I have a linux usb memory stick etc but don't know how to use the PGP.
I have made a successful order before but did not use PGP because they were having problems with it.
This vendor is requiring it (I'd like to regardless)
I understand the concept of it that I write a message end encode it or w.e so that they need to enter their pin to unlock the message but actually doing it confuses me.
Like what do I even go on once I have booted up my memory stick? What do I do from there?
If there is any threads on it that would be nice thanks :)

This document provides a very good explanation of how OpenPGP/PGP/GPG and public key cryptography works:
ftp://ftp.pgpi.org/pub/pgp/6.5/docs/english/IntroToCrypto.pdf (clearnet)
Note: it predates GPG so it only refers to PGP.

Here's a book everyone can read: No.Starch.Press.PGP.and.GPG.Email.for.the.Practical.Paranoid.Mar.2006.pdf - http://ocrlwkklxt3ud64u.onion/files/1340929812.pdf
I'd forgotten about that one, it's probably better for everyone here since it covers the current state of OpenPGP, PGP and GPG in better detail. Good to see there's a copy within Tor.

I thought you werent supposed to open .pdf files on the darkweb because it could unmask your ip/location.... ?? am I wrong/paranoid?

No it indeed is true. I'm not sure if it's always the case, but it's possible for .pdf files to unmask you (ie automatically connect to the clearweb, I don't know the ins and outs). They say so on the torproject website.
I believe a safer procedure is to save the file, then disconnect from internet and open it.

I also recently made a guide to PGP/GPG on Linux, and others responded to the thread with more information like graphical apps are available, maybe it can help? :)

That file exactly matches the copy I downloaded a couple of years or more ago, including the SHA sum and my copy hasn't tried to connect to any sites. It just appears to be a normal PDF file, created with Adobe InDesign CS.
That said, take whatever precautions on it you like.
