More specifically - within Tor - while here or on the Road.

Suggestions and thoughts with regards to safety and and potential data gathering by those in the know encouraged.

I would recommend that you do not use scripts when browsing, neither here nor on Silk Road itself. Scripts have the potential to take away your anonymity, and if you can easily prevent that from happening, you should.

When i log into my vendor forum account "yoyo50"

it wont let me reply or start any new threads, i am a vendor on SR with the same name

what is up with that?

Regards

Hi yoyo51,

As the account 'yoyo50' only has 8 posts, it is restricted to posting in the Newbie section and the Support boards. This restriction was brought in to fight the spam being posted all over the forums by the mtgix / btkoin scammers.

Once you reach 50 posts with that account you will be able to post in all forums. Though I do not condone spamming, posting in one of the "get to 50" threads in the Newbie forum is generally tolerated as long as the member does not spam elsewhere in their attempt to get to 50 posts.

All members should, however, take the time to do their research on the other boards before getting into the thick of things.

EDIT: Locking as resolved.

Technical support / Re: Torchat question
« on: May 03, 2013, 01:41 am »
my torchat isnt working, it just says message delayed and wont send messages.

also I notice that torchat runs its own tor program, is it okay to use this while running tor for browsing, if not how do I configure it to run through tor?

Hi illuminat,

I can't offer any solution to your first problem, but as far as running Torchat and also running the Tor Browser Bundle, that is absolutely fine.

Torchat is bundled with a Tor binary, so it is effectively running its own instance of Tor. It is therefore automatically routed through the Tor network.

Technical support / Re: Can´t upload any images to my listings
« on: May 03, 2013, 01:36 am »
Hello,

I can´t upload any images to my new LSD-listings. It says "Sorry, an error was encountered. We could not process your request. (ext)".
what could that be?
has anyone else the same problem?

Thanks in advance  ;)

regards
TripSitter

Hi TripSitter,

This error has been occurring for many users, both vendors trying to edit listings and buyers attempting to update their carts.

A thread from another vendor that had an issue updating their account settings:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=153926.0

I'm sure it is being worked on; the issue does seem to intermittently resolve itself - the only advice I can offer currently is to re-attempt to upload the pictures as it seems it will work eventually. Your patience thus far is hugely appreciated, but the site just needs a little more time to get everything running smoothly again.

Customer support / Re: BTC never arrived in my account
« on: May 03, 2013, 01:22 am »
I sent about $200 to my SR account a few hours before the site went down, I just managed to log in and the coins have not arrived. My Bitcoin Wallet says the transfer went through okay, the receiving address is exactly the same as my account (trust me, I've quadruple checked it, I have had about $7k sent to this address). The coins simply have not appeared in my SR account and are lost as far as I can tell.

Any help?

Thanks. ITS

In order to prevent this from happening in future:

Before depositing BTC to your Silk Road account, always click 'get a new address', but be sure that no BTC are incoming at this time.

Wait until the funds that you sent have arrived before clicking 'get a new address' again and making your next deposit; changing your deposit address before the BTC have arrived can cause delays.

Customer support / Re: How do i recover from escrow?
« on: May 03, 2013, 01:14 am »
How do I cancel an order and recover the bitcoin which are in store as dollars? I ask this because I placed an order that the seller hasn't tried and I are somewhat broke my balls. Thanks to anyone who can help me

Hi lametta,

The cancel option becomes available 4 days after placing an order as a vendor has 4 days in which to process the order and mark it 'in transit'.
Due to the recent site downtime the countdown clocks were stopped, but have since resumed.

If you hover your cursor over the 'cancel' option it will tell you how long is left before you will be able to cancel the order.

The Bitcoin are in escrow as dollars because the item is hedged; this means that if you cancel, you will get back (in Bitcoin) the dollar amount that you paid, minus the 4% hedging fee that is automatically charged on all hedged orders.

Customer support / Re: Can't create new listing:(
« on: May 03, 2013, 01:02 am »
Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that this error isn't exclusive to vendors and posting new listings, it's been popping up on various pages. I'm sure it's being worked on at the minute, but I've found that after attempting the action a couple of times it will generally work.

The site just needs a bit more time; everybody has been very patient up until this point, and that is much appreciated, but it'll just be a little bit longer 'til we're back to normal. As I said though, do what you're trying to  a few times and it should eventually have the desired result.
