At the moment there is only the option for bitcoins/$.
Sure, we can just use an online converter but this would require very very minimal coding to implement, and it'd be nice to be able to see things in GBP personally.
-
Agreed.
It's a pain in the arse having to convert everything in my head - especially when fucked.
-
+1 I agree with this as well.
People have been asking for it for ages, and a large proportion of Silk Road's users are from Europe and the UK. For some reason despite it being asked for several times, it's yet to happen which leads me to believe that perhaps the CMS Silk Road is made with doesn't support this feature and the administrators don't know how to add it or program it in (it's incredibly simple to do). If Silk Road doesn't use a CMS then even easier.
It's double irritating because the figure I have for Bitcoins to GBP in my head changes all the time which means I have to keep looking it up and I'm lazy.

I agree with you guys, +1 for €uro!

Would be nice to have an options to price things in your currency of choice.
When stoned, BTCs mean nothing. You can spend too much on things which if priced in £ you may look for other vendors.
And BTC is really going up of late. Its' £3.70 now!!!!! ???
-
Would be great if vendors could peg to GBP/EUR.
Also of course buyers can choose which currency they'd like to view in.

Maybe they keep it only $/btc so the police think this stuff is only in the USA.. ::)
When you add euro/pound they go like omgz this shit is worldwide!! :o
And we get MI6 and Interpol and all that involved too :P Just a thought

I don't know if you're joking or not but I'm sure feds know by now this is a worldwide operation. Keeping on our toes and staying vigilant is all we can do to win this battle.

Well said Kappacino,
The site would obviously have to take into account the buyer's location when showing the prices as well as their home currency.
I was doing some number crunching today and looking at the relative purchasing power of the dollar versus the pound and saw that at current MtGox rates you'd have to pay an extra GBP 2.40 to buy USD 150 worth of Bitcoins compared to someone using dollars.
To some extent you can hedge against this by selling your Bitcoins for a USD dollar amount on MtGox thereby keeping a reserve but of course you do lose out on the initial sale of Bitcoins and you'd have to have money to spare.
An alternative would be to peg prices to the average purchasing power of a basket of all three currencies USD/EUR/GBP as per MtGox which would also mean they fluctuate less. It would still be possible to show prices in the user's home currency.

Perhaps if we keep bumping it it'll get implemented?
It no doubt will eventually.

Really need Euro's and GBP pricing.
Come on do it!!!
But don't delete everyone's bitcoins in the process like you normally do during updates SR.

I don't think what happened with the previous update was particularly nomal - of course showing prices in GBP and EUR won't solve the issue of fluctuations of these currencies against the dollar but it might make life a little easier for people in the UK/Europe.

On the other hand, don't want to make it look like Ebay too much now would we guys? ;)
Counting in bitcoins does remind you every time where you are and what you are doing.

I implemented this with a greasemonkey script. Supports EUR/GBP/USD.
It gets the exchange rate from intersango.com (does not leak http_referer) and additionally tries to figure out #grams and work out price/gram.

I definitely support this! In addition to BTC and USD, I'd like to see EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, NZD and JPY.
Actually, everything on this list would be good:

Comon people, enough with the alternative currency requests, if they wanted to use middle earth money they would have. Next you'll be asking for piece of eight and rupees.

Well technically the dollar is now a middle earth currency, it's all about the Chinese Renminbi (RMB) now don't you know.
We're all Renminbi slaves.
