Title: Got temporarily demoted as a vendor
Post by: CheapestCocaine on August 26, 2013, 07:26 pm
SO i just got this message----

Quote
We have investigated your account and found that you have done many out of escrow deals, meaning you accept payment directly to bypass SR commission fees.

We'd like to give you a second chance to get your account back in good standing. This will be your last warning. If you disregard the Seller's Guide again, your vending privileges will be lost permanently.

To bring your account back into good standing, you must pay for the commissions you should have paid on all of your out of escrow transactions to date.

It is your responsibility to determine how much this comes to. If you low-ball it, we will investigate and permanently demote your account. If anything you should include a little extra as an apology and show of good will.

The percent commission charged at this point can be found with the following formula:

6.7 x e^(-p/6) + 4
where p is the price of the listing in Bitcoins.

Send this money to "SR Quality Control" via your account page.

Let me know when you have done this, so I can investigate. I'll reinstate your account once I'm satisfied you have done your best.

~Vendor Support

If any of my customers are wondering why they cannot order from me this is why. I find this strange and surprising because i cant possibly owe more than $20-30 USD... Also i find that the fact I was suspended before given a chance to pay very reminiscent of the modern american government, and i am severely disappointed in the moderators who chose this course of action, due to what a huge inconvenience and loss this is for me, and my customers. I have sent payment and I hope to be up an running in the next few hours, but thats completely out of my control.

You deserve more than this minor inconvenience for being a scumbag. I won't be ordering from you any time soon because you tried to cheat SR out of their well-deserved commissions. Vendors like you weaken our community.

Oh... they do suspend accounts. Interesting.

I couldn't agree more with Crooked...

Some of us actually appreciate SR and the service and are more than happy to pay. We build a business on quality, service and solid product supply - unlike "cheap" versions.

Winging because you got caught is weak and pathetic and as already said, vendors who behave like this weaken the whole community - therefore expect no sympathy from us.

Well jesus, i didnt realize i was weakening the community! The only orders I did outside of escrow (which were only 2 or 3) were because the customer was a few bitcoins short and they wanted to just send the BTC directly to me and recieve their product. I did this solely out of trying to be an accomodating vendor i didnt realize it would result in all this backlash from the Silk Road community. Needless to say this wont be happening again, but this only occured in my first few weeks as a vendor and I would really appreciate if you take this message into account instead of perceiving me as a "scumbag"

What you can do to make up for it is to pay your fine, and then pay vendor support a small donation for finding you in an infraction and still giving you the opportunity to pay it off. Not every vendor gets a chance for redemption with their same vendor account!

Dont give me shit about selling cheap cocaine. There is plenty of fish scale on SR, I am filling a MUCH needed market gap for those who simply cant afford shelling out over a hundred dollars for one gram. and having a 4.9/5 id say about 200 transactions would agree with me

Interesting a mod has not come in to verify if this is real or not.

Absolutely make sure this is a legitimate payment to SR and not someone who is a troll using "SR Quality Control"

but is there a very slight chance that a member of the staff went "rogue" and is trying to fuck people over or that SR was hacked, however small the chance...

i wouldnt send any money without first discussing with other staff or DPR directly

it has happened to a couple other vendors as well. just seems very strange to me, but could be legit.

also, the forum mods wouldnt have any knowledge of the SR support workings, assuming things are still the way they were about six months ago... they strictly deal with the forum. admins on the other hand might know something, but DPR is the one i would like to hear from

I am puzzled by this thread....

I expected the vendor to say they had done nothing wrong.

Instead what we were told is;

1. I broke the rules
2. I got suspended

I do not find this surprising however I do agree a warning may have been nice.

What in the hell man? Now I'm all butthurt because I got permanently demoted instead of getting a suspension or a warning. I even offered to pay a $500 fine. Did you guys become more lenient or something all of a sudden?

(Drops subject.)

sad face.

I'll have to take a look at your listings when they come back.

I see your vendor status has been returned so congratulations on that.

If you wish to take the matter of your demotion up with me privately, BruceCampbell, you are free to PM me and I will respond to you when I have the time to do so. I will not be commenting any further on your demotion in public as it has already been addressed in a large number of unrelated threads, derailing many of them in the process.

ok ok..
i get it..
SR lost a drop in the bucket!!
granted, a vendor shouldn't be going out of escrow..
but to pay more than what was owed as an 'apology and show of good will'..
I'm a fucking homeless drug addict that gives Shiva knows how much to our lovely organization in SR fees!! I'm not looking for sympathy or empathy.. but where's my 'show of good will'??
you can thank me for every purchase made in the form of 6.7 x e^(-p/6) + 4 as well!!
how about for every year a buyer's on the road, he gets a little 'thank you card' from the SR staff?? i'm sure a few btc won't break any of you big wigs!!
i mean really?!?
or yearly, 1 random lucky active community member gets a gift code er something.. idk..

Damn that sucks, sorry to hear man.

I get why people are a bit up in arms over the commission thing because everyone is out for their own and other vendors have to pay it, but seriously, what the actual fuck? It's more than a little unnerving when SR acts like a hardlining business entity with a hand in the cookie jar instead of the libertarian model website of safe buying, selling and doing that which we love which doesn't harm others.

I'd like to imagine that the libertarian model is to demand accountability, in addition to facilitating transactions. When we fuck up, we gotta owe up and pay the dues because we all signed the same set of contracts, the buyer and seller wiki contain the information we are often ignorant of in the rush to make money.

Thanks for clearing that up, I just know people have come up with some pretty clever ideas on scamming and I have fell victim once, but it's good to keep our vendors honest and our host rich.  I love SR!
Peace.
