Title: Would it be allowed to offer / request DDoS service here on Silk Road?
Post by: Deutsche Bank on June 02, 2013, 11:00 pm
Dear Silk Road community,

the rules regarding restricted items in the seller's guide aren't clear on that and therefore I'd like to know if it'd be allowed to offer / request DDoS service here on Silk Road.

I ask that, because I'm curious about your opinion.

Also I personally think that DDoS is a means of digital protest. For instance: Recent events in Germany (Frankfurt, Blockupy demonstration) made clear that the German government has no intention in preserving the people's right to take part in demonstrations.

So why don't fuck up the banks servers / sites etc.? It seems so tempting to make them feel our anger.

I kind of think it's bullshit that you would even ask about offering malicious services.  Small levels of civil disobedience in buying / reselling some illicit substances is one thing, but to blanket offer a destructive service with no morality involved at all?  So what happens when you aren't smart enough to cover your tracks and get pinched, going to roll over on the actual person that hired you?

I would assume that most of this community, especially after dealing with that on our own site, would tell you to get screwed.  Just my two cents

"Fucking up the banks' servers / sites" would also harm all of its banking customers, would it not?  My best guess would be that this would not be allowed, but I've been wrong before so if you truly feel like you can make an argument for how it would help people rather than harm them (which I'm not sure is even possible in this scenario) then you can certainly make your case and check with DPR on it.

That said, you wouldn't just be causing the banks a headache - you'd be interrupting service to customers who did nothing to deserve their money or accounts being inaccessible or compromised.

I'm all for disrupting government and doing anything to fuck their shit up, but I agree with scout. The customers do not deserve inaccessibility to their money simply because of your disgust of the government.

I really understand that you guys are concerned about the regular costumers.
I think the costumers would get past that. Banks had their part in the world economy crisis and their clients / the tax payers have to fix it.
So in my opinion it would be fair to cause them some troubles.

It would be such a perfect world if everyone would use Bitcoin and tell their governments to fuck off.

This falls under the restricted items category for the reasons that scout has outlined, and vendors have had their listings pulled before because of this.
