Title: About withdrawal
Post by: ro11 on June 29, 2012, 09:49 am
Hi,
I have a question about withdrawal.
Over 24 hours ago I requested withdrawal to my BTC-address, but I haven't got money so far, BTC-client shows "0 BTC". And there is no my transaction on http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/txlist/

Is this normal? How long can BTC go to address?

Thanks.

Hi,

You don't need to withdraw if you use a condom.  Sorry, couldn't resist.

The normal Bitcoin rate is 1-6 hours to get all 6 confirmations, but SR tumbles the BTC to help anonymise it when paying money out.  I'm not sure how much time this can take.

OMG
I entered my BTC-address on http://blockchain.info/ and it shows me that money sent to my wallet at 10 am yesterday, but balance on my BTC-client on PC is still 0.
what am I doing wrong?

PS "Confirmations:   177 confirmations"

Hmmm, I'm not sure.  Does your client say whether or not it is up to date and the number of blocks it has in the transaction history?

Oh, client hasn't synchronized with network yet.
I'm so stupid. :(

Not stupid, just panicked.  Not to worry.  If the client isn't running constantly it can take a while to catch up.  :)

It is a bit large, probably larger than it needs to be.  I expect some form of compression will be added at some point in the future.

Or they may come out with a thin client that views the block chain from multiple locations. Thant way you don't have to download the entire chain. There was also talk of creating another genesis block that hold all of the previous transactions and start over with the bock chain. But who knows we may one day have a 50 gig block chain to download.???

There's also talk of working on the protocol to get the individual block size down from the current size.  If a block could be reduced to 1Kb the entire current blockchain would be under 200Mb.  Currently the average block size is around 10Kb, although the actual size varies according to the number of transactions.

Apparently there is already the facility to support deletion of unused portions of the local database, but no client yet supports it:
