Title: Legit or scam ? "WeBuyBitcoins" http://jzn5w5pac26sqef4.onion

Legit or scam ?

 "WeBuyBitcoins"
http://jzn5w5pac26sqef4.onion/index.php

Anyone tried them? Have not found any threads mentioning them in the forum.

I tried asking this in rumourmill without response. I'd ask in the vendor roundtable but my access request from a month or so ago has not been responded to, as far as I can tell.

They advertise that they're selling an irreversible good/service (Bitcoin) for a completely reversible method of payment (PayPal); that is enough to state that they are quite obviously a scam. Whatever you do, do not give them your money.

Regarding gaining access to the Vendor Roundtable, you need to follow the procedures set out below:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Vendor_roundtable

Quote
Vendor roundtable

The Vendor roundtable is a private message board on the Silk Road forum for vendors to discuss issues in private. To qualify for access to the board, you must meet the following requirements:

You must have received a bond refund.
Your forum username must be identical to your vendor username
You must keep a link to your vendor page in your forum signature

When you've met these criteria, message Vendor Support and they will give you access.

Thanks for the good advise :-)

I found that Btc Buyer here on this possibly-respectable listing:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Selling_bitcoins
But I do not trust it and dont plan to send coins unless respected folks stand up for them. They do have irreversible options but no escrow safety. Very very risky, I know.

Vendor roundtable:
I think I met all the requirements before applying for access a month of so ago. I have heard it can take a while. Not too worried about it.

Indeed - check it out on the bitcointalk.org forums and see if there's any mention of it. You can access bitcointalk.org through Tor.

Regarding the Roundtable, have you messaged Vendor Support on the main site requesting access?

I actually know one rule of PayPal is that they don't cver buyer protection with regards to intangible items whether BTC's or Microsoft Points or product keys etc, and a word of advice even if you are buying something from a website that sells product keys and offers you an extra option to receive a copy of the item even if you can download it because I learned that on eBay the hard way buying a product key off someone and had it been accompanied with an installation CD they would have covered me when the products key did not work. This goes for anything that is not a solid item but if you are not talking about PayPal's buyer protection and do in fact mean some other way of funds reversal then I am at a loss to know since I have only ever had eBay disputes and they closed the one in question the moment they heard it was a product key and by that time the scamming Indian bastard had got quite a few people.  >:(

Fuck PayPal are bastards, but then if you are buying an item from overseas outside Silk Road you don't want to use BTC's for safety reasons unless you know the person is good for it, and I guess that new Atlantis site also since there do seem like some honest people there, but I wouldn't send anything but some scooped up dog shit to anyone on that BMR (unless you are a SR vendor with a good rep who is there I guess lol) that's my $0.02 and just letting you know, no non-tangible items have buyer protection and short of using your VISA I do not know of any other way to reverse money or I would have done it to these dodgy product key selling Paki bastards. I blame eBay for letting them sell on there, then kicking them off after reported scamming but not refunding their money, at least Darket's not the only place that it happens.  ::)

Searching that forum did not get any hits for me. I may be doing it wrong as it seems like it should have. I tried "WeBuyBitcoins" and the web address.

And, ya, I think there was a link to a requesting access page. I answered the questions asked (such as why do you want access) and submitted. Have not messages to ask Support why I have not heard back from them yet, though.

Access but no longer sign up for an account to post.

If you need to sign up I recommend using a PHProxy which is way easier than using proxychains (I used http://proxy.arcticgames.net/). Start with a bogus password then once you've successfully signed up you can reset it over Tor (the proxy can take your password). If the site prevents you from posting, hit "new identity" on Torbutton until you get one that isn't banned.

If you found no mention of them on bitcointalk.org that most likely means that nobody has used them yet. As a result, I would stay well away from them.

Perhaps send Vendor Support another message on the main site inquiring as to the status of your request. Please note you need to message Vendor Support, not SR Support.

we have used them and all we can say is that we have not heard anything or received anything from them and it's been one week already.  We only lost 1 bit coin and asked for 50USD and then we couldnt even transfer our BTC balance back to our wallet.  In our opinion it is a scam.  Learn from our mistake so you don't make it.

Vendor Support vs SR Support. Yes I need to keep that straight. Not sure which one is at the bottom of my account page "Support". But dont bother to tell me. I will pay attention to that detail soon and know, lol. That support was way behind schedule so I was not planning to say anything to them 'till they had caught up.

Thanks Vivid for the sad-experience report. Sorry for your loss. Please let us know if you end up getting the cash.
