I would avoid any vendor with onion.to links on their page like the plague! I mean if they can't take THE most basic security precaution of actually using the Tor Browser Bundle, imagine how insecure your personal information would be!?

I have visions of vendors like that writing down the address on a scrap of paper to transfer onto a post-it that they use as a shipping label. With "DRUGS INSIDE - PLEASE DON'T OPEN" scrawled on the outside in crayon. Definitely not good.  :-\

Security / Re: Old BTC address still good?
« on: May 07, 2013, 08:00 pm »
Yup, the address is seemingly indefinitely linked to your account; as always though, if there are ever problems and the BTC don't arrive within 24 hours you can send SR Support a message and they'll sort it out for you. :)

So like the topic title says, I would like to become a vendor, but there are a few things I want to research before starting. I have already researched using Heat Sealed Mylar instead of vaccuum sealing, and I have bought a 6 Inch Direct Heat Sealer and a roll of 5mm Mylar sheet (althought it's rather small). The first question I would like to ask is where is a good place to buy the right kind of Mylar bags/sheets/rolls? Obviously I can cut them up to the size I want, but most of my packages will be rather small, so I'm not concerned about have a huge size. I read a lot of the topics on the Mylar/Heat Sealing stuff, but couldn't find a site with the kind of Mylar I need, and the vendors that were listed on SR either are out or don't sell them anymore (not too mention I'd rather buy it outside of SR because it would probably be cheaper).

The other thing I would like to ask about is how to mail the packages out? How do I pay for postage anonymously (doesn't USPS have prepaid mailers as long as they fall within a certain weight) and how do I choose what kind of return address to use. What is the best way to make it look business-like? And then how do you mail it out, by using different drop boxes around the city? Basically what are the must-knows for protecting myself and my packages?

Any other advice that you could give would be appreciated. I want to be the kind of vendor that people respect and want to come back to because of stealth, speed, quality, etc. So the best way to do that would be to get some advice from those that use these methods themselves and buyers who want vendors to use these methods.

If you're interested in becoming a vendor, you'll need to read the entire SR Wiki, in full, and read, read, read in the Shipping and Security forums:

SR Wiki:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

Also make a few orders from vendors shipping similar products that you wish to offer so you can get some ideas for stealthy packaging etc.

Newbie discussion / Re: Why buy cash?
« on: May 07, 2013, 07:52 pm »
I was wondering this too. I thought at first that it was for counterfeit bills or something, but there is nothing in the listings to indicate this.

Counterfeit currency is a restricted item on the road, and every person attempting to offer it so far has been a scammer. If you notice counterfeit currency being offered for sale, please report it to Silk Road by clicking the 'report this item' link on the item page, or the 'report this vendor' link on the vendor page.

As far as vendors offering legitimate currency goes, most do it for others who wish to cash out, though it's a fairly risky way of turning Bitcoin into cash and virtually no vendors do this.

What I meant to say is 4 days is good not 7 because 7 days is to long and if you cancel after 7 days people have waited that fuckin long and will get pissed.  glad to be of help. Dont mess again man I'm don't work here.

As psychedelicmind has stated, the cancellation time has returned to 4 days. The 7 day period was a temporary measure to allow vendors to catch up after the DDoS attack.

I have an order with someone, they've not read my messages, and the order is now past 7 days, so I could cancel, should I want to. But would I know if I'd been blocked for some reason, albeit accidentally? (As I have good stats, never left anything but great feedback due to having no problems, and good service up to now, I don't think I would be blocked intentionally).

A vendor cannot block you but any vendor is free to choose whom they do business with. Vendors were given 7 days to process orders due to the recent DDoS attack but this has now been brought back down to 4. I agree with Toska though, 7 days is a relatively long time to be waiting for an order to process.

In order to fight off the recent DoS attack we had to do substantial reconfiguration to the entire Silk Road system.  We are still working out the kinks, and there are a couple of isses that have to be addressed.  One is deposits and withdrawals not showing up in a timely manner.  We found one problem the new config was causing to this system and fixed it today, so deposits/withdrawals should be flowing now.  If you still don't have yours, please message support on the main site.

