Anybody had the same experience as me: gave a MP to someone who seemed legit, they said it would be minutes, the money was withdrawn almost immediately and then the vendor says he didn't get the money and won't respond anymore.
i have no recourse here. i was stupid, should have just done bitinstant or something. these MP vendors need to have some restrictions put on them. too easy for them to take people's money.
edit: i will add that this was a "respected type" vendor. month on the road, sold other things as well. this wasn't me just picking out some sketchy MP vendor
-
that sucks, dude. :( how much did you lose if you dont mind my asking?
personally i wouldnt buy bitcoins via SR, but if i were going to, it'd be one of the very-widely-known vendors with a good reputation across the board. one name i've seen mentioned a lot is "sugarmama" but since i buy my btc off SR, i can't personally vouch for anyone.
why use SR to buy bitcoins anyway?
edited as to your edit: oh, i'm sorry. that sucks a lot more. have you messaged with them to try to resolve things, or taken anything to SR resolution? (i dont know how the MP-to-BTC thing works really..)
-
thanks for the sentiment SourGrapes :) $500 of money from my friends so i could ease them into SR. afraid thats never gonna happen again.
i used to use btc vendors when i was starting off but switched when i realized they charge way tooooo much and realized buying btc wasn't illegal. Then switched to getbitcoins.com and then some other sites(can't remember their names) where i could deposit my money in banks. Eventually Bitcopia showed up and i pretty much used them from October of last year until they got shut down in like April. now i occasionally used bitinstant when i want some.
4 heroin(his username) seemed respectable with plenty of sales not just with btc. i was kinda in a hurry and he promised me a great rate and coins very quickly. that should have set off alarm bells right away.
i've attempted to talk with him to get the coins but he refuses to even discuss it really. says there was some hold or something on my MP except the money was gone right after i sent him the code. now he says i did something wrong and should take it up with moneypak.
SR admins didn't have much to say except that no one, i repeat NO ONE should buy btc using moneypaks on Silk Road ever. that was really nice of them to say.
plus i wasn't able to purchase a listing before he got my moneypak information. which in itself is a guideline problem(i think)

I'm sorry to hear you've had an issue here, but I presume you have read the Buyer's Guide? It clearly states that there is nothing we can do if you engage in these kinds of transactions.
Silk Road can not offer support for Bitcoin exchange purchases and we recommend that you do not buy Bitcoin from exchangers operating on Silk Road. Please see the following sections of the SR Wiki:

We look into all reports of scamming behavior by vendors, and will investigate this. The problem with such transactions is that it's virtually impossible to know who is telling the truth, and they cannot be held in escrow. Silk Road is a free-market based marketplace and it is up to each member to exercise personal responsibility when trading in such a marketplace - especially when engaging in purchases that can not be held in escrow.

of course Libertas :)
I didn't think i made any accusations that Silk Road or any of its administrators are to blame for my idiotic mistake. I just feel that it is a transaction type that is very open to skullduggery and alot of new SR people do not know this. I feel we can come up with a better system if SR is going to allow MPs to be used.
I believe 4 heroins account should be frozen before he steals even more money from people(ive already heard from some).
-
He stole $200 from me 2 days ago as well. Never shipped any of my 3 orders and now if I cancel them I get nothing backs since I paid with a Moneypak code.
-
sorry to hear anon
how does he still have 100 next to his name???
SR should freeze him out of his account and divy up all the money he owes everyone on here.
that is a power i would be more than happy to give to DPR.
Some rich person really needs to make a bank that specializes in BTC. that would be awesome
-
I can't leave him feedback because he never marked them in transit or else I'd warn other people. I have 4 confirmed members who have been scammed by him for Moneypaks. Something needs to be done right now to stop this. At least take down all his listings for Bitcoin exchanges.
-
i see he is still operating
-
I called this fool out in wraithes thread. This guy is "good drugs"! Don't buy fucking coins from him!!!
-
I was considering using him. I messaged him and asked about what exchange rate he was going to use and he just stopped repsonding when before his replies were very quick. Have you reported it to the SR staff? Is there anyone else people should be aware of?
-
He ripped me off for $300 MP. His account is no longer up.
-
I tried to use him for MP, after a few hours I contacted another vendor (smartcoin) and used the same code. smartcoin took the money and made the deposit within the hour. Glad that worked out well.
-
His account is no longer up.
Great! Now he can't take anymore money from anyone... For now.
-
But it doesnt mean there arent multiple accounts.
-
SouthBeachID has been taking people yesterday and today. Got me and many others real good.
-
I used to use MP vendors as well. Check out blue sky traders; Always VERY professional and pretty prompt service. As well as they usually don't take as much in fees!
Only thing that sucks as of late it seems you need to email them your bitcoin order a day ahead of time, as well as the earlier you get to the bank to deposit the faster your coins will come... Still for me it has always been less than 24 hours.

If there isn't any multiple accounts, homes will be back up shortly. And he will still be selling mushrooms. Besides, I know this sounds callous and shit.. But stop with the BTC for MP crap from these fly-by-night vendors. I understand that cats need their coins fast, as certain products on here move fast.. But this have been proven time and time again that it is just too risky.
