Title: Questions About Seller-Created SR Market Coupons
Post by: MushGoo on August 28, 2013, 10:08 pm
Hey friends,

First and foremost, as a new vendor here, I'd like to thank the forums community, the moderators, as well as the SR support team and staff for all of their help thus far in my transition from buyer to seller through so actively answering questions here in the forums.... not to mention the thoroughness of the Seller Guide and the Wiki as a whole. Pretty much every question I've had on this little journey has been answered by a simple forum search.

Now - that aside, on to the topic... I have a few questions about the coupons that I as a vendor have the privilege of creating.

I haven't found much information here in the forums about coupons... most searches turn up threads about creating coupons for products to use in retail outlets. Based off of a combination of knowledge from making purchases on SR in the past, common sense, and what little info I have gathered from the forums, is that coupons are redeemed by being given to SR support by the individuals whom said coupons were given, then the support team simply credits the value of the coupon to the account of the redeemer. Assuming this is the way it works (if this is not the way it works, please elaborate on how it does  :) ), my questions are as follows:

1.) Does the coupon-holder have to purchase the listing for which the coupon was created BEFORE the support team credits the coupon amount to their account, acting as a sort of rebate or "post-purchase coupon" rather than a regular coupon?

2.) Do coupons cover the cost of the SR fees/commissions?

2a.) If not, is there a way to donate BTC to make up for the loss of fees/commissions?

2b.) When I as a vendor create a new coupon code, should it be created pre or post-commission?

3.) Coupons are customer specific, right? What I mean, is that each coupon code generated is only good for one customer to use... correct?

4.) Are coupons a complete pain in the balls for SR support/staff? I know it's part of the job, but the last thing I want to do is turn a support/staff member's day to shit if the coupon shenanigans is the last thing the SR guys want to do. I don't like making people's jobs harder, and I certainly don't want to do so as a brand new vendor! Ha - I don't want the first thing the support team/staff has to deal with regarding me as a vendor to be some excruciating process they hate handling!

I think that just about sums up my questions regarding vendor-generated coupons... though I feel a bit like a space cadet today, so I may have left something out. Thank you a million times over for any answers/feedback you may be able to share, and thank you all (community members, admins, staff/support) for everything you do to keep this place a happy, smoothly operating community!

Love, Love, Love!

Oh - I meant to say, the more in depth any answers are, the better! I plan on creating a thread regarding the use of coupons for both vendors and buyers here on the forums, and once I have access to the Vendor Roundtable I will create a thread there as well (unless such a thread already exists  ;D ). Thanks again!

Gift codes have been disabled indefinitely. Sorry to give such a short reply to your original post!

Libertas,

Haha - no worries on the short reply! Sorry I was so long-winded in my original post! When I was exploring the options of my vendor account when I opened it 12 days ago, I saw the option to generate a code, I figured it would still be there! I'm assuming that's the answer to my question #4! Ha.

Thanks for your time and for replying so quickly my friend! I'll see you around the forums, take care!

Love, Love, Love!
