Title: Auto-Finalize Not Working :O
Post by: OzGrow on April 27, 2013, 07:36 am
Hi Guys,

Little help please in regards to Auto-Finalization.
I am a vendor and had the unfortunate pleasure of having to wait for auto-finalization.... for the first time.
Here's the story.....
Buyer ordered - I accepted - dispatched - tracked and delivered..... My job done.... and done damn well I might add ;)
No finalization from buyer.... even after polite reminders.
Waited 17 days for the auto-finalization gods.

Here is my issue,
The status of this order now shows as "Processing" ..... under the heading "Auto-Finalize".
.... it has now been "Processing" for well over 48 hours.
That's 19 days so far (and counting)  for A-F

Naturally, I have asked SR support for assistance..... and naturally, they have flobbed me off.... with no assistance of any kind. (As usual I may add)
They suggested that I should have "accepted" the order within 4 days......etc etc....
Of course..... this is not in any way helpful as I know how the ordering system works........ and as mentioned, the order was processed as per usual.

Does anyone know anything about this process??
Any assistance would be great. I would live to get paid.

AF has been postponed since the DDoS. We're all affected by it.

Smokeables is correct: DPR disabled autofinalize when we first started having issues with the DDoS attacks.

... so auto finalize was disabled, and support isn't aware of this?  C'mon... I like SR.  I'm critical of it sometimes, but please don't start really falling to pieces on us all :(

I agree, as we had noticed the same thing, We pm'd SR Support on Sunday asking why 3 buyers marked "processing" for atleast 3+ days had not released funds.

We all managed to get on SR during the weekend. The late F/E's are all over 21 days.  We don't offer net 30 as payment terms.

I understand in some "one off" cases buyers; travel, might be ill,  etc.. and may not have had the the chance to finalize.,, but all the others received their orders and moved on.

It's frustrating when it's can easily add up to $1K-5K. I'm unsure if we'll ever be normal again after recent attacks. We appreciate DPR's relentless effort to combat the enemy.

Too bad the few had to screw things up for the many. Stay strong!!!! Lastly, pay your bills when you log on.

Thanks to all for the replies..... seems to quite unacceptable on the surface..... and gets no better the more you look at it.

@FA - It would seem that they were unaware of the issue. They initially "shrugged"  me off as some idiot that doesn't know how to use the system.
.... it was only when I picked apart their reply (And hit the forums)  that they actually looked at the issue properly.

@SS - 21 days and counting mate - I don't remember agreeing to these terms either..... nor did any buyer. As you said..... these unpaid invoices now amount to thousands of dollars.
....and that's just you and me...... imagine the owing amount to the Whole SR Vendor Network.

I have now been told that it "MIGHT"  (MIGHT - as in not sure) be due to what was mentioned further above with ..... delays due to hacking.....
Site was initially down due to hacking for about 12 hours..... how does that equal 3-4 days...... it's crazy talk.
I was told to be patient and it "Should just go through".

WTF?!?!?!

Fees fees fees.... and this is what we get. I understand the whole deal about cyber attacks..... and shit happens right?
I heard a recent quote by someone we all know.... "What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger"... DPR (God Bless his Soul).
So by stronger..... you mean.....
Vendors will now not be paid, you can not upload pics...... Christ, I can't even log in anymore...... problems Daily.
Can  never get a straight answer out of these people we all pay so well.

It is infuriating!!! And I'm sorry. I pay SR very well via the fees I pay.......And this my friends is BS!!!!!

Note:  Black Market Reloaded is up and running..... you can actually log and buy stuff..... it's swell :)
I am forced to find an alternative..... and here it is..... you will find me there using the same name "OzGrow"

It is extremely sad what has happened here. But those who can not adapt to change will be left behind.
I will continue to try my luck with SR.... But will be doing business as usual on BMR in the mean-time.

Really really sad stuff - sorry guys :(

Just as an after-thought.....

Considering the fundamental basis of Auto-Finalization itself,
One could only presume that ANY vendor would find this simply unacceptable.

You can't just "Turn Off" the payment plan we all agreed to... and in fact.... have become dependent on, because of it's firm stance of prompt payment (If 17 days is to be considered "Prompt").
SR is built by users... on all levels....and depending on how you look at it... the MOST important users are the vendors. No argument that without product, there is no market.

So, given the above.... On what planet is it acceptable to do this to the Vendors.... the back-bone of the system.
We (as vendors) are being told "Don't worry about your money".
This is outrageous!!

So, if we are under attack.....
Not only should the A-F system be in full effect, but in addition, SR staff ($$Whom we do pay very well$$) should be insuring that all our funds are immediately moved to our pre-determined back-up bitcoin address.
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS FOR!!! At least... that's what we were told..... in writing!!!

I wish DPR and his crew all the luck in the world.... I NEED them to figure it out.

But, How do SR expect it's trusted vendors to explain this to their suppliers and alike......
I could imagine that this could lead to some unwanted and unwarranted unpaid debts. No need to think how that could turn out.
How could DPR do that to the guys who made him rich???

DPR - We Need To Get Paid. I have never once been late in payment to you.

One other thing.... Notice that when the sh!t does hit the fan, there is always a super-dooper 10% off deal.
I would like it to be noted that it is expected of the vendors to just pick-up this tab. Again, this policy is outrageous.
10% off is great for the customer - because of the security breach, the vendors are hurting more than anyone..... and you ask us to foot your bill?
Kick someone while they are down?? How about you throw the poor vendor a bone for a change.
We are never compensated... only further penalized.
Now we don't even get paid what is rightfully ours..... that made you rich.

Just food for thought guys,
Max@OG

I understand the need to temporarily disable auto-finalize. But the road has been accessible for a while now.

I have dozens of orders amounting the thousands of dollars sitting idle well past the auto-finalization time. Embracing new customers as we do a large percentage of our orders are fire and forget and we depend on auto-finalize to get paid.

While this is happening we are continuing to send out orders. We are dumping our own capital into product to pay for this.

We need those escrow accounts released sooner rather than later.

Hi folks,

I completely understand your collective frustration and apologise for the current problems. Auto-finalise was turned off as it would have been completely unfair to have buyer's purchasing stats affected through no fault of their own as a result of not being able to log on. I realise that that created a situation by proxy whereby vendors were left without payment for a slightly longer period than they are used to which is indeed a problem in itself but that shouldn't continue for much longer.

As far as I am aware auto-finalise and the resolution center will be turned back on once the site has been up and running for 48 hours without interruption.

DPR is working on getting things back to normal but the attacks were completely unprecedented in Silk Road's history; every vendor with good intent here is valued by Silk Road, and whilst this is a free market and vendors are free to ply their wares on other sites, the market share that Silk Road holds represents an unrivaled opportunity to sell to customers on a global scale.

Silk Road was the first to pull down the barriers of entry to such markets and allow trading in a safe, anonymous manner and has built and earned the trust of vendors and buyers alike. It is run by a figurehead that obviously has incredibly strong ideals and somebody that we know is not going to just abscond with our funds as they have had plenty of opportunity to do so if they wished, especially when BTC was rising in value.

I can only speak from my own experience on the following point but I've never seen a hint of libertarianism from BMR's current owner and would guess that it is solely about the money for him. BMR currently holds a very small market share - I do not have very much faith that if/when it grows larger it will remain a safe place to trade. If it were ever to hold as much BTC in its user's wallets as Silk Road does then I fear that someone who is simply in it for the money would likely cut and run as the benefits of doing so would far outweigh the time and risk of running it as a going concern.

Please note that the above views are my own and are stated in a personal capacity, and do not reflect Silk Road policy or other moderator's opinions.
