Hi folks, I completely understand your collective frustration and apologise for the current problems. Auto-finalise was turned off as it would have been completely unfair to have buyer's purchasing stats affected through no fault of their own as a result of not being able to log on. I realise that that created a situation by proxy whereby vendors were left without payment for a slightly longer period than they are used to which is indeed a problem in itself but that shouldn't continue for much longer. As far as I am aware auto-finalise and the resolution center will be turned back on once the site has been up and running for 48 hours without interruption. DPR is working on getting things back to normal but the attacks were completely unprecedented in Silk Road's history; every vendor with good intent here is valued by Silk Road, and whilst this is a free market and vendors are free to ply their wares on other sites, the market share that Silk Road holds represents an unrivaled opportunity to sell to customers on a global scale. Silk Road was the first to pull down the barriers of entry to such markets and allow trading in a safe, anonymous manner and has built and earned the trust of vendors and buyers alike. It is run by a figurehead that obviously has incredibly strong ideals and somebody that we know is not going to just abscond with our funds as they have had plenty of opportunity to do so if they wished, especially when BTC was rising in value. I can only speak from my own experience on the following point but I've never seen a hint of libertarianism from BMR's current owner and would guess that it is solely about the money for him. BMR currently holds a very small market share - I do not have very much faith that if/when it grows larger it will remain a safe place to trade. If it were ever to hold as much BTC in its user's wallets as Silk Road does then I fear that someone who is simply in it for the money would likely cut and run as the benefits of doing so would far outweigh the time and risk of running it as a going concern. Please note that the above views are my own and are stated in a personal capacity, and do not reflect Silk Road policy or other moderator's opinions. Libertas
