I just refreshed the newbie discussion and bam 3+ pages of spam, apparently they have found some type of forum exploit to avoid the captcha, possible injection? anyway I'm not clicking on any of the links.
-
hope they ban that fucker soon

Yeah. I can understand some one falling for a scam if its like a random link. But do they really think they are going to get any suckers with 3 pages of spam? Im a newb but shit... Anyone who falls for that probably deserve to lose.

My thoughts exactly, thats why Im thinking it could have some type of malicious crosssite exploit in the post itself

Are there even mods on the boards? I looked on the member list and theres 3 admins and everyone else seems to be regular members.

Hardly 'all of a sudden' though. This seems to be a regular thing.

Iv been refreshing and reading the forum all day for days now and this just happened in 2 mins so no way they could bot/captcha that amount of posts in that short amount of time

More than likely to exploit/scam bitcoins from people

Yes, we are here and we do generally keep a good eye on the place to make sure those spammers don't get a foothold.
Regarding how they can post so much, I believe they are most likely using bots and captcha solving software to launch their spam walls every hour or two, sometimes more often. Their tactics do seem to vary though, so there is definitely some manual input on it. Either way, they're gone now and they'll be gone when they come back again. ;)

Thanks for your dedication and hard work keeping this place clean. I understand that you cant prevent everything and even if you do patch it there will be more exploits popping up, I wonder if anyone is stupid enough to click on the links?

It's more a case of when we see it, we delete it. We're not always in the Newbie discussion forum but we do tend to spend quite a bit of time in here helping newer members out. The 50 post restriction generally keeps the spammers confined to the Newbie discussion forum and gives us a chance to get rid of them before they can disrupt discussion on the main forums.
Some people do follow the links, or at least they have done in the past - that's why they keep coming back, unfortunately.
