Title: Sent coins to old address!
Post by: PervitinBlitzkrieg on May 07, 2013, 02:35 am
I clicked get new address but accidentally sent the coins to the old address. I've read a few forum posts about this but just want to be a hundred percent sure. I did this a while back and the coins still showed up but this time its been almost 8 hours and they have yet to show up where my typical transfer time has been less than 2 hours.

-Are all old addresses linked to the new one?
-Do coins going to an old address take longer to show up?

If this has been answered elsewhere feel free to post the answer/link and lock the topic. I couldn't find a definitive answer to my question anywhere so I figured posting and getting an answer would be beneficial to me and others.

EDIT:

I forgot to add that I checked the transfer on block explorer and it went through. The coins are in the hands of the SR at this point.

Typically it would mean your coin is gone, never to return to you again.

There may be an exception though, try messaging SR staff on SR, and explain your situation. There is a half decent chance that they may be able to restore your funds to your new addy. good luck.

Hi PervinBlitzkrieg,

All old addresses are technically part of your account, and Bitcoin going to old addresses should not typically take longer than they would going to a new address. If there ever is a hiccup as a result of sending to an old address though, you can contact SR Support once it's been 24 hours from the time you initiated the transfer by clicking on the 'support' link in the bottom right hand corner of any page on the main site - they will then push it through manually for you.

Regarding the current transfer time delay, you can read more about it in the main topic here:

In short, don't worry about it; once the transfer issue is sorted out the Bitcoin will be in your account. :)

Locking as resolved.
