Every time I enter the code I get the red banner with the message "The letters you typed don't match the letters that were shown in the picture"whenever I try to post anything.
I can clearly see the letters and I've tried everything I can think of,I tried registering a new account,logging out and in again and I've just deleted my Tor Browser Bundle and re-installed a new one. Still no joy,it's been like it for a few days now,the odd post gets through but it's very rare. I've tried to post this thread for 2 days now!
Help,it's driving me nuts

Well I seem to have fixed it.
I went to Preferences>Content>uncheck Enable Javascript.
That seems to have fixed it if anyone else has had this problem. I'm on a Mac if that makes any difference.

Well I seem to have fixed it.

NOT FOR ME, I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO ACCESS SILK ROAD FOR OVER 2 WEEKS NOW.
I PUT IT DOWN TO MAINTENANCE BECAUSE OF THE ATTACKS - BUT EVEN NOW I CAN SEE THAT EVERYBODY SEEMS TO BE ACCESSING IT BUT ME.
EACH TIME - I ENTER MY USER NAME AND PASSWORD, THEN TYPE IN CAPTCHA AS SHOWN. THEN THE PAGE BEGINS TO START CONNECTING BUT THEN SIMPLY REFRESHES TO A BLANK LOGIN PAGE BUT WITH A DIFFERENT CAPTCHA.
THEN IF I GO TO RE-REGISTER A WHOLE NEW ACCOUNT, AND ENTER ALL NEW COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DETAILS, AND ONCE AGAIN IT WILL REFRESH TO THE LOGIN PAGE WITH EVERYTHING ALL BLANK AGAIN, AND A NEW CAPTCHA.
PLEASE HELP ME, I HAVE PROBABLY TRIED LOGGING IN OVER 100 TIMES, AND CREATING A MILLION WASTEFUL ACCOUNTS IN THE PROCESS.

Please do not type in all CAPS, it is much harder to read.
This thread is about not being able to enter the captcha on th Silk Road forum. Howeverm to address your issue:
Please ensure that you are using the latest update to the Tor Browser Bundle. Please also ensure that you are visiting the correct URL:
silkroadvb5piz3r.onion
There is no point in creating new accounts to try it from as it should work from either your original one, or the new one you set up. This last one may sound stupid but please also ensure that you are using CAPS in the right places. Try setting up a password such as "12345678", log in, then change that password to something more complex.

im having the same problem. captcha only has 3 numbers and i cant log in???

Please try refreshing the page until you get a full length captcha, or try the process from one of the posts above:
"I went to Preferences>Content>uncheck Enable Javascript."

Liberatas, I've been having this problem ever since I joined at the end of March - frustrating thing was, I couldn't even get in to this forum to say I was having a problem...because of the captcha problem!
When I go to 'Preferences' there is no option called 'uncheck enable javascript', not under settings or anywhere, so that option isn't available, I don't know why that is (I use PC), or maybe it's somewhere else I haven't yet found.
I seem to have solved the problem by using Internet Explorer browser, tho' I swear it wasn't working on that a few weeks ago...it definitely still isn't working on Firefox or Tor.
So I don't know what the problem was but I'm able to post up now.
p.s. I get the three numbers problem too, but simply refresh and it brings up four letters and three numbers again.

Sorry ZDVal, the option should be available under Options -> options -> content -> enable JavaScript.
You say you solved the problem by using Internet Explorer?? Are you accessing the site using the onion.to proxy?? If so, stop immediately. The people that run onion.to have access to your IP address, and have the ability to log everything you're doing, including any keys that you press.
I would strongly advise you to ensure you're using the latest update of the Tor Browser Bundle, then use that (and always that) to log in to Silk Road and the forums and change your passwords.
Regarding the three-digit captcha, this occurred as a result of site hardening measures. All you can do is keep refreshing until you get a full length captcha and you will be able to log in when you see that.

Fix for forum registration captcha bug.
The captcha displayed on the screen is not the correct code to be entered. For some reason it loads an old captcha. To solve download the audio file. You will notice it is totally different than what is displayed on the screen. Enter in what your hear and bingo!
EDIT: I found that disabling ALL scripts fixed this problem when posting on the forum.

strange fruit: you ROCK!
This has been driving me nuts, and your solution of unchecking java script fixed me up rightously.
Using TAILS usb drive with Iceweasel browser.
Such a relief to be able to post. My very first post after the fix went up like a charm. And this is #2.
Someone should sticky this solution or something, as a newbie it would really help to be hipped to this solution quickly.
