Does using the Tor browser protect one at all when using it to surf on the clearnet?
-
Everything I've read from people on here says NO NO NO
don't go to clearnet sites using TBB on your regular machine. just .onion sites.
although everything we type in here that isn't PGP encoded is fully visible ....WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

i think it depends on....
Normally this should not be a problem (unless you log into your facebook account or any similar site which has your personal information). The only problem could be that other background-programs (like java or adobe) reveal your real information when surfing on clearnet. But when you are using an OS which is adapted for TOR (for example TAILS) then i think there shouldnt be any worries!
But dont rely on me for 100%, thats just what i found out on reading this forum... so maybe someone who has more knowledge about this could help you more

If you want your browsing to remain anonymous then you SHOULD be using Tor for browsing clearnet sites. However, it is inadvisable to log in to your personal accounts via Tor (email, social networking etc.), and do not access your Mt.Gox account over Tor or they will flag your account for verification.
But yes, you can absolutely use Tor for safely browsing clearnet websites - just not the other way around!

How about if you use TOR Browser to access SR for example, but at the same time your surfing the clearnet using your regular browser? Same computer of course. How safe or unsafe is that?

It is relatively unsafe due to the possibility of timing correlation attacks. There are many threads in the Security forum about that, and you can use the Search bar to find them.
