Title: What are Gift Codes and how do they work???

Just another newbie question of course.. Title pretty much sums it up, I'm just wondering about these because I've seen the link to them on my account page and I've seen the box for them on the ordering page, but I'm not sure I quite understand what they are... or how you use them. Thanks for the help :)
