Are you the mods on drugs too or not. Let me know please, because I wanna be on the drugs your on if any, because you guys are real awesome.

Haha that's much appreciated, Budzz. I'm pumped up solely on caffeine at the moment though so nothing too exciting I'm afraid! Sorry to disappoint. :P

Newbie discussion / Re: To Spam or Not to Spam?
« on: May 07, 2013, 06:57 am »
Man, the only reason I created an account was to reply to this one guy who was harassing one of the moderators. I just wanted to say that the guy harassing Libertas was coming off as a dumbass the more he posted. DRUGS DRUGS ... I NEED DRUGS  ..... NNEEEEDDD DRUGS RIGHT NOW. NOW!! NOW!! The twitch is too strong.

I appreciate your interest in coming to my defense, MakingMockery! ;D Now that you've got the forum account though, I hope you'll be interested in finding the time to take part in some of the great discussions that are going on around the forums.

Getting to 50 posts may initially seem daunting but when you start actively participating in a discussion your post count racks up in no time! :)

Thank you Lib. So how do I prevent it from happening again since you seem to know about Multi Bit?

I hope my coins aren't stuck in my computer forever.

No problem at all. Unfortunately I don't think there's a way to stop it from happening again, but in all the time I've been using MultiBit (4 separate clients on 4 separate computers) it has only occurred once. If it ever does repeat you can just reset the blockchain and transactions again and you'll be good to go. :)

They're not stuck in your computer forever, you'll get 'em out of there. ;)

Thank you Libertas...I have the same issue.  Normally it never takes this long.  Hopefully theyll pop up soon.

I'm sure they will! :) In the meantime all discussion on the topic is being redirected to the following thread in order to keep things concentrated in one place:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=156494.0

Please feel free to join in the discussion there - I'm locking this thread as the issue (or rather the cause) has been resolved.

I know I used the right address and everything. Also after trying to refresh my client(Multi Bit) it doesn't show that I sent anything at all even though my coins are gone.

Anyone have similar issues and/or solution?

Hi echojinks,

This is actually a rather common bug with the MultiBit client; I had the exact same problem with it not so long ago. To solve it just open up MultiBit, click on 'Tools', then 'Reset Blockchain and Transactions'. This will re-sync everything and your transfer will be sent. It won't erase your wallet or anything so don't worry about that! :)

I would highly recommend exporting your private keys to a secure file first though just in case anything goes wrong - at least then you'll have a backup and can import them back into MultiBit if needs be.

Your Bitcoin haven't actually left your wallet yet, the client just thinks they have but hasn't sent them out. You can export your keys from the same 'Tools' menu by clicking 'Export Private Keys'.

Let us know how you get on. :)

I think simple availability is one of the main reasons that alcoholics so often turn to the bottle.  If they had access to a greater variety of drugs, they wouldn't be such problem drinkers.  This is one of the reasons finding Silk Road is so exciting to me.

For example, after tripping on mescaline, I found I literally had no desire to drink for at least a week, maybe even two.  But mescaline is not easy to get.  So I hope to find that and other things that will help me not always be thirsting for a drink.

Hi MariaSabina,

You might find some posts in the Drug safety forum that may interest you; you'll be able to post there once you reach 50 posts but you can view any thread in any forum without doing so.

Silk Road retains control over all the wallet addresses in the tumbler; if it is indeed an issue with the tumbler then it will be fixed and all Bitcoin will be credited to the correct addresses as there is a record on the blockchain of who originally sent what where.

Does this mean a manual execution by the admins however if the automated system is broken however? Because that is going to take days.

I highly doubt it - it is most likely that the process would be automated with a script or something similar; however, it is important note that this is complete conjecture. We don't know if there IS trouble with the tumbler at all.

Newbie discussion / Re: New to SK Help Please
« on: May 07, 2013, 04:49 am »
Hey everyone. Im new to SK and I think the site is completly awesome. So my question is, does anyone know of a less expensive way or getting bitcoins. My income isnt very great and sometimes these bitcoins are crazy expensive.

I lost health Insurance, so I can no longer get my prescription, so SK would be such a life saver, if i can come across bitcoins at a some what lower cost..

Thanks for the read or the replys.

Hi Brandman105,

You won't find Bitcoin for lower than market value - if you do, it's more than likely a scam and you will lose all the money you put into it. You can check out the following part of the Silk Road Wiki for information on how to obtain Bitcoin:

I know up to 24 hours, but are we expecting longer than that delays? Thanks! I deposited almost 8 hours ago and haven't seen it yet, always been a 2 hour thing in the past...

Hi cay,

I'm afraid that the moderating team does not yet have a time-frame from the administrators for fixing this issue, however it IS being worked on.

Please refer to the main thread for any more discussion on the matter:

I definitely agree with the 50 post rule to avoid spam, but I think it is a bit defeated with several threads specifically called spam threads just to get your post number up :p

The 50 post rule was brought in to fight the mass spamming that was taking place by the mt.gix / btkoin / bitswing spammers. Limiting new users to a certain area of the forum gives us a chance to fight that spam before it ends up everywhere else.

We are currently in discussion about the possibility of cleaning up the Newbie forum and tolerating one or two megathreads for people to get their post count up, but allowing real discussion to take place as well as the Newbie forum actually has a lot to offer.

When I fist registered there was no post restriction for the general forum.

Now I've just attempted to make a legitimate post and even though I've been a member for almost a year I find myself restricted by this half arsed spam fix.

The fact that I've been a member for so long with a lower post count thats not made up of 50 bullshit posts should grant me access to all of the forum as far as I'm concerned.

conclusion? It's a bullshit rule that wasn't thought through.

Hi philishere,

If that were possible then the mass-spammers could simply register accounts every day, let them sit for a number of months then post anywhere they wish making the 50 post rule pointless to have in the first place and permitting the spammers to destroy the forum.

If you have a suggestion on how we could better deal with this, feel free to put it out there. Suggestions on potential improvements are always welcome.

well there mr mod u are a very even headed and straight shooter. I miss the old nomad bloodbath mod. i get to see him every once and a while He was a BIT more passionate about his postings. but this is a great tone to take. +1 if i could. I will try to get to the 50 before i get too frustrated about being locked in this BOX OF HELL!

ONCE I HIT 50 does that horrid verification box go away???

;)

I am passionate about a great many things, toejammer, but in my capacity as a moderator I am only concerned with delivering facts and helping resolve problems.

The captcha is removed when you hit 100 posts. Trust me, I know how frustrating it is - I had to go through captcha hell when I started this new moderator account. It's almost worth it though for the relief you feel once it's gone! :P

As far as paying for the ban to be removed, that would be impossible as it would create a system of inequality whereby those that can afford it can sidestep the 50 post rule, but those that cannot afford it will have to post to 50. That system is already in place on a global scale in society and it is not something that we would wish to replicate here.
