Title: Marketeer a scammer?
Post by: rojo on May 15, 2013, 09:26 pm
So I believe im being ripped off by marketeer who is a supposed bitcoin vendor. He has a very legit looking page with 40+ positive feedback posts. He was very responsive and just a nice guy. Does anyone have any good feedback about  him? Or am I fucked?  Anyone have good recommendations for moneypak to bitcoin vendors? Preferrably one that doesnt have a really high minimum dollar amount . Thanks

Several people have reported being scammed by him, so I've reported him to staff so they can look into it.  I looked at his profile earlier today and found the feedback somewhat sketchy considering the fact that he's so new yet it shows 42 transactions and all of the positive feedback looks the same as far as text formatting ...

Oh dear.. Very sorry to hear that, rojo. Please consider buying your Bitcoin somewhere other than Silk Road, or at least through one of the longtime, proven BTC exchangers. I hear very good things about Sugar Mama but I must stop short of recommending anyone due to the fact that they CAN up sticks and abscond with your money at ANY time.

You can check out the first part of the Buyer's Guide for ways that you can get your hands on Bitcoin with significantly less risk of being scammed:

Keep your receipt, and your MP cards.  You can make a claim.

It's really unlikely that GreenDot would give anyone in this situation any of their funds back.  After all, you willingly provided your MP code to someone ... which they warn against.
