Hi there everyone,
I am new to this site :)
I dont understand the conversion from dollars to bitcoins .
Can someone please advise me or maybe give me a link to learn from?
Also to deposit money when clicking on the link "make a deposit" it provides me with a non linked series of numbers and letters.
Do I copy and paste the into the browser to make a deposit?
please enlighten me :)

I remember getting my head around the whole thing... I'll try and summarise, but Libertas is right - read the wiki.
You can buy bitcoins off legit websites where you google. That 'code' you saw when you clicked 'make a deposit', think of it like your 'wallet'. You can put bitcoins into that wallet.
Once you find a vendor on google/by searching the forum they will explain step by step what it required with their service. Some require documents to verify who you are, others you can deposit cash into a bank account and they will send them to your 'wallet'.
It's really up to you which way you want to go. To add another step in the mix, you can use a 'bitcoin anonymiser' Some don't, some do. They charge a small fee to make your bitcoins more anonymous. Some see it as necessary - others are 'swapping dirty coins, for dirty coins'.
