Quote from: joemo024 on July 17, 2012, 07:07 amHey.. new here and trying to fully understand how encryption works. First question: when I encrypt messages with GPG through text edit (MAC) it creates two different messages, they are identical but one is lowercase, one is in caps. Also when I decrypt the message it will show up twice. Is this normal? or what am I doing wrong to cause this? You're the third person I've seen on this forum reporting the duplicate output issue. I'm not sure what the cause is, but it is probably worth taking up with the GPGTools team.Quote from: joemo024 on July 17, 2012, 07:07 amSecond Question: When I encrypt a message after i choose the recipients is it okay to leave the secret key blank and un check the two boxes? or is that necessary to complete the process?I don't use GPGTools, so I'm not sure what the screen you're looking at is supposed to do. When encrypting a message you should only be using public keys. The secret key is used to decrypt messages and to sign messages, but the GUI you're using might simply be displaying the fact that your key includes both the public and secret keys.Quote from: joemo024 on July 17, 2012, 07:07 amSorry for the newbie questions..