The other issue is being logged out seemingly at random.  We are still looking for the cause of this problem, but I assure you it is a top priority and we will get it fixed soon.

Thank you for your patience as we recover from the recent attack.

Newbie discussion / Re: Caneceling order
« on: May 07, 2013, 07:35 pm »
Thanks.

Yeah I am pretty sure its hedge, so I should get the usd amount back I take it, that would be put me at in a bit of relief.

The vendor isn't Topnotch, though it is a well reputed cannabis vendor that  I wanted to try out but. At least he didn't put the order through right away so I couldn't cancel it, I hope to hear from him soon.

Thanks for the quick reply - Hope all goes well with your order's and time here on the road.

Cheeers everyone

Hi noirbert,

If the item is hedged and you cancel it then you will receive the USD amount back, in Bitcoin, less the 4% hedging fee that is automatically charged on all hedged transactions.

Technical support / Re: User to user transfer withdrawn!
« on: May 07, 2013, 07:29 pm »
Hi,

With all the deposit delays I made user2user transfer over the main site this morning for a RL friend of mine. His account is showing that the transfer coins were almost immediately re-transferred to another random address.

He will be opening a ticket on site, but I thought I'd a topic on here to see if anyone else has had a similar problem or if any of the mods might have a clue. FWIW I trust this guy 100% and we realize it could be as straightforward as his login and pin being phished. Even so, with the speed it happened it almost seemed automatic and wonder if it could be a part of this whole tumbler problem.

Thanks in advance guys

Hi Mr_P,

When sending Bitcoin user to user via the main site you should always send it to a username, not to the person's deposit address. Sending to the person's username will ensure that the  Bitcoin are received immediately. As you sent them to his deposit address, it is likely that what you're seeing is the tumbler in action.

If they are not received within 24 hours feel free to message SR Support letting them know what has happened. :)

Of course I am in the loop reference BTC's taking longer to appear, however, my question has a twist:

I have made several trades thru Cavirtex, and what I generally do is send the BTC's from that acct -- into my Bitcoin wallet -- and then directly to SR.

Last night I was incredibly tired and rather than sending the coin to my personal wallet first, I sent them from Cavirtex directly to SR, eliminating the E-Wallet altogether. So.... When I Copy/Paste the address into my Cavirtex acct (the one on my SR deposit page) is that number unique to my account? Will the coins find there way to me?

If so - this is great because I have found a way to eliminate the need to pay commission to a third party (I'm relatively new).

Thoughts?

Hi Kristopher1980,

Your Bitcoin should arrive just fine (the SR deposit address is unique to your account) but if they don't arrive after 24 hours feel free to send SR Support a message on the main site and they'll get it sorted for you. :)

Customer support / Re: Re-opening: Scammed by MrNiceGuy007
« on: May 07, 2013, 07:22 pm »
I'm reopening this just to say that MrNG007 has yet to send me a package or any evidence that he actually sent one.  He called me out on my last thread and I unnecessarily apologized even though I was still highly suspicious after my stupid mistake of finalizing early(which I'll obviously never do again).

I also havent seen anyone on these forums who have actually received anything from him. He has a listing for 0 btc called "help feedback for narcotics", which I'm pretty sure he uses to boost his vendor score.

Why havent the SR admins done anything about this? I understand you can't refund me, but at least get the scammers cleaned up.

I asked him for the tracking number he promised, and he said "ur receipts got lost in my messenger"; what does that even mean? Just excuse after excuse. So until I receive a refund or a package, I think it's pretty safe to say I got scammed.

Hi axi0matik,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. :(

As you have Finalised Early there is nothing that SR Support can do in this instance. If you wish, you may report the vendor using the 'report this vendor' link on their account page and describe your situation.
Administrators cannot ban a vendor simply based on one or two people's reports, especially if they Finalised Early.
By finalising you are stating that the order has been received and is as advertised. If that is not the case then you may put the order into resolution. The escrow system is there for YOUR protection.  As you FE'd, there is unfortunately nothing more that can be done.

Please read the Buyer's Guide, an outline of the ordering process and the F.A.Q. section of the Wiki in full:
