Newbie discussion / Re: Is It Time To Say Goodbye ????
« on: May 04, 2013, 03:44 pm »
I have been reading, along with experiencing, about the several issues with SR. Such as, difficulties logging on, long delays in receiving orders, and funds floating around in bitcoin land. I'm not sure what good this is doing anyone. Buyers or Sellers.
Maybe it's time to take SR down. Rebuild. And come back stronger than ever ???

I would really hate to see SR go out with a bad rep !!!

Silk Road is an onion site that boasts 97%+ uptime; I think the suggestion to take Silk Road down and rebuild it is, at this point, very premature.

Customer support / Re: Should i be worried?
« on: May 04, 2013, 03:27 pm »
I made a fairly big order last sunday and with the attacks on silk road the vendor didn't post it until Wednesday. He posted it 1st class royal mail, It is now Saturday and still not here. I have had many orders from silk road UK to UK and none have taken more than 2 days. I am really worried because it is a lot of money to me.

Forgot to say i had to finalize early because of the attacks

Hi dan2690,

It is not unusual for postal delays to occur with orders from time to time. However, nobody can say for certain whether you should be worried or not.

As you finalised early there is nothing that Silk Road can do to help you in this instance. Never, ever FE. Feel free to PM me the name of the vendor and I'll let you know if I've heard of any problems with them in the past. You should also do a forum search for their name from the main page (click Silk Road forums in the top left corner and do your search from that page).

Always research your vendor before doing business with them, and never FE.

I'll leave this thread open for the time being to see if others have also been experiencing postal delays.

Few people have been scammed by this thief. 2 people concerned lost $5k combined

Steer very clear

Hi Sc0t1and_Y4rdi3,

Can you post links to any evidence that users have been scammed by the vendor in question?

+1 Karma for Jack n Hoff (if that is how it is done)

When you reach 100 posts an option will become available under the poster's avatar to give positive or negative karma.

Weres my tracking number samgiancana ya mug its been nearly 7 weeks and still got nothing you already sent me dodgy tracking number and then said you will fix it first thing in the morning that was 5 days ago ya cabaury kid im so over it now GIVE ME A REFUND and sort ya shit out im guessing by all these post on this thread im not the only one you pulled a slim shady on dead set PULL YA HEAD IN

just4kikzz, your best bet is to communicate directly to SamGiancana over on the marketplace when it is back up - it's entirely possible that he/she is not reading this, especially given its location.

Again, sorry for your misfortune - I sincerely hope you have better luck with your next purchase.

Ah, I just needed help and I can't find any similar threads that have helped me at all.
I just would like to register.

Hi bonliver,

Silk Road is currently undergoing a DDOS attack. You can keep up to date with the site's status in DPR's thread about it here:

Hi folks,

What you're seeing is the Silk Road tumbler in action. It's nothing to worry about, in simple terms it 'tumbles' your BTC with those of others to obfuscate their origin and destination.

You should receive your deposits within 24 hours. If you do not, send a message to SR Support on the main site with the details of your transfers, namely the deposit address and date / time.

You can talk all he shit you want, but when your looking at 10-25 years in gladiator school, your whole thought process can amazingly change. I've never had to make a life and death decision like this, but I know people who have, and they were some of the toughest people I knew. Life is all about perspective.

I know people who took that shit to the door.  You're talking about rats, not men.

I echo Jack N Hoff's statement. Your own business is your own business no matter what way you look at it - you take responsibility for your own actions, you don't shift it onto someone else simply because things go wrong regardless of who they are or what they have done.

Silk Road discussion / Re: Back up addresses, Do they work?
« on: May 04, 2013, 02:21 pm »
On the vender options it has 'back up address' (so your coins come out when the sites down) well mine haven't been sent :( any other vender with this problem?

Transfer of funds to your back up address will only occur if the site is taken offline for good - what we are currently experiencing is temporary downtime.

Hi NorCalChronic,

When the site is back up could you check again and let us know here if this issue is still present?

Thanks.

Feature requests / Re: GROUP FAN MESSAGE - NEWSLETTER
« on: May 04, 2013, 01:56 pm »
I know it seems very unlikely that anyone will listen to this request, but I feel as a vendor it it very important for me to be able to activity promote my products. I would be really nice to see a feature on the website that allowed me to interact with my fans, I am proposing not that I even have access to my fans usernames (although that would be nice), but that I can send out a group newsletter/message, promoting my products and offering my fans discounts and sales on my privet listings. I feel that by implementing such a feature, you could bring more worth to the fan system, allowing for better communication throughout.  :)

This is a great idea and one which has been brought up before; however it would require an extra section to be added to the site so as buyers aren't bombarded with messages straight to their inbox from vendors that they have 'fanned'. Some buyers have 30 or more vendors on their fan lists so inboxes would get out of hand fairly quickly.

As a result I don't think it's something we're likely to see in the near future, especially because every addition to the site adds a potential security risk in its code. A good suggestion all the same though!

Customer support / Re: Placed Order Before Crash
« on: May 04, 2013, 01:41 pm »
I placed an order with a vendor before the crash he is usually very prompt at get packages out but I'm not sure if he ever saw it at all last I checked order was still processing since seem to no longer be able to log in any more how or when or what happens to my funds? Thank you for your time.

Side note: has the ddos attacker made demands?
DPR: Any reward for his head? ;)

Hi chews13,

It's entirely possible that your vendor has not yet seen your order. However, even though the site is up and down, a large number of reputable vendors are sending out orders once they have a chance to process them.

Regarding your funds, DPR has stopped the cancel and auto-finalize clocks whilst the site is down meaning that your order will sit in processing until your vendor has a chance to process it and mark it 'in transit' if he/she has not done so already. The order will continue as normal, the only difference being the time it may take some vendors to process the orders due to backlogs.

You can keep up to date with the status of the site on DPR's thread in the main forum here - it is updated whenever there is a change:

when these issues are meant to be resolved,,, looking forward to order some stuff but my coins are stuck somewhere as well.
seems like a lovely start :)

Hi spiriticon,

DPR has a thread in the Silk Road discussion forum regarding the current site attack which is causing these issues; you can find it here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=153045.msg1061435#msg1061435

If the BTC that you transferred to Silk Road do not show up within 24 hours of you sending them then send a message to SR Support when the site is back up with the details of your transfer (deposit address and sending time & date) and they will get it sorted for you.

Please don't let the current issues put you off Silk Road - it boasts uptime of over 97% which is incredibly good for an onion site such as this and is the most reliable place to shop for your drugs of choice once you do your research on vendors before making a purchase. Always check the forums for information about a vendor before purchasing from them.

In the meantime, please also read the following if you have not done so already - they will help make your first purchase a lot smoother as you will understand the process in full from start to finish :) :

The Silk Road Wiki F.A.Q.:

Please also consider reading the Seller's Guide as it will give you a better idea of how the ordering process works, and what you should expect from vendors.

Technical support / Re: auto finalize?
« on: May 04, 2013, 01:33 pm »
what happens if my package doesn't arrive before the finalize date, look slike it will auto finalize. Is that bad? do i need to go into resolve a day or two before it will auto finalize? im sonfused can soem oen explain how this works?

Never let your orders auto-finalize as this will negatively impact your purchasing stats.

Best practice is to enter resolution after day 10 (with 7 days left on the auto-finalize clock) and request a 5 day extension - this will kick in after day 17. Once an order is in the resolution center it will not auto-finalize; if the package arrives, simply finalize the order inside the resolution center. If it does not arrive, you can come to an agreement with your vendor (again, from inside the resolution center) for a resend or request a % refund which the vendor is free to accept or reject, and make a counter-resolution.

If an agreement cannot be made between the buyer and the vendor then a Silk Road Administrator will make a decision based on the information available to them.

Please keep in mind any policies your vendor might have regarding refunds etc. which should be taken into consideration before placing your order. And just further to what scout said above, if you believe your package has been sent or not, you should still enter the resolution center.

You can read more about the resolution process on the SR Wiki here:

Customer support / Re: Order not arrived - advice please.
« on: May 04, 2013, 01:16 pm »
Thanks, that helps. I understand the process now.

tbh, as soon as the vendor asked me to finalize so he could refund (?) I knew something was up. I highly doubt I'll ever see any product. I just hope the decision maker finds in my favour.

Vendor's name is: MrAnonymousX

Yeah as long as you stay in escrow you'll most likely receive a full refund, especially if others report similar circumstances. When he said he wanted you to finalise so he could refund you, he was talking about you finalising so that he could send the BTC directly back to you - it would seem that he had no intention of doing so in any event.

I've never heard of MrAnonymousX but with any luck others will see your posts and won't do business with him. Thank you for bringing this issue to the attention of the community, and I hope everything works out for you.

Locking this thread as resolved.
