Title: Vendor status on the forum
Post by: Synthiotics on April 26, 2013, 01:45 pm
I am a vendor that meets all the requirements for vendor status, yet I cannot seem to get any admin to give me vendor status on the forum. I see that many other vendors are in the same situation.

If you are a vendor meeting the prerequisites for vendor status on the forum, but have not been granted this status, please post here. Perhaps we can get a list of us in this situation, and have the admins deal with it all at once.

Yep.
65 orders finalized, 100% positive feedback, 32 orders in transit and a vendor for ~ 8 weeks, applied 2 weeks ago and still no access  :-\

Exactly the same situation. It is very frustrating. How hard can this be?

200+ transactions, 99%+ feedback, vendor for 7 months

Only inigo can give you access to the vendor forum.  As you can probably guess, he's been very busy lately, so there is probably a huge delay.  Relax, he will get around to it.  :)

I am trying to relax but -

200+ transactions, 99%+ feedback, vendor for 7 months

That someone is made to wait this long does not instill confidence.

I understand you are frustrated, but only inigo can do this for you.  If you want to message him again, you are free to do so, but flooding him with messages about it isn't going to make it happen any faster.

That is the purpose of this thread. I already sent two messages, the initial message, and another one in case my initial message had been overlooked.

No one wants to flood anyone with PMs. This is a good place for vendors without vendor status on the forum to come forth and put their hand up.

I have some valuable information to share too. A user tried to extort drugs from me. He failed but his methodology would be of interest to other vendors, and so on.

The charter DPR wrote up is awesome, and it needs to be put into effect starting with getting these vendors their proper vendor's status.

As scout has rightly said inigo is the only person who is currently dealing with this and I am sure they have quite a lot to deal with right now. I can appreciate how frustrating it must be, especially for those of you who have been waiting quite a while already, hopefully it will get addressed soon.

The requirements are given in the seller's guide.

I meet the requirements. Now that the crisis is over, may I have my vendor status on the forum? It is hard to compete with people that have a big SR VENDOR label on their posts.

Sorry for the possibly dumb question, but...

what's the difference between just being a "vendor" and a vendor with "vendor status?"     How does being one or the other "affect you OR the way you can trade?

Thanks to anyone who answers

The vendor forum isn't very active anyway. That may be because a lot of vendors don't actually have access to it though.

It took me 5 weeks to get vendor status after I applied... And that was whilst Silk Road was functioning perfectly.

inigo has changed the process some.  now, if you want to apply for vendor status, you'll need to send a message on SR to Vendor Support, as per the edited wiki:  http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Vendor_roundtable

I just registered because I want to get rid of 7 sealed bottles of 36mg concerta (30 pills per bottle, 210 total) but threads like this make me realise it might not be so easy. Should I sell small numbers over a period of months to gain trust? Is it safe to do this type of thing in Europe?

Edit: also, if this is an unsafe undertaking in Europe then I don't think I will attempt it. Any replies or PMs concerning seller safety will be appreciated.

Hi Libertas

I don't think I have a vendor account yet. I have never sold anything (getting rid of a prescribed stash) and I have just registered the name Eurovision on silk road, I clicked the option to create a seller account on SR but it is requiring a 4.04 bitcoin bond. If it is economical for me to do so I will gather the funds for such an account. I'm a little busy with work until Tuesday, so I can work out the details then if needs be.

Since I'm a complete newbie I don't expect anyone to trust me, but if there are ways to build trust among the community over weeks and months I am willing to pursue those methods, if the going price of concerta makes it worth my time to do so.

Sincerely,
Eurovision

If you have not paid the bond then you do not have a vendor account. All sales must take place through a vendor account, so you will not be able to sell anything until you get one. However, the bond is refundable once you meet its terms (which you'll find at one of the links below), which essentially means that a Silk Road vendor account is free!

I would recommend that you read the SR Wiki - specifically the Buyer's Guide, and the Seller's Guide - to get a better idea of how everything works.

SR Wiki:

I would also recommend doing your research in the Shipping and Security forums. Anything can be successfully sent and delivered within Europe (and indeed, worldwide) once you take the necessary precautions.

Libertas

Thank you for taking the time to make such an informative post.

I am in financial difficulty, which is why I want to sell, so the bond will be tough to raise but I'm looking at ways to raise it.
I am rather discouraged by the 30 transaction stipulation on the bond repayment because I wanted to unload everything in bulk to minimize my risk, but beggars can't be choosers- unless you can direct me to an easier way.

Thanks again,
Eurovision

This is better then it was when I first came on the road.  Vendors had to buy an account outright.  The bond is likely to prevent scamming, and it seems like a very progressive and intelligent way to go about it.

You're very welcome. :)

Sorry to hear that things are tough financially, but hopefully you will be able to raise the money for the bond in some way. The terms of the bond are set in order to make it harder for scammers to get a foothold. Please note also that your sales must total $1500 to meet the terms in order to get a refund.

I'm afraid there's no other way to sell on Silk Road - all vendors must enter into the Seller bond before any sales can take place.

Best of luck with it in any event.

I'm sure the 200 concerta would make $1500, I'd just rather get there in 7 transactions of 7 bottles than 30 transactions (with 30 chances to get caught). I hope to solve my problems without selling, but I'm glad to have this option.

If that's how you think of it... You should not become a vendor at all.
If you're worried about getting caught, don't do it. Do not become a vendor until you are sure you have your tracks covered.

With respect Libertas, i did read the wiki guide before i posted.

i cant apply for a bond as i joined SR before bond date in december, the username dr (space) greenfingers, was taken on the forum but not on SR, my bad luck there - so i got the closest possible, but apart from that minor issue i thought i complied. My SR address has been in my signature for months.

Not sure what else im to do, i was just enquiring not expecting, hence why i havnt messaged anyone, just posted in the forum.

Thanks anyway

If you haven't messaged anyone, how can you expect to get the vendor tag?

The wiki specifically states that you need to send Vendor Support a message on SR to get access to the vendor roundtable.

Since you joined before the vendor bond increased in December, all you need to do is have a link in your signature here (which you do) and then you just need to send a message to Vendor Support.  Be sure to mention that you became a vendor BEFORE the increased price in December.  That way, they'll know that you haven't received a vendor bond refund because you aren't eligible for one, and will grant you access to the vendor roundtable.  :)

Here is the direct link for messaging Vendor Support:
