i have a proposal that will benefit the SR community.. the REAL community, i think you all know who you are!!
and forgive me.. i kinda messed up and mixed too much coke with codones and xannys.. bear with me.. if none or some of this doesn't make sense.. pm me homies!!
i can see plain as day the diversity in SR members.. i'm not gonna bring 'me' into this.. but i'm gonna say it.. there are some well off people on this planet.. and there are the exact opposite!!
i know you vendors do bitchin ass deals all the time, so i don't blame you if you tell me to go to hell.. and i completely understand that money makes the world go round.. but i watch the blockchain, and cry myself to sleep!! j/k but seriously!!
so ok,
how about this (stop me if this has already happened, or ended in a disaster) :
-a btc lotto with an insanely low buy in
•all going to a democratically chosen and governed wallet, to aid in the prize fund
-a total of 25 to 50 (depending on total donations)
•i'm praying to buddha for some outright generous donations (but i thank you for even reading this) and will except .0001
•1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes (if possible)
-i'm hoping to do this weekly, bi-weekly, once a month.. er whatever!"
even if 6 members offered .5 btc, that's 3 btc!!!
that's:
1st- 2 btc
2nd- .75btc
3rd- .25btc
but, the more donors the better!!
i know you all are human.. and care!! you have NO idea what difference .03 btc means to some of us!! i'm not gonna go into my RL situations, but know i'm having some hard times, straight fucked!! oh well.. so, carnals and carnalitas.. let's start a lotto!! i'm not certain the logistics, as far as, forums only or SR, creating a lotto pool wallet, can we even do this??, etc etc..
i promise (which means more than you think) that i will dedicate all my free time running this, except for the money part.. i ain't gonna lie.. i am NOT good with funds!! i'll investigate all proposed lotto tix buyers before offering them thier lotto number.. and sad to say, even though i would LOVE to win ANYTHING.. it would be a conflict of interest!!

Some people here have A LOT OF MONEY... Most have so much they don't know what to do with it...
Why not get on the forums and donate to some members that truly deserve it or run a lotto?

I think this is a great idea..
It might be hard to get off the ground at first but some of us could really use a hand up not a hand out.. LOL..
I know a lot of people here have been let go from their "day" jobs and are just trying to get by and make a buck were they can and a few bitcoins coins for some of us could be a life changer for a month or so..

but i've been thinking about how to keep it so everyone who buys in knows no scam is going on.. and haven't really figured it out!! because it would have to be through a buyers account, and therefore, essentially it would initially be entirely on trust.. so, to ease that stress, i could edit the OP including all buy in's and their amount donated.. so everything is accounted for.. i dunno!!
then the winner(s) chosen randomely..

I don't have a sellers account, YET, but will in the next coming months.. At that time I would not mind running it but on the sellers front I am of no use as of yet, But I am happy to help out in any way needed..
I will ponder on tactics for making this go easy and what the best method is for the entire thing.. MurderFace PM we can figure this out if you want the help!

I think the best way would be to use a vendor account. I don't think it's possible to be 100% guarded against anyone just running off with the money but if it is a vendor it seems to me that it would be much much less likely and probably only happen if that vendor was already going to go poof. It would not be good to just blatantly screw people in need after offering to help facilitate, I'm not sure if you can work out the logistics to get it under the umbrella of SR official business, but then you could count on a ban to help keep them honest.

I will volunteer my services as the loto escrow holder if you need one. I wouldn't pitch in coins for donations or collect any fees for hosting, but will gladly run this if you can't find another trustworthy vendor to assist in this.

maybe one party collects and pays out, while another party decides (hopefully randomly) the winners..

Yeah that sounds right, but would people choose their own numbers? Problem with that is late comers have the advantage. I don't like numbers... How about colors. Maybe a color line for piss tests? Not sure how many people you will have entered into each one though. hm

i would just like to see some sort of checks and balances implemented to prevent the lotto holding vendor (you, or whoever) to just say thppppppp and take the money!! an established vendor would be ideal..
but let me worry about contacting vendors.. i don't want any vendor getting uppity up with you over a seed i planted!!
IMHO i think ticket purchasers should meet a loose criteria.. no new accounts, trolls, or shit listers!!

I think the idea of Silk Road having a vendor account is brilliant as others have stated above :-). An account that does lotteries and giveaways.
ANY form of give-away, lottery or free-be generates interest and traffic, that is just fact. If you start giving away coins and drugs people will flock, but not only that, original members will remain over BMR and Atlantis. Not dissing those sites, I like them both, but Silk Road will always be my true love.
There are barely any lotteries anymore. Sometimes I used to log on just to see what ones there were, and sometimes I'd save coins and wait untill the amount I had was enough to enter a lottery. It was exciting for me. They aren't a waste!!! There's a reason every country still runs lotteries :P!

Sell tickets for $5 a pop to the whole SR community for a pot luck type thing.
Have them FE.
You can buy as many tickets as you would like.
Have a lotto type drawing at the end of every week of 10 random #'s and letters out of a hat.
5 different #'s
5 different letters
Whoever has most matching digits in their 10 digit transaction # for their ticket purchase wins the whole pot!
You will pretty much never have a tie!
Totally random, massive amounts of buyers, huge pot.
Then on top of that shit, vendors can do run weekly ads on my vendors page in return for offering some extra free BTC or product to the winner.
We can have a MASSIVE weekly pot built up in no time and have winners every week.
I think this is a sick idea guys....

I'm in 100% agreement here, and my first +1 to you. Only ONE ENTRY per person per drawing. I love the idea of using the transaction # for your "lotto ticket." I also believe that there should be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner. My issue is HOW the numbers (0-9) and letters (a-f) since the transaction # is a HEX number will be drawn, and WHO will do the drawing. One idea is for SOMEONE to use this CLEARNET LINK:

I can see scenarios where a group of people using teamviewer or similar software sharing their screen could generate the winning ticket while others watched, but then that defeats the anonymity aspect.

I think this sounds like a great Idea, I would think that the difficult part would be managing the money and getting everyone to have trust in the system like so many of us already do. the more people in on this the better it is.

Maybe every week or 2 or 4 we just pick someone to shower with love, and that's that.
Maybe we will have less people want to help, and I won't be able to all the time, I'm not rich, but it's better than nothing.
The original thought was to help some people in need no? Well shit something is better than nothing!

Yea, the $250 was mentioned by FuckingACE, on a stipulation to get around 10 donors of a similar amount.. this may be difficult to achieve!! But, as you stated, and i agree, this will be all for nothing if we don't start somewhere!!

My fear is that as soon as a vendor holds the lotto, it'd appear to just be a vendor's lotto. I guess the vendor could make it abundantly clear that its a lotto by the community, for the community. Maybe he could provide a link to this thread in the item description but still. Too bad we can't just get http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/user/923820dcc5 to hold it. haha.
Also, I'm not sure if the community voting would work. Wouldn't we all have our biases? Idk.

Completely not what I thought this was about - this is basically a mass lottery, with next to no chance of winning.
I thought the whole idea Murda had was for people to help out people that needed helping through difficult times - not for a vendor to cash in on a lotterery that's going to take an amazingly long time to sell the tickets in order for it to run???
Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick - but there are enough lotto's on silkroad already.
So basically the whole community choosing who wins the pot idea is out the window and a vendor has stepped in to take advantage of a grand lotto.

After hearing what Libertas had to say, the whole concept of trying to do this 'lotto' style seemed kinda dismal.. only because going through a vendor wasn't what i initially had in mind.. and any and all 'purchases' must be through the SR system.. but there IS nothing wrong with giving coin away!!
I do appreciate what White0ut is doing.. but there are a ton of 'lotteries' out there!!

Completely not what I thought this was about - this is basically a mass lottery, with next to no chance of winning.
I thought the whole idea Murda had was for people to help out people that needed helping through difficult times - not for a vendor to cash in on a lotterery that's going to take an amazingly long time to sell the tickets in order for it to run???
Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick - but there are enough lotto's on silkroad already.
So basically the whole community choosing who wins the pot idea is out the window and a vendor has stepped in to take advantage of a grand lotto.

Murder - I'd be interested in your thoughts on this?
1. I'm actually losing 150 dollars on the ordeal actually due to SR fee's I'm doing this for the community... I'm not taking a single penny out of the pot, but rather paying for the whole lotto to be able to run...
2. Next to no chance in winning? There are 3 winners so you literally have a 3/150 shot at potentially $1500... Sounds like decent odds to me...
3. The community doesn't choose the winner, that's retarded. The community does however determine the method used to choose the said winners.
4. Please forgive me if I'm offending anyone, my lotto will get big whenever winners start shooting out, it's all skeptics for now... I expected that. Most of my buyers will be the same people who buy my drugs when they arrive.
5. What the hell did I do wrong lol? I'm getting a couple of tix bought a day, fine with me lol! I just want to see this thing happen!

I do however, want to try and continue the effort to organize a mass collective give away where the winner would be chosen by the donors.. no tickets, no coin spent, just one super lucky, highly investigated individual and his lucky day!!

To be honest, I'd rather have less money won at a time but more winners. I'd like to see people having a 4/25 (aka 24/150) shot at winning $187.50 MUCH more than 1 lucky ass guy winning a ton of money/drugs. Yeah, $187.50 is less than $1,500 but its still a decent amount of money that was received for only a $10 ticket. We hear about people winning lotteries IRL and those very few bastards just live like kings. I'm saying we should spread the wealth more.
