Title: Goofy Situation
Post by: scoooby on May 06, 2013, 08:40 pm
The other day I sent some funds to myself using TheHiddenWiki's Instawallet, which seemed fine & stable, I created a wallet & saved the URL, then sent the funds to the address. After not receiving the funds for about two days, I realized that every time I refreshed the page or visited it, the wallet URL stayed the same, but, the BTC address changed every fucking time.. Not sure if it's a site glitch or a scam. I emailed their support email & received no reply (as expected). Anybody have any advice here? I'm pretty sure there's not anything I can do, but I figured I'd give it a go.

"Tor's Instawallet"? Do you mind PMing me the link so I can check which site you are talking about? If it is Torwallet then yes, that has been outed as being a scam.

Not at all, everybody's new here once! Unfortunately it would seem that the site you linked me to is indeed a scam.

To warn others, the site in question is:

http://3rlqkicvauds47ch.onion

Warning to all: do NOT use this service. They are piggybacking on Instawallet's name, and it is a scam. Instawallet do not have a presence on the onion network.

I hope you didn't lose too much scoooby. :(

Yeah, that's what I figured, future reference to self: Don't try new things while in a hurry. I had to make a new wallet before Moneygram closed in hopes of being able to have my funds to make a purchase to be here by Monday.
I lost about $160. /:
But, I've made 1/8 back so far, lol.
Thanks for the help & kindness, maan, much appreciated.

Yup, it's very important to do your research beforehand. Again, very sorry to hear you lost your money - take your time in future, read as much as possible and always research the service before sending them money.

Glad to hear you're on the way to making it back though! All the best for the future! :)
