The amount of people I know who use a mac and can get the SR running but cannot get the PGP equiv on the mac going, I am a computer guy but know very little about macs!
Does anyone know of a tutorial or would be willing to write one to show all those mac users how to stay secure and stay safe?

Download Portable PGP from Soundforge. It's a small app that will work well on a Mac.

Get Tor bundle for Mac, that's pretty obvious, then download WineBottler. This is a program for running .exe files on Mac. Use gpa4win and run it in Winebottler using a custom prefix (you'll find out what this means). It should run smoothly after that, but obviously some buttons may not show up. I've been able to encrypt/decrypt and generate a key :)
Hope that helps!

Have you tried
http://www.gpgtools.org/
???

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE -- IT IS BROKEN.
There are people on here who have used this software; some of them have 512-bit Elgamal ecryption keys. 512 bit keys can now be cracked by hobbyists!

Wasn't aware of that, we just use it for decryption purposes and as a stand alone quick decrypt program it's great.

Hopefully you don't have OS 10.6.8 like we do because it has a whole host of problems in dealing with PGP as well as other aspects relating to what you may want in the darknet side of things (tormail, etc)

There are two basic options:
1) GPG Tools (gpgtools.org), if the user needs a GUI then use this.
2) Compile 1.4.x (current version is 1.4.12) from source in /usr/local/src (it will install to /usr/local/bin). The process is identical to doing this on Linux.
I use the latter option on both OS X and Linux. I never use Windows.

I've been compiling my own on Linux for ages, but I never thought to try this on the Mac. Does Mac include GCC and the other utilities required to do this by default?

Good question. I believe you'll need to install the Xcode developer kit from Apple's developer site. It's a free download, but you need to register for it. Although chances are they already have the registration data from when you first booted the system.
