probably my favorite Bond movie because it is sooo freaking funny! Seriously, you have Bond being chased in the desert on a moon buggy, a random-ass fight in an elevator, Blofeld in drag for no real reason, Bambi and Thumper, and perhaps the funniest villians Bond has ever had to face, 2 gay hitmen who look like they walked out of a cheap porn. It's great, and because it's very colorful throughout, a good movie to watch while either high or drunk! Go find it, now!
-
Watched 'Beetle Juice' last night! Sickkk!!! lol
Also watched 'Battleships' which has great FX on the fight scenes
-
Diamonds are forever is Roger Moore as bond isnt it??.
If so, there is your reason for it being colourful!.
Most people will tell you that Sean Connery is the best Bond, but i have to disagree. Moore bought so much humour and fun to the role it made every movie more enjoyable.
And of course he got the best bond girl of them all Barbra Bach!!!. 8)

ACTUALLY Diamonds Are Forever has Connery as Bond. He returned to the movie franchise after leaving. Moore's run followed his.
-
Connery was the best OG but I do quite like Daniel Craig as Bond too...
-
Daniel Craig re-invented the Bond character, which pretty much put him in a league of his own.
He therefore is in-comparable to any other of the bond actors!!.
My mistake about Diamonds are forever being Moore. I guess after a while the wine plays havoc with the brain cells!.

terminator 2judgment Day 8)
-
Dont get me started!
Terminator 2 was like a kids movie in comparison to the first. And as for the tv series fuck me, whoever came up with that idea needs to be pinned to the wall and shot in the head with a hand-cannon.
Come to think of it, James Cameron is like the Michael Bay of science-fiction movies.
If anything of recent years, the re-imagined Star Trek movie was awesome on every level.
Special effects, casting, direction. JJ Abraham or however the fuck you spell it is a genius.
Sure he fucked up with LOST but hey, every director has their highs and lows!.
-
I agree as producer, writer director or what ever the fuck he is JJ Abrams he is pretty good - Yeah I still enjoyed Lost even though you could tell they were just making up shit to keep it going, Yeah I liked Alcatraz even though there were plot holes you could drive a truck through and Yeah I like Fringe even though they are doing what they did to Lost and make shit up to keep it going. I thought the star trek thing was great and can't wait for the new one he is going to put out.
The guy who I think is a genius... Vince Gilligan - pretty much has only done two things but those two are the X-Files and Breaking Bad, I wish he would produce more shit but to have those two home-runs on your resume you can pretty much only go downhill from there.
-
as long as the idea is put on film, and captured through its essence... terminator looked pretty cool with the special effects and all that.. with the whole set up of judgment day as the end of the world.. but nothing like War of the Worlds. or even Independence day... who directed them ? You all think those were at least ok ?
-
i'm watching training day with denzel
-
War of the worlds and Independence Day are what i like to call stand-alone films.
They are great within their own merits and there is no way a sequel can, or should be made.
Such as District 9. Just because the movie is left with an open ending, it doenst mean it should have a sequel.
As for Fringe i had to stop watching it for a while. I totally got the feeling they were making it up, when they decided to bring William Bell back from the dead within Olivias body. I mean, seriously.....?
-
I thought i would add this.
Fight Club. Another stand alone movie that rocks on every level.
-
Yeah love fight club... speaking of squeals can you believe they are making a sequeal to "Taken" with the same fricken plot line except the wife and daughter are taken.... what originality
-
i never seen fight club to pay attention. my old hippy girlfriend kept sayin' its the bomb ! lol. here and her crazy antics.. all i know is that he aint really in the world he is in.... lol . man i remember durin those days i was taken them out to smoke and stuff.. i should of paid attention to it then.
-
Fight Club is a classic, three really good actors at the top of their games, with a brilliant story. And the twist at the end... Makes for a good second viewing.
Training Day is just brilliant. Again two great actors with an awesome script, great direction, editing, casting and even an cameo from Snoop Dogg. What more could you ask for?
What did you guys think of Brooklyn's Finest (also made by Training Day's director Antoine Fuqua). I think that went even deeper into the whole world of criminals and police, than Training Day. I don't think the plot was as engaging, but there were more threads to hang together. All in all a really good, gritty film with some star performances by Ethan Hawke and Don Cheadle. With Richard Gere and Wesley Snipes even putting in some good performances.
-
Just watched Winter's Bone tonight - what a bleak but absolutely riveting movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1399683/ - deserves better than 7.3/10. I'd give it an 8.5 - 9.
Jennifer Lawrence - who's Katniss in the Hunger Games - seems to have that 'girl in a world of shit but a turns out to be a tough, persistent motherfucker' character down pat; also John Hawkes - who's Kenny Powers brother Dustin in Eastbound & Down - is fucking excellent as her mad meth-head uncle. Both of them got Oscar nominations for it - didn't know this til afterwards though. My missus had been going on about it for a while, to the point where I maybe stuck it on just to shut her up.
It's dead basic, you have a fair idea where the plot's going, but still...great movie.
-
Yeah love fight club... speaking of squeals can you believe they are making a sequeal to "Taken" with the same fricken plot line except the wife and daughter are taken.... what originality
Seriously what the fuck, a sequel to Taken?
I would have thought Liam Neeson would have too much pride to have anything to do with it.
Lets hope it better be a fucking awesome script and a fucking awesome screenplay.
Oh, and lets hope Neeson is given some more original moves instead of the classic "karate chop to the neck"!
Honestly though i hope its just some mis-information bullshit about a sequel. This post has seriously fucked up my head.
-
Yeah he must have some gambling debt we don't know about - It seriously fucked with me too - no joke - just kept on thinking say it isn't so Liam say it isn't so
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpaT8NzkLgE here is the trailer
-
He is keeping himself busy doing movies constantly ever since his wife died it seems.
-
Keeping yourself busy is one thing, but giving yourself a bad name for shoddy movies is another!!.
-

Wish i had been there.
Shit! I was hoping it would be half way descent.
-
Yeah i know. I think it had a small following in our country because it stayed at the top for a few weeks.
But generally the opinion across the board is that it is total fail.
Well, what do you expect, asides from Blade Runner and one other i cant think of, this is Scotts third ever sci-fi flick.
-
Watched The Dictator ( Sacha Baron Cohen )
Oh my god! one of the funniest films ive ever seen - had me giggling the whole way through.
If you appreciate Cohen sense of humor youl love this - he goes pretty damn far.
Great film to have a smoke n watch.
Head in the shower! - nearly fucking choked!
-
i thought the Dictator was lame, easily the worst of the Cohen films, including Ali G
-
I saw the trailers for the dictator and i have to say it looked funny as hell.
This is the problem with "comedy" movies these days, like any other movie they will always show you the best parts in the trailers.
Thats what killed it for me with Iron Man 2, not a comedy i know, but fuck me was it shit.
-
Rauol - I guess Cohens humor is a matter of taste ( and setting too i guess ) - Love Borat - hate Bruno and prefered Ali G back when he was a five minute sketch on the elevven oclock show.
True abot the trailers Adasel - every time I watch a comedy im praying its gona be something decent - and usually let down!
The dictator had me in stitches from start to finish - no lie.
and trust me - theres a lot in the film, to be honest the trailer doesnt do it near enough justice.
-
Going to see Dredd this weekend. I wasn't going to bother, I thought it looked shit at first. Now I've seen the reviews (and that it's an 18! A films got to do a lot nowadays to get an 18, it's not like the 80's or 90'sa anymore. Dredd contains 'Strong violence and gore', love a bit of gore me), I think I'll go. Used to love 2000AD when I was a kid.
"I AM the law" 8)
-
Yeah I thought borat and Bruno was quality, and even Ali g was ok. Just didn't think that much to the dictator
-

That bitch that fell to the floor when she new shed been caught by the cops, one of the greatest moments in movie history"
As for The Green Mile, did you see that Michael Clark Duncan died the other day?? Fucking sad, heart attack.
